I'm not really sure why anyone has issues with Bale's Batman voice, I know some did when the movie came out. Its totally ridiculous for a guy thats the most famous person in Gotham to use his real voice he has to disguise it in a dark obvious way. I just haven't ever understood that criticism of him in this movie. I think Heath was great, I think the Oscar type buzz was due to the fact that he died but his performance was outstanding. Bale is great as Batman.

Look at Christopher Nolan's movies he has directed. 1997 Doodlebug, 1998 Following, 2000 Memento, 2002 Insomnia, 2005 Batman Begins, 2006 Prestige, 2008 The Dark Knight. I mean i have not seen Doodlebug or Following but ever other Nolan movie i seen has been amazing. Memento is one of my favorite movies of all time. This guy is just an amazing directer. Sad he has not directed a lot more movies

I completely agree. Bale's Batman voice has gotten a lot of heat but I have absolutely no problem with him using it or have trouble understanding what he's saying. And it makes perfect sense as to why Batman would use that voice. I'm actually surprised that no other Batman movies had the Batman character use a different voice.

I haven't seen the Following either but heard it was decent. And I agree Nolan is a very good director. I also loved Memento, the Prestige and the Batman movies. I didn't however like Insomnia that much. I thought it was just ok and was a bit disappointed that it wasn't better considering the actors involved.

Let's hope the rumors are not true. I want some serious actors. What made the first two Nolan Batmans so great was seriously good actors. Good dramatic actors. And, along with that, some imaginative storytelling and great writing. Though Heath Ledger was spectacular (and should be nominated posthumously for an Oscar - if there is justice), I thought the storyline and writing of the 1st Batman was great.

Exactly, thats why for me, Begins beats TDK everytime. I still rate IronMan over TDK for similar reasons, as it too was a fresh new storyline on how the character was created in a fresh interesting light, whereas TDK was a continuing storyline, but didnt excite me and interest me the way Begins grabbed my attention.

I enjoyed TDK and appreciated Ledgers role and creation for Joker, but Begins and IronMan rank ahead of the overall story of TDK in my mind.

i watched this movie again last night.....i wanna touch on some things...

ledger was still incredible....his character is completley sadistic and psychotic!! i love the part when he comes into harvey dents fund raiser at waynes penthouse....and he goes up to the old man asking if hes seen dent...and the old man says "we arent scared of thugs like you"......

the way ledger moves his head, and looks at him is awesome!

and i love how he is funny...funny....funny....CRAZY....for example....the truck just flipped over....he crawled out, is firing the gun and telling batman softly to himself

    "come on do it...hit me....i want you to do it....hit me....hit me....hit me......HIT MEEEE!!!!

Bale's voice drove me nuts at first (the first time i saw it) but like others said previously....it is completley needed.....100%

think about if you called someone you know.....and your playing a joke on them....even if you try to change your voice to sound like someone else, there are tones, or the way you say things to make them say "is this john?!?"

Bale HAS to change it completely....make it so ridiculous and dark sounding, that NO ONE would figure out who it is....and believe me....un-masking batman is a mystery, EVERYONE in gotham wants to know whos behind the mask....so if hes talking...people are listening with more scrutiny to hear who it might be

harvey dent is not dead.....no way....i just cant see it happening, they foreshadowed that "fall" too much with batman dropping maroni and him saying "i wont die from this height" "im counting on it" yadda yadda yadda..... if ledger was still alive...maybe...but they need a good villian with joker being outve the loop....and i dont see them recasting the character....it would IMO take away from the film, cause everyone will be nitpicking and the performance comparing it to heath....riddler will be good, if used right....i would hate for a catwoman, or penguin to be used at all....just too cartoony for nolans "gotham" imo....

keep 2 face....build on his double personality, use riddler, build on the storyline of batman being chased and blammed for dents crimes...and make a good 3rd movie...

all in all...this film is great....and i think something completley under rated in this movie is the music.....the music in every scene is perfect....when joker is lurking around, when batman is about to make a heroic save.....when you are zooming through the backdrop of gotham....the music is great....

this movie is awesome, i am anxiously awaiting 2011...or whenever the 3rd one is out....cause nolan/bale wont disappoint imo....

