Hate to say it, but I'm in the "not that big of a deal camp" on this one. Though if I was Carroll, I'd probably have a little one-on-one conversation with Rey and talk to him about his antics. Not exactly the best way to represent your team out there.
You and the rest of the site seemed to have grown up. I miss the old days, where sex and fart jokes were funny, where a man could crack open a beer, spill it all over his undersized replica Zach Thomas jersey with the tacky faded screenprint numberplate, and just recline, watching society go wrong and know that not a damn thing matters because we're better than everyone else. I miss the old days, Alex!
Sex jokes ARE funny when they are words and you're not actually degrading someone on national TV Sadly though we can only look forwards. The past is behind us.
Agreed 100% You think OUR society is sick on sex? This country is just the opposite. Sex and fart jokes are always funny.
If this was a player from any school but SC, and perhaps The U, nobody would make a big deal about it. Was it disrespectful? Yes. Is it something Rey Rey hasn't done a million times before? No. This one just happened to be on camera.
http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/maualuga-sorry-he-busted-his-moves-on-andrews-21708 Maualuga Sorry He Busted His Moves On Andrews You might remember during the Rose Bowl, when stud USC linebacker Rey Maualuga discreetly busted a move behind ESPN’s Erin Andrews. To most people, it was a harmless bit of fun that only added to his legend among Trojan fans and gave him folk hero status among the Internet crowd. But now the LOS ANGELES TIMES is reporting that USC is has issued a statement that Maualuga has apologized to Andrews for his dance moves and “deeply regrets his actions.” And I’m sure he regrets his actions just as much as the USC athletic department told him that he should.
Making fun of sideline announcers is always fair game and legitimate. The way he went about it wasn't terribly bright, but since when do we tune it to the Rose Bowl to find out who won the Nobel Prize for Literature? Storm meet teacup.
