O you need tp worry because you did not go post in my interview with samphin. Go read it and post about it in that thread now.
My High School had the same rules and I freaking hated it then, but looking back on it now that I am in College it really helped prepare me for the future. I now know how to Cram. Also I don't really do any of the readings until like 5 days before the test and then just skim that chapters, looking at the graphs, pictures, and reading the Chapter Reviews at then end of the Exams. Cheer up buddy it won't really matter in the long run, it won't hurt your chances of getting into a college as long as you did fairly well in your other classes.
Well, I it's not like I started talking about Ginn instead of studying at all. I studied for this exam all day on Saturday and on Monday until the evening. It's like I did not prepare for this exam. I did every single question on my study guide..every one. I knew them all, and on our exam was a bunch of stuff that was not even mentioned in the study guide. How is that my fault when I prepared with information that would not be needed on the exam?
It is. See I went over the material on my study guide, now granted there were quaestions on the study guide that were on the exam but there was an awful lot that weren't on there.
Were there other sources like a textbook or lectures he could draw on? I don't know how it works for your class, but usually a study guide just goes over the basics of what you should know and isn't an end-all study aid. You'd also have to go over past hw, books, lectures, etc
That is the lamest thing I have ever heard, no doubt done to not hurt anyone's feelings. In a couple of years they will have to change to G's when to much negative stigma is shown toward E's. G's even sound somewhat good.
Agreed. I can't recall a test in college (I know we are talking HS here, but I never had a hard test in HS so I can't relate there) where we got exactly what we were told to study. Hell, I was ecstatic when I did actually get a study guide, because it was not common. As for complaining about not getting your tests back because school was canceled on friday: 1. If you got a D+ and a C- to begin with, why would you even want to use those tests to study? 2. If Friday was canceled, that gave you all day to study for that test, in addition to the weekend.
Did the test have your name on it? Did you take it? I think that means it was your fault. What was the class average?
In our class we get this huge packet that we use for each section in the chapter we are studying. Our teacher assiagnes us questions (that we never go over before the test) and gives us worksheets in the packet to do. Doing work is not my best way of learning is learning through visual.
The class average was a 65%. So I'm pretty close, and when 30 students do that porrly I think the teacher might be the one to blame.
If everyone in the class did that poorly he should probably curve it and consider teaching a little better IMO
my Calculus class in college was about as bad. English was the instructors 3rd language and no one ever knew what he was saying. Our first exam got the most rediculous curve I've ever gotten. He wanted it to be mathmatical so he made the curve the square root of our grade times 10. I got a 50 on the test...square root of that is 7.XX so I ended up with a 70 haha
Study guides for us tended to be useless since you pretty much had to have everything down anyways (91% is a B?!?). I don't think I ever got study guides in HS either. Just had to go off notes, HW, and quizzes to prep for tests. I tutor HS students now and some teachers these days are really making it easy to get everything you need for their test. Doing work tends to be the best way to learn depending on the class. And if you don't have all the answers to those questions, you can always go over it with friends in the class or even approach the teacher with questions. If he doesn't respond to that, well, he's not doing his job and you'd have ample reason to bring it up with his superiors. We also have a Questions and Answers subforum here and I'm sure a lot of us can answer government questions.
It is ok no body passes nid terms they are stupid. O and tell your teacher that everybody did so bad because she sucks at teaching and should go work in the lunch room
In my history classes in college, my professor hated tests and lectures.. So basically on Monday we would take a quiz which would consist of a open-book essay question, which he gave out the week before. Then would begin about a 25 minute lecture, usually less time than that. Then on Wednesdays it was group presentations. We were graded on three group presentations and a paper with each presentation, a book review, and those open-book quizzes. It was awesome, I could go to class on Monday, skip every Wednesday except when I presented (which was only 3 times in the semester) and still wind up with a B.
I am in the middlwe of taking my exams right now. Just got down one and now I am on the last one of the day. The only thing good about exams is that I have half days
You think high school exams suck? Wait till you near the age of 40, the exams you get at that age are horrible.
Yeah when we have exams we have half days as well. Actually, last year, for finals we had a normal school day during exams. Like we went to school for about 2-2 1/2 hours and then we took Finals the remaining portion of the day. That was terrible.
