Hello Dolphin brothers and sisters. I'm flying out from Vancouver to Florida on March 14 for a week. I'll be staying in Marco Island at a friend's place, but will be making trips to Miami, Key West and Disney World. Its my first time in the Miami area and sadly its not during football season. Nevertheless, I'm going to make a point of dropping by Dolphins Stadium. Perhaps the locals can give me some more ideas on Dolphins related activities or just some cool things to check out.
I am not a local put if you want to buy aome dolphins product go by the pro shop in Davie. I think it is near the statdium. Go www.miamidolphins.com and click on shop and it will give you directions to the shop.
If you like seafood, you need to go to Islamorada Fish Co. Its in Dania, just outside of Ft Lauderdale. I always go when I'm in Miami. http://www.islamoradafishco.com/locations_daniabeach.aspx
both are great ideas....ya, definitely check out the practice facility with the pro shop as well like RBT mentioned. definitely have to make it down to south beach night or day....got great food...dancing...people.
Thanks a lot guys. That helps out. Do you know if Islamorada Fish Co. is also in actual Islamorada? I'll be driving through there on the way to Key West?
No it's in an Outdoor World store off I-95. Not a real way to experience Miami although it's good food. You should check out the Rusty Pelican on Key Biscayne for some good Seafood/Steak. This restaurant has great food but more importantly you can't get a better setting. Right across the bay overlooking Downtown Miami. Has a deck and fire pits out back overlooking the bay and the cityscape. Beautiful place. The view is so fantastic my wife and I got hitched there. This key is just south of the city of Miami and not attached to the Keys island chain. You'd have to go here before setting out for the attached FL. Keys. Check this out.... http://miami.therustypelican.com/ If you're talking about Islamorada specifically you have to stop here. Morada Bay Beach Cafe. Great for sunset dinners. You can get a table right in the sand overlooking the bay. Great food too. My fav. place in Islamorada. http://www.moradabay-restaurant.com/index.php?id=2 Also in Islamorada you can eat at a former Dolphin's restaurant. Jim Mandich is an owner of Ziggy and Mad Dogs. Great food but pricey. http://www.ziggieandmaddogs.com/ One other thing about Islamorada. You have to stop by the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar for a night cap or mid day frosty Rum Runner. Their Rum Runners are famous. I've spent many a weekend night there growing up. Just make sure your driver orders a virgin Rum Runner. They load the regulars up at this place! http://www.holidayisle.com/bars-and-restaurants.htm Have fun bro!
Thanks Coral Reefer! I'll be sure to check those out. Can't wait for the trip to be honest. Wish it was during football season, but what can you do.
Marco is really nice. Just make sure you bring or buy some mosquito repellent as we get alot of rain in March and those bastards will eat you alive.
Big difference in crabs there Op.... At Joes you get a claw cracker, mustard sauce and a happy date With crotch crabs you get a pube comb, pesticidal ointment and a date lookin to pull a Bobbit on ya. Of course....... the first scenario with the happy date could lead to the second crab scenario depending on who were talkin bout here. Joes Stone Crabs is great no doubt. However you can't beat the atmoshphere and view of the Rusty Pelican. It's a package deal for someone that has never experienced Miami. Can't go wrong either way.
I'm going to skip on the hookers and the consequent venerial disease this time as I'm going with the girlfriend. Maybe on my next trip. Joes' crabs looks great. I'm definitely going to go for one really nice dinner in Miami and I'll take a look at all of the options. Joe's Crabs and the Rusy Pelican, which both sound like some sort of std, are at the top of the list. You guys have been great. Keep recommendations coming.