I don't know. They would have to do a lot of backtracking and explaining to have Two Face be alive. I'm not sure you could make it believable.

And if he is alive it kind of undermines what Batman did in the end, which was the basis for the title of the film.

Yeah I disagree with Two Face being alive for a few reasons:

1.) It would totally change the message at the end of The Dark Knight about how Batman has to take the fall because if the public knew of Dent's killings it would cripple Gotham and peoples hopes.

2.) If he were alive then where is he? Don't you think Gordon would have arrested him for killing those people? And if not then what? I don't buy people's theories that he's locked up somewhere.

3.) Realistically what else could Two Face do in a 3rd film? He has no purpose. The whole climax of his character was punishing the people he felt was responsible for Rachel's death by giving them a 50/50 chance of surviving. He did that, game over. I really can't picture him running around Gotham breaking laws, robbing or killing people just for fun. As good as a character he was, his storyline is over with. Anything else going forward would be using him just to use him.

4.) In the script and in interviews it's stated he died, in the script it said he broke his neck from the fall. I realize they could always bring a character back but really it makes no sense. And I know other rumors are going around that Nolan and Co. stated 'Harvey Dent is dead' therefore 'Two Face could still be alive' but again I'm not buying that either.

Just my opinion though. Personally I hope he's really dead and stays dead or like I said in my opinion it will ruin everything in TDK.

Not sure where to post this but this looks like the best Bat related thread. Anyway:

According to Batman on Film, the latest rumors on Batman 3 are that Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. will announce their plans for the film in January. The site also says that, "the longer we don't here a Nolan/B3 announcement in 2010, the less likely it is that the director will return."

This should be taken as a rumor only right now but this site is extremely credible. And the owner of the site has broken numerous Batman Begins and Dark Knight stories in the past so I trust the source.

Well yes and no. The Joker's plan was to turn the good people of Gotham into the corrupt. With Harvey being alive all the people he murdered would be on him (instead of Batman) thus turning Gotham's 'Whtie Knight' into a bad guy and in the process crashing people's hope and also all of the criminals Harvey put away would be back on the streets. So The Joker did in fact win, however it was only a moral victory because with Harvey dead and Batman taking the fall the people of Gotham will still have hope that the city can be turned back around, which is the whole point of Batman owning up to the killings and keeping Harvey's good guy image alive.

If Nolan didn't direct another Batman film I'd still see it because I love the character too much. Nolan is a great director (one of the best today) but that doesn't mean the next director wouldn't be as good or maybe better. No one person is bigger than the mythos of the Batman franchise.

As long as Tim Burton stays FAR away from it.

The way he's been going lately, he'll cast Johnny Depp as the Dark Knight.

Haha. Burton wasn't that bad. The first Batman was pretty good even if some of his decisions like having The Joker be the killer of Bruce's parents, having Batman kill and having Alfred bring Vicky Vale into the Batcave (although to be fair they were running out of filming days and needed to wrap up that part of the story asap) poor choices.

The sequel you should blame on Warner Bros because they gave Burton 100% control because that was the only way Burton would do a sequel. And instead of another Batman movie we got a Burton movie with Batman characters in it.

I don't think casting was ever the issue in Burton's Batman films. It was the direction Burton took the films in.

I didn't mind him as Batman/Bruce Wayne. I thought he played the part of Bruce Wayne particular well, how he wasn't really comfortable being the rich playboy type and instead was just a loner. Keaton was given nothing to work with in Returns.

I actually think Jack's Joker was only so-so in that movie, but again I think the material wasn't the best for him to work with.

I'm talking physical bro. Keaton is a wimp. Did anyone really believe he had the upper body strength to hold a criminal at arm's length in mid air while standing on a building ledge like he did at the beginning of the film?

    C'mon man.

Batman was a big dude. Watch the fight in the bell tower at the end of the movie, when Keaton's fighting the black henchman he looks like a midget.

    It was laughable.

That kind of hits the nail on the head.

One of the things that makes Bale so great is that he has the muscle to do exactly those feats of strength, but he also looks the part of a business tycoon.

That's fair enough, I thought you were talking about his acting in general. Even so, to me anyway, him not being ripped didn't take away my enjoyment of the movie but I didn't think Keaton was a very realistic Batman either but he was a good Bruce Wayne, ditto for George Clooney. I actually thought Val Kilmer was a good Batman but not a good Bruce Wayne. Bale is obviously a great Batman and Bruce Wayne.

