There are not a lot of scouting reports on my favorite UH player for this yrs draft, I'll put together a little bit about a couple of others that should get FA consideration at least. But if David is still available with our 4th round pick and we don't maintain the island connection for this team, I will be putting some SERIOUS coin in mama's cussin jar! If he smokes the combine and has a good senior bowl he may not make it to our third round pick, I wouldn't be upset if we picked him there but I don't know that he's a first year starter, give him a year of practices and his 2nd and 3rd yr will be the payoff for the pick. I think my boy will be an excellent 3-4 OLB/DE, hes the right size, he's faster with pads on than his 40 says, but more important he's QUICK. I haven't had a chance to watch todays practice or yesterdays but the reports are good. I am by no means a draft "guru" just a fan, what do ya thinks boys and girls? http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=72893&draftyear=2009&genpos=DE Name: David Veikune College: Hawaii Number: 94 Height: 6-2 Weight: 255 Position: DE Pos2: OLB Class/Draft Year: rSr/2009 40 Time: 4.83 40 Low: 4.72 40 High: 4.94 http://uhfootball.blogspot.com/2009/01/witps-david-veikune-at-senior-bowl.html
That 40 time is scary, but I havent seen him to make an educated guess. He will have to be quick to have a shot. Could he be moved inside?
The forty time is what will determine his payday thats a fact. I think he'll be able to train for the combine and get that down to a 4.6 or so, and he's one of those guys that just runs faster when hes chasing a football.
Well thats why I say they have to be quick, 40 yard dash is such an arbitrary number. A guy that can move fast laterally is far more important than straight line speed.
