The first drive of our rookies career and after watching it, very impressive. Some of the throws made makes you wonder if there will be a QB controversey. He has great poise and very nice arm strength. After seeing this drive go 89 yards on a super bowl team, I want Henne to be the starter in 09. This arizona defense is not playing prevent either. Watch and see yourself.

Well, theres no doubt in my mind Henne is the future QB for this team. When, remains to be seen though. He definitely looked poised and confident in the pocket, made some nice throws. Arizona wasnt really throwing much as us defensively on that drive though, at least not the first part of it anyways. Still, there is no doubt in my mind Henne is going to lead this team to great places someday.

Both Pennington and Henne will make that decision on their own, based on their performance in TC.

Whenever they feel like it. Just, whenever the FO thinks Henne is ready to take over.

I hope to hell Henne doesn't start until 2010.
If Henne is starting at anytime next season, something bad happened. Either an injury to Pennington or a really bad start to the season.
    Neither is any good.

Just seeing that second pass and watching arms outstretched to knock it down and all kinds of hell ...yet it hit Hagan right where it should....awesome.

I cant watch too much because then I'll start jonesing for some Fins football (early 90's) and I dont have old DVD copies like you guys do.

I see your point, but what if Henne comes out in the preseason, and outplays pennington? Then its not a case at all of something bad. Afterall, we drafted this guy to be the leader of our franchise for the future. Clearly Henne has the arm strength to allow us to fully utilize ted ginn's speed downfield on a more consistent basis. Im OK with whoever starts for this team, but I dont see why you would "hope to hell" henne doesnt start till 2010, or why you would think that him becoming our starter would mean something bad has happened...

Ok, I watched it...Guess what, I came away with the same feelings as all year...we can't run the ball consistently and until then, Henne, Penny or Marino wouldn't be all that successful...the bottom line in that game was that our secondary had 3 or 4 major breakdowns and we got behind. We are and were not a 'makeup' kind of team...We are being built for a power run offense and until the OL is fixed, it won't matter who the QB is...

I will say that Penny gave us the best opportunity this year because of his experience and probably that will be the case next year. Henne has the arm and I think has the ability to start, but he needs more seasoning and grooming before given that task. Additionally, Tuna and company need more time to correct that inconsistent and awful run game (you know, the one when we aren't in the Wildcat).

Aside from that, there is no controversy here. Chad is the man, Henne is waiting in the wings...it's pretty simple. If the OL were capable of doing what Tuna and company want them to do, it might be different...but that is NOT the case here...Lets just put this to rest...

I say that because right now Pennington is this teams clear starting QB and team leader.
IMO, I don't think there will be any kind of training camp battle at QB. I think Pennington starts the year as the starter no matter what happens in TC.
Which means if Henne ends up starting at some point next year, we're probably closer to 5-11 than 11-5.

There isn't a doubt that Henne can get the ball out and down the field quick which means that he should be a good QB for this team someday. Personally I think it will all be up to Penny when that is and based off of last year I think he will start next year and then there will be the awkward situation of "we drafted this guy (Henne) so when do we let him start" in 2010. All in all I will take having two good QBs battling it out to be the Fins starter especially when this team hasn't had one good QB (except maybe Fiedler) for the past decade.

While I agree that the successful first drive by Henne speaks volumes about what kind of QB we have waiting in the wings, it does not tell me he should be our starter in 0-9. The fact that Pennington led our team to an AFC East championship after a 0-2 start and after that drubbing by the Cardinals shows what kind of resolve and leadership he has.

Also, did you see the two mistakes Henne made on the goal line? Throwing behind Brown and whizzing one 5 yards past Wilford on the fade? You can expect a lot more of that from Henne if we force him into action too quickly. I really can't believe anybody would think Pennington shouldn't be our starter next season. Henne would have to outplay him by a longshot in training camp for the FO to even briefly consider it.

Henne will be ready when Pennington is done. But my guess is that won't be for a couple years or so.

This is a fun subject to discuss though I doubt there will ever be a 'winner'.
I doubt Henne even has a legit chance to start next year, barring injurt to CP. Coach S. said at his closing PC that CP would be the starter next year. There was no question in HIS mind. This is one thing I dont like about head coaches in this league, although I think I understand WHY they are that way. They favor the 'tried and true' method of experience, over the 'possibility' that a younger new 'hot shot' QB ' MIGHT'..... be able to ADD to the team. I disagree with the thought that Henne shouldnt start untill our OL is completely solid and our running game is right. Henne, in my mind, will allow the running game to get right by making the D back up and play the POSSIBILITY of a long ball. They fit hand in hand. All facets of the offense need to be respected by the opposing D for it to be DOMINATE. I hate to beat it in the ground, sorta, but this is EXACTLY why the jest got rid of CP. He can get us to the playoffs, but nothing past that. To me, it is a proven fact. The jest were tired of 'only making the playoffs'. Now that WE.....have made it there, I am ready for more. I just wish the Head coach would let the young guy LOOSE. But it aint gonna happen this year, so I will just keep on poutin :surrender:

Sorry bout doubling up on posts but.........

    3 things about the video

1....Henne made SEVERAL throws Chad CANT MAKE. This is my reason for wanting him to start.

2...... Big Jake did some scolding toward the end of the second video, in the huddle while at the goal line. I love this guys fire.

3......Thanks for leaving in the little clip of the cheerleaders at the very end.

On 4th and 5...with the Phins at the Zona 20....Henne made a throw that will not really be part of our arsenal with Chad....

That 14 yard dart to Camarillo at the sidelines....those strong medium range passes are so needed if you are behind....and are hard to defend if thrown well.

Sparano said he was the starter next season a few days after we lost to Baltimore. No training camp battle this offseason.

Chad Pennington deserve's to have the starting job after what he has done this year. But if Chad Penninton is doing bad in trianing camp and Chad Henne is doing better then Chad Pennington then give Chad Henne the starting job.

He also made some bad throws that Chad WOULDN'T make. I'm not going to thrash Henne. It was a great drive overall. But Pennington is the starter and he deserves to be the starter. Anybody who thinks otherwise has a short memory.

Maybe CP WOULDNT make those throws because ......HE CANT MAKE EM.

No argument here on the short memory part, but IMHO, CP has taken us as far as he can, if you put ANY weight in history........which I do.

blanket statements that say......I am right and everyone else is crazy, is crazy. And I am right on that one :wink2:

the guy has a heck of an arm, those are some fine throws

but after what I saw from Pennington this season I'd rather see him starting at least one more year, though it feels nice to see we're probably set at the position for years to come

Sparano has already named Pennington the starter. Any fan who thinks they can make better personell decisions than Sparano and our front office is crazy. And I am right on that one. :wink2:
