I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion. My examination lasted just a couple of minutes and the doctor, whom I had never seen before, said that I don't need a new prescription. He had me read three verticle lines with each eye, probed each eye with a bar of light, and then put drops in each one. It had been two years since I've had my eyes checked and I've been having some mild headaches lately. This particular doctor is Russian, and while I've been trying to fight off the prejudice I've gained since moving to Israel, I can't help but think about the lack of professionalism that you often get with Russians.

On the other hand, an eye doctor in Miami had told me that my vision would improve with age so maybe it's okay.

I don't know if I should get a second opinion or just let it go. Normally, I would say yes, but really struggling financially.

I'm not worried about that part. That doctor told me that on at least two separate occasions. Another said the same thing, but that improvement would be hampered by frequent computer usage.

Miamian, id first explore other reasons for headaches that might not hurt you financially. Havve you had a lot of stress recently? New events happening in your life, job getting hard, any histories of migraines or anything like that?
If the headaches arent to frequent, I wouldnt worry to much about it. If it they are occurring daily or more, then maybe Id look more into it. Not a doctor, just my opinion :)

Micheal, do you trust any of your Miami Doc's? Why not send them a copy of your records and ask their opinion?

Thanks. Yeah, there is a lot stress in my life, but the headaches are mild and they come after I've looked at my computer for awhile. I thought that I was straining my eyes too much without realizing it.

If they are coming when your using your computer, just monitor it (no pun intented) and if you feel one coming on get up and take a walk, pop an Advil or something. Try to limit use ofc, though not sure if you need it for a job or anything. As long as your not getting splitting migraines routinely and downing large amounts of painkillers dont think its to serious. Alway make sure your wearing your glasses or contacts ofc. My GF gets headaches from to much PC use if she doesnt.

Bottom line, being financially strapped a bit, unless it seems to be gettting worse (espeicially at an increasing rate), you should be ok. CNCs suggestion seemed pretty good if you can get the notes translated from hebrew heh

Thanks again, but I have to work using a computer. I do pop painkillers sometimes. It would be tough to translate the documents. There's bound to be a lot of technical words that the average translator wouldn't know. I'd have to find someone in a similar position to my own i.e., a professional (in this case a doctor or something related) who hasn't found work and is trying to get by doing other things.

Actually, come to think of it, a nurse friend of mine who speaks excellent Hebrew but moved back to England precisely because of a lack of work might be able to help in that regard.

InFINSgrl is an optician, she says it is possible that your eyes could improve with age....if the doctor put drops in your eyes, then shined the light in there, he was looking for any health problems in the eye and he probably didn't see anything.

Do you have info as to what your scrip is now compared to what it was? If you can show me that info, I'll show it to inFINSgrl and she can tell me whether it would cause you headaches or not...

That's true, and strangely enough I've actually I've only seen Jewish eye doctors in Miami, at least that I can remember. However, understanding Hebrew is not an innate ability.
