I see a few players who should be cut right now. We don't have to wait to send a few of these guys packing. Players I would have cut already: Travares Tillman, Lance Schulters, Patrick Cobbs, Cameron Worrell, Joe "tin foil" Toledo, Chris Liwienski and David Martin ..among others.

David Martin, we could keep, as well as Lance Schulters and Chris Liwienski. I see no need to get rid of above average backups. David played well. Chris played pretty well IMO and Lance has been a big play guy for us in the past, so let him stick around if he likes.

Schulters was absolutely torched over and over when he played ...especially against Cincinnati. After all, he was a street free agent when we signed him. He is done. Washed up.

I don't really see the point in cutting a lot of those guys. None are making significant money or hurting the team in any way. Gotta have back-ups and a lot of those guys provide depth.

I agree on the Shulters cut though - he played poorly.

How did he let that ball go through his arms against the Patriots?

people got to stop hating on Worrell. When we brought him in, he was supposed be a ST ace only; no one ever expected him to see any time on defense.

Well of course we did expect to see him on defense, but he wasn't brought in to see major minutes at safety or even to be a starter. As far as I'm concerned he played a roll he had never done before and performed at a decent (although average at best) level. Unless Parcells can get a rookie DB that is as good as him on ST, no reason not to keep him around.

Worrell and Cobbs are good special teams players, and Cobbs was extremely highly regarded around here in preseason, dont really see what he has done to change that, he did ok. David Martin was not a bad pass catcher and was a decent red zone target, why would we cut him when we have no one better on the roster? Liewenski wasn't bad and is a decent depth player because I think he has some experience at both tackle spots as well as guard. We can't just cut players for the sake of it.

I'd keep Worrell, he's one of few solid special teamers we have.

Seeing as Parcell's and Ireland were just recently hired, I think they'll take some time to review the roster before decisions like that are made. Our future head coach will probably want a hand in those decisions as well.

David Martin dropped too many passes and he can't block worth a hoot!!! Cobbs went from being a 2nd stringer at one point (after Ronnie's injury) to falling off the depth chart. Liwienski is a bum. He was getting abused badly and that was why Lekkerkerker replaced him. Liwienski was being pushed back into the QB over and over because he couldn't anchor. He is a washed up journeyman.

I'm not sure I see the sense in cutting Joe Toledo just yet either. Yeah, I know he's been injured the past 2 years, but he almost won a starting position his rookie year, and with the expected return to an offensive line that values size over quickness, he should at least be given the opportunity to show he can play LG, where we could use all the help we can get.

man, i think Shelton should go if we find a guy in FA or draft thats a couple of notches higher ability wise. Hagan gets one more pre season. We need alot of depth yes, but I'd rather find other guys to fill holes than these back ups that have the stink of 1-15 on them.

Agreed on Hagan. One more chance or he goes the way of Larry Shannon and Freddie Banks
    Andre Goodman buh bye
    Donnie Spragan-see ya
    Tony Alabi nice knowin' you
Travis Daniels- also one more chance
Dave Martin gets another shot on potential but read the stories about Parcells and TE's and this guy doesn't fit

I'm not sure how NFL contracts work but I assume they are all paid up for this year, right? And we know we are going to be making trades down the road so not only hold on to these guys to throw into trades but we might find we need them to fill voids left by trades.

Gonna be a lot of turnover for sure. We can get rookie free agents to fill many of the roles of the guys mentioned, at cheaper and with some upside.

I'd love to see us bring in more FA OL after the draft this year. Every year there are several undrafted guys who help their teams along the OL at a very cheap price for several years. Not gonna find Orlando Pace, but you can get serviceable guys along the OL after the draft more than any other position IMO.

We need to get younger everywhere, and getting rid of some of the veteran backups is the place to start, along with the draft and a few key FA's.

No more 30 y/o FA's for big money like Porter this year.

I know! Let's cut them all and petition the leauge for a fresh start... Cutting all those players makes no sense, not even having a head coach to evaluate them. Granted most, if not all those names will be benched, or gone next year. One thing crutial to next year is depth and all those guys got to play this year, and may do as backups next year. Remember we only have 7 or 8 draft choices and all are not going to be ready to play next year. With a 1-15 record free agents aren't going to be beating down our doors, so we can't just cut everybody.

Most definitely keep Worrell. I know he didn't play well on defense, but that isn't what he was brought in here to do. He's a great special teamers and plays with A LOT of heart. When you watched him play safety with us, you would always seem him giving it all, throwing his body into others as if he didn't really care about his own. THAT is the kind of guy I want on my special teams unit!

Why cut Liwienski? If nothing else he's a solid backup. Also others have said Worrell was pretty good on special teams.
