I think they can, they're very talented team. If Rivers and LT are healthy next week, they can win.

NO this sucks the PATS are catching EVERY single break the NFL has to offer... Just give them the DAMN ring now....Its pathetic... The Colts were the ONLY team left capable of beating them...

Dallas wont, Green Bay MIGHT have a shot... San Diego will get BLOW OUT next week... DAMNIT!

i think so .. cromartie can matchup with moss. jammer with stallworth and weddle can matchup with welker. they got fast LB's and good passrush. I think they will do fine vs NE, i am not sure about the outcome but i think it will be a pretty good game.

LOL, you guys not giving the Chargers are chance were probably the same ones saying they didn't have a chance today vs the Colts... I'm telling you this SD team has some kind of magic about them... they will win next week and win the whole enchilada...

If San Diego's complement of Cromartie, Florence, and Jammer play well, if San Diego's pass rush is consistent and effective at pressuring Brady, if the offense can put up points. They may have a chance.

The pats have been scored on its a matter of coming up with a scheme to make Brady eat grass a few times. Merriman , Philps and that dline need to apply the heat. If he sits in that pocket all day like vs J-ville..San Diegos doomed.

IMO the Colts were the only team that could possibly do the deed of handing NE their first loss. Now that they are out of the picture I don't see anyone being able to step up and put an end to the Pats perfect season.

I agree, they beat the Colts without LT and Rivers in the second half. And NE always have trouble stoping LT.

San Diego is a much better team than they were at the start of the season thanks to the emergence of several players (Sproles, Naene,Chambers,Weddle,Cromartie) so to say they can't beat the pats is a tad unfair.

    Exactly.

I didn't give them a chance against the Colts, and I thought they would barely get by the Titans. Either Turner has learned to coach or they have learned to overcome it.

or they've just got a lot of talent. They've got 3 pro bowlers on their OL (McNeil and Hardwick last year, Dielman this year), a dominant RB with 2 very good complementary backs, one of the most explosive TEs in the game, a solid but unspectacular WR corp (Jackson is coming into his own, CC is what he is, then Davis and Naane have given some playmaking to their offense), a very very good front 7 (with 5 pro bowl caliber players in Merriman,Williams,Olshansky,Castillo, and Phillips), and a very good secondary that goes 6 deep. (though the Chargers are at their best when Weddle is in the game and not Hart).

Not the same team that the Pats killed early in the season.

They are going into N.E. with both their starting QB and starting all pro RB injured.
Either or both may not even be able to play and if they do will either of them be able to pull off a half speed performance?

Yes the Patsies are a great team but you have to admit that all the stars have aligned for them in just about every single situation this year as well. It's simply unreal that the best team matched up to beat them lost to a team that had 2 of their offensive starts on the sidelines and another barely able to run routes in Gates. It's simply unreal.

The Colts weren't going to beat the Pats... they can't rush the passer without Freeney. THey couldn't have stopped NE, just like JAX didn't stop them. At least SD has a knack for creating turnovers (ask Peyton Manning about that). For the Chargers to win next week, remember the number 2.... 2 turnovers forced by the Chargers will win them the AFC and a trip to Arizona for the SuperBowl. The Pats have only coughed up the ball only 15 times this year which is amazing. However the Chargers rank 2nd in turnover ratio (behind the Colts). The CHargers D matches up well against the Pats. But of course, they must have Rivers starting if they have a chance at winning.

    What makes you say that?

It's not because he was mouthing off to Colt fans was it?
Personally, I loved that and I don't think giving opposing fans a little flak back makes you a prick.

I don't think San Diego can do a damn thing. Chargers 10, New England 183735.

Now, Brett Favre, on the other hand...

The weather may play a factor next weekend, right now the forecast is calling for temps around 20 degrees for a high and snow is possible. If it does happen then this game will be very close and SD has looked like a completely different team in the playoffs and LT, Rivers and Gates will most definitely play it may be their last chance to be in the championship game and get to the SB.

He's been mouthing off each week. He is definitely turning into a prick. I live in San Diego so I catch all of it. You're supposed to be better than that. The whole team actually mouths off a lot, but this year at least they're backing it up.

I kinda don't like Rivers now, even though I wanted him in Miami that year and actually backed him up the first couple of years. his behavior this year has soured me on him big time.

I don't think San Diego has a real chance next week. Maybe if LT runs for 200 yards, but that's about the only prayer they have.

I do like the idea of a Packers/Patriots Super Bowl ... and I do think, at least at this point in the season, the Packers match up the best against NE. They've got a great pair of corners, and the personnel up front to blitz Brady.

Back to the subject at hand though, I don't see San Diego stopping NE at this point in time. It'll be like the Jags game - close for the first half.

San Diego has the personnel to attack Brady. That is how you beat this team. Jacksonville did a nice job of shutting down Moss but didn't blitz and the 1 time they did Brady burned them to Stallworth. You need to blitz Brady but you need to sprinkle them in, not just on an obvious blitz situation.

If the Chargers have LT, Rivers, and Gates for this game I believe they have a shot. Even without Gates using Sproles out of the backfield is hard to defend. Plus the Chargers have a little revenge in mind. I say Chargers 30 Patsies 28 then after the game the Chargers do the "lights out dance" on top of the Pats logo at mid-field.

New England has the experienced players who have played in BIG games such as AFC title and Superbowl games. Not to mention they Bellichik and Brady and that is too much for anyone !

    FINAL: Patriots 44, Chargers 20.

Going into the season, I thought the Chargers were probably the best shot to defeat the Patriots. Then again, I thought Rivers would have a better year than what he ended up having.

As a team, the Chargers had 30 interceptions, did any other team even come close to that? I think this is the one defense that could potentially give NE offense a bit of a challenge. I'm not sure about the Chargers offense though. IMO, this game is going to be on Philip Rivers....

San Diego has the best defensive philosophy and talent to match up with New England's offense in the entire NFL. It all comes down to Rivers. If he can play within himself and make a few critical plays they can beat the Patriots. This is a team that should have beat New England last year and though New England is better this year so is San Diego. This will be the best shot for defeating New England

I don't believe experienced players has anything to do with winning a game. The Chargers have been in plenty of experience in BIG games and what has that returned? Nothing. Big Ben and a lot of his teamates had no playoff experience a couple of years ago and what did that get them...a superbowl. What did that experience get them this year? An early exit.

New England is going to win because they have all the players they need (Brady, Moss, Vrabel, etc.), and Bill puts those talents in the best situation to win. Experience as far as being a seasoned vetaren is a plus. Not experience for big games...cus you can be an experienced loser in all those big games. Buffalo Bills, anyone?

Oh, by the way, I'm CUBAN too and used to live in Miami (what a Cuban living in Miami  ) ! Ok, My point was the "experience" factor does stand up at some point. Remember last year, when the Pats went and beat the Chargers in San Diego? That wasn't just be coensidence, it's because they had "playoff" experience. And I still believe it plays a difference at some point in the game.

If they have a gimpy Rivers and LT they have no shot. I think the last hope will probably be the Superbowl. I think the Packers have the offense to score on anyone, but I doubt the Packer's defense can slow down Brady. Looks like 19-0 is very realistic for the Pats.

    a) he hasn't done much to merit being an arrogant jerk. What rings does he have?
    b) Last time I checked, sportsmanship was actually a good thing. I don't see the Mannings, Bradys or any other elite QB talking **** with the fans.
