Not with that salary cap hit and age. Anyone worth their salt in scouting could tell Adams has "it" and it's not just my predicting. Many sport bloggers, columnists, and experts are still very high on Adams.
He's already made good on parts of his potential especially in playmaking. 6.5 sacks in 2007 was roughly 2x Pepper's totals. In 2008, he suffered a slight injury before coming back on strong and still made 2 picks and a Def TD with 6 sacks. And if you look at game tape and not just stats, he commands double teams yet still gets enough pressure to let Tampa be the #4 pass defense in the league but problem was, teams could get away with it thanks to lackluster DT and opposite DE play.
Adams has done it. He's been very good for Tampa. No he hasn't posted double-digit sacks but if you watch him, I don't think you can say that he's not a very good player. There were some games this past season where he played damn well. I don't understand why its a unanimous decision in Peppers favor.
It's confidential. But for the most part, I am trying to land a stud DT and/or WR using Adams. Ask anyone who wanted Adams, those were my starting points and I asked for quite a bit (an understatement there ). Poor Straz, he's gotta go through the usual Lucky-E thread hijacking and the Adams-Peppers debates just to see updated offers.
Peppers has yet to prove he's a 3-4 OLB, like he is in your defense. If I were to choose between Adams as my 4-3 DE or Peppers as my 3-4 OLB, I'd chose Adams because at least we know he can pay his position. Oh and hey, he doesn't have an attitude problem. Oh and one more thing, he isn't one step away from 30.
Nor has Gaines Adams had motivational issues - unlike Peppers, who considered retirement after his two sack season. That's directly from him. Carolina asked him to be the vocal leader of the team and he said that he didn't want to be.
Peppers has displayed a great attitude as a Panther...he just wants to play somewhere else, that doesnt mean he has an attitude. And if there is a realistic perception of Peppers at OLB then I guess no 3-4 team will want to trade for him...(doubt that) Peppers is a more athletic Jason Taylor Im sure he will transition just fine. By the way I think Detroit will want him to be a DE so guess all this is irrelevant.
I'm going to laugh when Detroit backs out because of Peppers' salary... Also, please name all 3-4 teams that you know are interested in Peppers' services in the NFL. If your list has more than two times, I'll be surprised.
With no offers recently, I will be making my final decision on which offer I accept tonight at 8:00 p.m. eastern. Thanks guys.
The four teams that I have narrowed it down to is: Pats Panthers Bills Bucs Can these four teams all place their final offers tonight so I can make my final decision. Thanks.
Why do you insist on making negative comments about the Panthers and there moves every chance you get? I can understand someone not agreeing with a peticular move but when I keep seeing the same guy spitting negativety I cant help but wonder if it is jealousy
I think he could absolutely play it though. I actually think he could play the strong side if asked to. He's got good strength to set the edge and would be a helluva pass rusher.
Hey Carolina, is can you just re-post your absolute final offer, (All other teams can do the same) it's just hard to find everyones offer in all these posts.
Sorry to go off-topic in your thread man. I didn't even realize it until like halfway into the Adams-Peppers debate.
Oh, don't even worry about it bro. I don't mind a good football convo, I just wanna get all my offers that's all dude.
Dolphins offer the rights to Dan Marino, the naming rights to the stadium, and a free win the next time we play so that the Lions never again will go 0-16.
Why? You couldn't make a trade until 24 hours after the start of free agency anyways if it included Julius Peppers.
Because of the Panthers withdrawal of their offer, the Bucs see no reason to outbid themselves and what's already out there on the table by the Pats and Bills. Therefore, we modify our offer to a franchised WR Antonio Bryant, WR Justin Gage, RG Jeremy Zuttah (versatile 2008 pick rumored to be someone Ireland was disappointed to miss out on), DE Jimmy Wilkerson (5 sacks last year), and RT Jeremy Trueblood. Quiet you. The man has withdrawn his offer. Leave him be.
There were other players in that deal and other offers entertained, If i knew he would accept thats one thing but I could be wasting potential deals...thanks though.
dont know why you keep mentioning the ireland part. zuttah is just a back-up, so if he were a starter sure i could understand the sugarcoating comments, but he's just a player behind davin joseph on the depth chart..