I'm hoping one day Warners releases Batman Forever: The Director's Cut (like they did with Superman 2) because the way the film was edited/put together and scenes that were deleted would have made the film so much better and also darker- which is the main reason why Forever was changed so much since Warner Bros wanted a more kid friendly film. The film was almost 2 and a half hours or running time and really went into the whole Bruce hasn't gotten over his parents death and why should he be Batman storyline. It also makes Two-Face look tougher and a bad *** instead of just the Ridder's laughing side kick.

I really think if the real verison of the film was released more people would like it and also there probably wouldn't have been a Batman & Robin (or at least a better verison of it). Of course then you can make the arguement that there wouldn't have been a Batman Begins or Dark Knight too.

But I still think Forever gets a bum wrap because people lump it together with Batman & Robin.

Only certain information like an original script and some deleted screens (which aren't complete as there's background music and sounds missing in various parts) from the special edition verison of Batman Forever DVD have been leaked. You can search on youtube for some fan edited verisons that just show what the original intro was going to be minus some background music/sound. Batman On Film.com has a whole article/section on what exactly the movie was going to be like and breaks down how the scenes that were in the released verison of BF would have fit in in the director's cut. If you have some time and are interested I suggest you search for the article as it's very interesting.

I'm not going to be home for awhile but when I get home and if I can remember I'll try to put the link up. But here's a basic description on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_Forever I know wikipedia isn't always the best site for information but it looks pretty legit based on all the things I've read on it in the past.

Just read some casting news, albeit old, however unposted here.

One Johnny Depp is rumored to be the Riddler.

    http://www.comicbookmovie.com/batman/batman_3/news/?a=4906

Also, being touted for Catwoman is Angelina Jolie. That I can really see. She would be very much like Julie Newmar and she even has Newmar's support.

    http://www.comicbookmovie.com/batman/batman_3/news/?a=4900

BTW, sorry to rehash, but I don't understand why people have a problem with Catwoman. Much of that seems to stem from a predisposed opinion that a female hero/villain will be too campy. That's something that has to change. Make Catwoman vicious and maniacal. IMO, she should be just a step down in viciousness from the Cheetah.

The Cheetah I see going all the way with blood and saliva dripping from her fangs. The only reason for that level is that the character was transformed from a woman into a were-Cheetah. Catwoman is just a woman in a cat outfit, but she's deranged and should be ruthless.

You contradict yourself bro. You say Jolie would be very much like Newmar, who was the EPITOME of the "campy" Catwoman, then say it has to change. If that's so, get rid of Jolie.

And please...for the love of all that's holy...no Depp. I KNOW he's a great actor, but I'm just sick to death of seeing him.

Hoffman too. All I can see is him jumping up and down yelling "THE EXTREME!!!!" in "Twister". :tongue2:

Aside from the fact they should stick to one villain, and not make this movie a cluster****.

I think the source for this rumor is twofold: (1) Entertainment rags say "The fans want it!" which morphs into speculation it's actually happening. (2) Depp's and Jolie's much-more-solid pairing in the upcoming thriller remake "The Tourist." As for a Depp/Jolie "Batman" appearance ... it ain't gonna happen.

I'm not sure that it's a contradiction. The whole 60's Batman series was the epitome of camp. There was something about Newmar's Catwoman that I really liked. Well, first of all, Julie Newmar back then was really HOT and they used that to an advantage, but something else I'm not sure. Maybe I just always thought that she was going to bring the really dark stuff.

I kind of liked when they made a movie with her as Catwoman and a bunch of villains. There was a scene when they were planning some sinister trap and Frank Gorshin did that trademark laugh of his and then in a new twist Newmar made cat noises but in a way that sounded a little insane.

I don't necessarily need to see Johnny Depp as the Riddler. The only thing that I would say along those lines as in FCOL NOT AGAIN would be Matt Damon.

I don't know about Hoffman. As far as the Penguin goes, I'm in the minority here, but I liked Danny DeVito's portrayal. That was nice dark with some humor. I just love the way he did "and my nose does not squirt blood" and then bit the guy's nose.
