I cant believe he has Oher going that low. If he's where the Phins pick (which i doubt) they gotta take him right?

I doubt we take Heyward Bey at 25, not with Parcells history. Its likely to be a lineman or defense. I believe he has taken a Wr in teh 1st but usually its going to be defense or linemen

I wouldn't be too upset with that. Heyward-Bey is a former teammate of mine. He is blazing fast and he has great hands. The guy is a hard-worker and wants to be great. He needs to add a little weight to his frame buut will be a very good player. Despite all of that he won't be out pick.

I would be willing to bet we take a pass rusher with our first pick. Or a safety

I was just watching ESPN... Mel Kiper was hiping up all the "play-makers galore" in this group.... which makes me think he doesn't really think of solid players that miami might need to fill in and get for FOOTBALL... but instead an explosive possible play maker to get miami maybe quick and easy points??? i not sure.... jsut a thought

Unless Michael Crabtree miraculously falls to number 25 (no way in Hell), I dont see any way we take a WR. Id be downright shocked if its anything other than a OL or Defensive player.

I don't know about that because Hakeem Nicks and Jeremy Maclin will be great players IMO. I don't want to limit the draft possibilities but I think the guys worth watching are as follows...

    *Clint Sintim-Outside Linebacker-Virginia
    *Rey Maualuga-Inside Linebacker-USC
    *Larry English-Hybrid DE/OLB-Northern Illinois
    *Hakeem Nicks-Wide Receiver-UNC
    *Max Unger-Offensive Line-Oregon
    *Sean Smith-Cornerback-Utah
    *DJ Moore-Cornerback-Vanderbilt
    *Louis Delmas-Safety-Western Michigan
    *Brian Cushing-Outside Linebacker-USC
    *Peria Jerry-Defensive Tackle-Ole Miss

we're not touching Maualuga most likely.

otherwise get rid of Unger and i really dont think we are gonna snag CB's again this year in the draft... i like what you got.

do you think Cushing would be looked at since we got Wake??? i not sure on that

Kiper predicts Darius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland for Miami at 25

Just to further prove he doesn't know anything. I still maintain there is no way this organization picks a WR #1 with the front office that's in place.

Not a fan of Darrius Heyward-Bey unless he slides to the 2nd round and becomes a value pick. One thing I look at when considering a wideout is his QB. Maryland's signal caller Chris Turner is not great by any stretch of the imagination. What that means to me is there's a possibility that Heyward-Bey could blossom in the NFL if he is paired with a great QB.

Still he's not as sexy a pick as Jeremy Maclin, Hakeem Nicks, Derrick Williams, Ramses Barden, or Jarett Dillard.

kiper is clueless. he just projects who he would pick, and doesnt take into account how the actual team views the draft.

Don Banks from SI has the phins taking....

25 LB James Laurinaitis Ohio State Sr. 6-3 240
Though some critics believe he played his best ball earlier in his collegiate career as a Buckeye, Laurinaitis is a solid and polished product who should make a quick and easy transition to the NFL. His technique is well developed and his field awareness and intangibles are two of the best parts of his game. He could be a longtime pro in the Zach Thomas mold for Miami.

It's kinda difficult to be that scornful at this point and time, the mock is as much a ranking of players as it is anything at this point.

Not really, when you look at it WR isnt the top need its also one of the hardest positions to get right. I think the top guy will be either an OLman or a defensive player. If Kipers draft held true I would have a hard time passing Laurinitis at 25. Great in coverage and a solid ILB

I'm not sure he's a good fit for our scheme. I don't find him physical enough and able to take on blocks to play ILB consistently at a high level for us. As Con said, he's a better fit at OLB but there are question marks there as well IMO.

i agree with him taking on blocks... definitely needs to get quicker hands and shed them better... but i think he will be a solid ILB in the NFL. a LB that has pretty closely dominated college, is a hard worker (is he???) and plays with great instincts you don't pass up if he falls into your lap.

I think he may be best fit at OLB because he's a good blitzer off the edge and is damn good in coverage but he's undersized for us. I don't see him taking part at the ILB spot in a 34 because of the reasons I mentioned before. I'm not going to say that they aren't going to take him because they very well could but there are certainly questions about him playing in our defense.

Eh, it's just the first mock Kiper produced. It's not as if these picks won't change as more information becomes available. A lot leftto go before we got the final mock.

i just think eventually his football instincts will take over the game while he gets bigger and older. i had to check myself and get back on track with him, lost focus as to what a good football player he was.

I just want a good linebacker with our first pick..we desperately need one, {english, sintim, lauranitis, cushing}.....one of those boys is gonna be there i think.

It'll change so much especially after the Senior Bowl and the Combine. Accurately guessing anyones pick right now is like a blind man teeing off for a hole in one on a par 5 hole.

I would be level headed with this pick because to me it would depend who else would be on the board at the time. If there were good prospects on the board at positions we needed, I would be mad. One thing about Heyward Bey is he never had a good consistent QB at MD. Hes alot better than what many have seen.

You know the more I look at this draft the more I begin to think we take the top rated player on teh board regardless of position. There is not one spot outside of HB we could not stand to upgrade. Now let me clarify this I think both the top QB's will be gone so there is no worries about taking one. We took Jake Long but have need at RT, so OT could be the pick. We need an OG, OT, ILB, OLB, NT, CB, SS, FS, WR, could stand to upgrade the FB.

Yeah same here, it could set us back more. But if Parcells and company draft him, I trust them because they know way more than we do.

I am out here in Cardinals bandwagon land "which by the way is out of control", but one thing I do love is how in 03 they drafted Boldin in the 2nd round, and then in 04 drafted Fitz 3rd overall. That has worked out quite well for them. I prefer drafting talent, not trading for it, and would love to see us select a wr. Not necessarily at 25, but soon thereafter if a good one is available. If Nicks was the pick I would be somewhat surprised, but disappointed not in the least. I don't think Bey is the pick though.

No wonder Todd McShay is passing Mel Kiper as the real draft expert. Kiper doesn't know what he is talking about.

I don't think he is passing Kiper. No matter what Kiper does, he will be the king of the nfl draft age. Guy created the whole hoopla himself basically. And actually, I like Kiper's lists. He usually goes outside the box with a few players. McShay seems to just put up obvious names like I could. Regardless, both are better draft analysts than myself, sad to say.

back to the LB talk with Laurinatis.... he pulled from the senior bowl, and not fully sure why... that could hurt him a lot since coaches were wanting to see him one more time to see what he really may have.

Lol McShay sucks and both Kiper and NFLs Mayock make his stuff look laughable.

I doubt we go with DHB for our 25, but at this point Kiper is just plugging players into needs, and its hard to say WR isnt a need. I think he is more worried about player eval at this point than digging up Parcells draft history to make sure Bill is hyped on 1-2 positions.

Iam not one of your all. I love our four guys going into next year, and i dont want anybody taking field time away from them, their all young, their all growing together, learning an innovative offense together, they all compliment each other well and are getting better, their ceiling as a group is high.

The only way i consider a receiver in the draft is if one of the top guys, hicks, macklin, britt, bey, williams falls to us with our 2B. other then that if iam the Gm of this team, i strictly go all defense with some oline sprinkled in.
