Seriously? a new Top Gun? Nothing will ever compare to the original with all the live action fighter jet shots/scenes in there... that stuff was all real! I saw when Stealth came out, i though, ohhh this could be top gun like... then they had fake planes, one with a talking computer, that went rogue... visual effects that just sucked. The only good thing about that movie was Jessica Biel... especially in the bikini scene
I know there is a difference. And again, there is no reason to cry about G.I.Joe being a "toy movie" because they did it with Transformers before that.
Adding to the list of remakes is Clue. I don't know about anyone else but I LOVE this movie and think the cast was great, the script was funny and the endings are great too. Why the need for a remake? I mean do we really need a remake of a movie based on a board game? Why not just make a Monopoly, Hungry Hungry Hippos or Don't Wake Daddy movie instead?
You guys seem to have a lot of emotions invested in your favorite movies. I don't get it (but I do respect the enthusiasm). I watch a lot of movies and have my favorites, but I have no problem with Hollywood in general. I don't care if 99% are unoriginal crap, so long as the 1% rules. I treat bad movies like bad music: I don't pay attention. If the Jonas Brothers wanted to re-record the White Album, I don't care. Let 'em do it and I won't buy the record.
Return of the Pink Panther is just AWESOME. The first fight between Clouseau and Kato has to be the funniest thing I have ever seen. I never laughed so hard in my life. Example of the humor in this movie: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpv6QUpzwh8"]YouTube - Return Of The Pink Panther Karate Kick At Cato[/ame] The fight I was talking about: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWNi2RiWgzM"]YouTube - Return of the Pink Panther - Closeau vs Cato: Round One[/ame] Never saw the new Pink Panther, and I have no interest in doing so. Nobody will ever hold a candle to Peter Sellers. Ever.
For the love of God, why? It"s so cheesy/campy/violent that I don't think it could be any better. Kurtwood Smith was just freakin' awesome-"I'm Dick Jones! DICK JONES!" IMHO, of course....
I caught 30 minutes of it a few weeks ago. I would just love to see it revamped with modern technology. Now I hear Total Recall is in the works as a remake.
Add "Clue" and "Neverending Story" to the list. This is ridiculous. I wanna punch whoever thought of redoing "Clue" in the nuts.
So does everyone have the same hatred when a band covers or redoes a popular song? I read a quote from Prince once, where he was ticked at someone for remaking one of his songs. He was ticked because they didn't try something new with that song, they didn't give it a unique spin.
I don't at all. In fact, there are quite a few covers that have improved on the original. The same is almost never true of movies.
I don't mind the remakes, as long as they bring something new to the table. I know there was a lot of disdain for Zombie's Halloween, but I loved the way it was done, the violence, the sociopathic child raised in white trash hell, it was great. Rob payed homage to Carpenter but still made the movie different from the original.
I think, for me, the stunning number of remakes, re-boots, and re-imaginings of films I GREW UP WATCHING just shows how old I am getting to be, and it damages my already fragile psyche. Hell, I am twice as old as most of the movies that are slated to be remade-does that mean I need a re-boot? Don't answer that.
Add Total Recall to the list of movies being "reimagined." http://www.aintitcool.com/node/40249 I'm so tired of remakes, it's not even funny.
AAACCCCKKKK!!!! Don't curse me like that! I say all the time-"The crazy stops HERE." And BTW, you answered that, ya bastich.
Personally, I thought it SUCKED. Who wants to know that Michael Myers was abused and had a rough childhood? That not only made him less creepy, but made you feel sorry for the guy. It was FAR more frightening to think he was as psycho as he was for NO f'ing reason!
im actually a fan of the sympathetic psychos, makes it more real, like oh your kid can be grow up to be an astronaut, or a serial killer
Yea, but isn't it scarier to say "okay, this kid had the perfect normal American family, and he just SNAPPED!"?
I thought the fact that this monster was created by white trash parents in a normal neighborhood that could have been anywhere in the country was frightening. Kids go through that **** every day, at home and at school. He could have been anyone. I know I'm in the minority with my view, but Zombie took a familiar character that had been watered down with too many movies and breathed new life into him. I'm glad he didn't rehash the original movie and stick to the script, otherwise there would have been no point in doing it. In any case, your taste in women overshadows your taste in movies, so Rob and I forgive you for not being able to appreciate his borderline genius work.
yes the leopold and loeb situation. Dont get me wrong I appreciate them leaving it up to the imagination as well, and yes the perfect upbringing would be scary as well. But I also appreciate the background as I believe it makes it more familiar. I mean how many people know a kid who has a similiar upbringing.
