Anyone wanna bet that the player was Coles?
There was a lot of rumors swirling around during the season that Coles was very upset about dropping Penny for Favre.

Please remove this post from a forum dedicated to the 2008 AFC East Champions.

This thread belongs in the AFC East forum. The jets suck and they smell bad and news and rumors regarding a lesser team like the jets will weigh down a quality forum such as this one. Mods, please git-r-done!

Coles would be a good guess but I think a lot of the players probably feel that way.

Laveranues Coles would look good in Aqua Marine, Orange & White. We'd be more than happy to send his prima dona *** down there for a 3rd round draft pick. The guy is Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens without the statistics to back up his big, fat, concussion proned mouth.

I'd take Laveranues Coles. Maybe coming down to Florida will help him like it did for Chad Pennington. He does play for the Jets, so I don't blame him not putting up great stats.

Maybe now they could sign Culpepper if he's available. ;)

    He isn't, yet.

Leftwich > Culpepper, if the Jets decide to pick up a journey man veteran to compete with Clemens & Ratliff. I'd rather they go after a veteran like McNabb, Bulger, Campbell (rumor I heard today is he could be dealt or at least out of WASH by 2010 season) or Anderson/Quinn.

Yea, pretty sure they are not happy with Clemens and Ratliff as the #1 and #2.

If so then that organazation is even dumber than I thought.

The love Ratliff is receiving I cannot explain or understand. He had a couple of nice games against 3rd stringers, AFL'ers and UPS Truck Drivers. Do not understand the love at all.

Clemens went 3-5, really 3-4, on a really ****ty team that season. No Offensive Line, he was running for his life 50% of the time he dropped back, no running game since there was no line, Brad Smith starting 5 of his games since Coles was out or only played in one series in 5 of his 8 starts, a 34 Defense with no Nose Tackle or OLB... And oh yeah, the 2x Comeback Player of the Year and last years MVP runner up was 1-7 with that team and Jets fans STILL don't respect Clemens.

I like Clemens a lot. I think he does real well, eventually, if he ever gets a chance to start.

All of us Dolphins fans had similiar feelings about or backup qb about 7 years ago, when he played in games before the season he played pretty well he looked sharp in the preseason and some of us were baffled why he wasnt the opening day starter....We started of I believe it was 6-1 that year but we still thought the better QB was on the bench...then an injury to our starter occured and off to lead us to the promise land was our beloved QB.

His name was Ray Lucas and he ruined our season and IMO the best Dolphins team we had in the past 20 years.

Ray Lucas was awesome in 1999 with the Jets.

Except when we faced Indianapolis and he threw a pick six inside the five yard line, and that game proved to be the game that cost us a berth in the postseason. :pity:

I was joking about Culpepper ;) Clemens does not impress me at all. Ratliff did show some potential, albeit, it was against 3rd stringers, but he seemed to have more composure and a livelier arm than Clemens.

Clemens was running for his life half the time he dropped back to pass. He had zero running game and the defense he had to deal with was pathetic. He also had BRAD SMITH starting opposite Jerricho Cotchery because Coles missed or only played in 1 series in 5 or 6, I forget which, of Clemens' 8 starts.

Oh, and Clemens' arm strength is better than Ratliff. All Ratliff has is 2 more inches of height.

Completely agree on Coles. He IS Turdell without the talent.

I stated it before, the Jets went for broke last year, and it's gonna really hurt you guys for sometime.

With the retirement of Favre and the release of David Barrett the Jets are now $17 million UNDER the projected salary cap for the 2009 season.

The Jets "poor" salary cap situation, was pretty much over-rated by everyone who forgot that the cap does rise each season.

Me too. He's our best option on the roster right now. He is going to be a good QB. He went 3-5 (really 3-4) playing with absolute dog **** all around him and running for his life.

Certainly, but its a razor's edge. IF you go after one of the higher profile QB's, 1/2 of that cap is gone. Until you go after a high calibur QB, your offense will be nothing short of Mediocre.

The fact that your FO went for broke, gave up on Chad prematurely and mortgaged the teams future for one shot is very real.

Who knows, you might be able to catch Lighting in a bottle relatively cheap, but that is a one in a lifetime chance
*cough* Chad Pennington coming to the Phins *cough*

Rex Ryan wants to run the Jets exactly like the Ravens... aka, winning with a strong running game & Defense. The QB isn't going to matter much so it will be interesting to see what happens. I still think they bring in a veteran like Leftwich, Boller or maybe possibly pull of a trade with Cincinnati to get Jon Kitna, who was close to signing with the Jets before the 2006 season.

Send him to Miami I agree.

As far as the Jets new starting QB, I'm thinking... Vinny Testaverde. :tongue2:

Mangini screwed around with Gholston way too much, Ryan will simplify it for him. Also won't hurt that Gholston will be working out in Florida with Lawrence Taylor during the offseason (shoot for all I know they are working out right now).

The Jets will go after Mike Vick and replace Coles when he comes to Miami by signing Vicks bro Marcus to play WR.

Ratliff f'ing blows. If Preseason games against 3rd stringers and UPS Truck Drivers = NFL success then I should go to the Jets and try to walk on. ****. If Ratliff is the starting QB I might not watch. Brooks Bollinger is Montana compared to Ratliff.

I never understood why Garcia doesn't get more love around the NFL, he just wins games when he has even a modicum of talent to work with, and in Tampa he was the red headed step child of Gruden's...win 12 games and lose the starting slot to the Qb flavor of the month..

He'd make a fine 1 or 2 year Qb for a team that has the right pieces in place.

    Yes he would.

Would love to have Garcia come here and manage the offense. Rex talks about winning with Running & Defense and Game Manager at QB, which is exactly what Jeff Garcia is. Also, I know Antonio Bryant had a nice season but I'm going to take Jones, Washington, Coles, Cotchery & Keller over Graham, Dunn, Bryant, Clayton and Galloway anyday at this point in their careers. Not to mention the Jet Offensive Line.
