Im a bit surprised by that... sure the infield dirt is terrible early on... but our grass on the field is like none ive ever seen elsewhere... its so incredible looking, it almost always looks fake

Now that Wayne cashed out, he should use that money, build the Marlins their own stadium and get them the hell out of ours. Have never been able to stand that damn baseball diamond in our stadium. We have lost games because of it.

Baseball and Football, two different ends of the sports spectrum, never should co-mingle. The first puts you to sleep as you watch, the later keeps you up at night thinking about the excitement and the Phins.

im sure our grass is much more fresh than on any other field because of our weather so in a way i could see it being voted the best because of it, but also being the worst cuz the players arent used to the composition of it.

    like my scientific theory? :)

edit: oh ya, i'm sure that diamond had something to do with it too......:shifty:

Huh ????? Wayne hasn't owned the Marlins since 1998 :sidelol: That was 2 owners ago (John Henry and now Loria). I love how these out-of-South Fla people mouth off, when they know nothing

They've been trying for 10 years, but for a variety of reasons it hasn't happened. But hopefully next week county and city commisioners will vote for the stadium issue and the bonds for it. Feb 13th is a HUGE day not only for the Marlins, but for the Dolphins.

The simple solution would just be to install Field Turf, the put the rgass back in when the Marlins leave, but I guess that's a pretty expensive proposition.

Couldn't the Marlins play at any local High School field? Not like the fans would go there anyway.

See another out-of-towner that just doesn't know his facts.

The Marlins have a great fan base. They have the 9th best radio audience in baseball....and the 10th best local TV ratings.

    ITS THE STADIUM !

I live in central Miami-Dade.....and I am about 30 miles from Dolphin Stadium. There is NO WAY I can make it to Dolphin Stadium for a 7pm game if I leave my home at 5pm.

That sir, is just ONE of the reasons no one will go to the games. They are many, many more.

MLB has tried so hard to get this stadium built (and they are on the verge of the vote for Feb 13th) at the old Orange Bowl site, which is a 3 minute drive from downtown Miami, and a 15 minute drive from my house.

When the new Marlins Ballpark is built and open in 2012, you will see the place will be packed night after night.

Thanks for clearing that up! Even on Sundays it can be a pain to get to JRS. I miss going to the Orange Bowl, so easy to get to from anywhere in MIA. Haven't followed the marlins of late but I am glad to hear that they may finally get the OB stadium built, and you are right get it there and you will see a rocking stadium for the Marlins again.

You know what I'd really like to know is what is Dolphin Stadium's winning record for the Dolphins versus the Orange Bowl. (the one that was tore down) We use to have a huge home field advantage when we played in the Orange Bowl and it seems to me we lose a lot of big games at Joe Robbie, Pro-Player and now Dolphin stadium... I feel the stands feel more like they are far away from the actual playing field, which makes playing here more neutral. because it does not get as loud.

I was thinking, if I recall correctly Dolphins Stadium was opened in 1987, so one would have to look at our old season standings to make comparisons..

We played 21 years in the Orange Bowl and 22 years at Dolphins Stadium, so we definitely have a good even measuring point.

Our biggest loss in the Orange Bowl (IMO) would probably be the AFC Championship loss to the Patriots in that infamous 1985 Super Bowl, the dream Super Bowl that never happened.

Another loss would be to the Seattle Seahawks, in the torrential rain, for both games actually........

    d-1

At the Orange Bowl, regular season record was 110-38-3. Playoff record was 10-4.

At Dolphin Stadium, regular season record through 2008 is 108-66. Playoff record is 5-4.

a lot of players have said they love the arizona stadium because it is 100% flat.

something about the field going out to the parking lot when they graded it or some such thing.
