I dunno the credibility of this site... but:

    http://www.thebitbag.com/2009/02/24/bethesda-has-no-plans-to-release-any-dlc-for-the-playstation-3/

Again, this is news to me.

I've heard this before. It's complete BS. It's a multiplatform game, they're doing their customers a disservice by allowing Microsoft to take DLC for themselves. Just make the game exclusive if you're going to do that. Man this pisses me off. **** Microsoft. I can't wait to buy a Mac.

if you read the article, it's not one of the GTA4 situations where Microsoft asked for it man. The developer's decision.

As much as this pisses me off, it's not uncommon in business for this to happen. Take Nike for example, they have exclusive deals with Footlocker Inc. and Finishline respectively. Not sure what Bethesda's reasoning for allowing this was (besides $$$ of course)

EDIT: Yes, Bethesda is the bad guy here. Any and all anger should be directed towards them. This is the first game Ive purchased from them and it will most definitely be the last.

I don't know that MS didn't at least make a call about this. I mean really the PC version would sell more DLC than the PS3? I highly doubt it.

However I know the PS3 version of the game was the inferior version according to the reviews I have read, maybe it is another architecture problem. Then yes I can blame it on Bethesda for being lazy and Sony for trying to out think themselves.

The reviews between the platforms were almost identical, we're talking a single point separating each one (according to metacritic at least). Sounds kind of flimsy to be the reasoning for something like this. Hopefully it isnt true, but I guess they save me some money if it is.

See most I seen were like .5 of a point but still it was less.

My honest idea is that MS did send a little money because the PC DLC over the PS3 is just foolish to me or it's because of the PS3 architecture and Bethesda is just to lazy to do the programming.

I'm thinking that programing for a 360 is very similar to programming for a PC. Thus, if you're gonna put DLC on the PC or 360 you might as well do both... I'm not sure how much different the PS3 is, but over the last years we've obviously seen that it's different.

Even if it is different if some can program for it why can't others? Either they are too lazy/spiteful or someone may have given them a little cash. Also Sony should be smacked for making their system so over done.

Apple is more proprietary than Microsoft. It's not Microsoft's fault they want to make it an exclusive. I hate monopolies as much as the next guy, but Apple isn't any better. The Mac is better than a PC debate has gotta stop. It's just ridiculous. <end of my Mac rant>

Exclusives are how consoles make money. It's also a reality I have comes to terms with. If you wanna play all the games, then you gotta buy all the systems. I know it's coming so I am gonna say, "I know everyone doesn't have the money to buy all the systems.". Yes I am in the same boat. I wanna play God of War when it is released but I don't have the extra cash to dish out for a PS3. It's been this way since the Nintendo and Sega wars and will continue to be that way.

My ps3 just decided to stop communicating with the blue ray drive so I have no sympathy for Sony atm. (Fortunately I was dumb enough when buying it to fork out extra money to get an extended warranty with the game shop so I can get it replaced) And yes I did get the red lights of death but now I have a pretty elite and well it's just so dash pretty.

But on topic – For me it wouldn't be as fun buying consoles if they all had the same games. I originally bought the xbox over the ps3 (apart from the fact the ps3 hadn't been released) but because I wanted Fable 2 - yes, that was the only reason . I then bought a PS3 for no other reason than that I could. Then a Wii. Sold my Wii as I became bored with it then my PS3 gave up the ghost and now I'm going to trade that in. The only thing I played on it was NCAA cause I had to buy that from the States. Microsoft must be doing something right for me as the 360 is now the only console I have left :chuckle:. And I'm saying that painfully as a passionate Mac user

There are mac users, and then there are trendy Microsoft bashers that follow the masses cause its cool to bash MS.

Playing all the consols.. I prefer the 360... that being said I did not like the original xbox... I liked my ps2 over it..

Brand loyalty has always, and will always, be a heated debate.

I honestly can't believe that Bethesda would do this without getting some sort of monetary incentive.

Surely Bethesda is getting money and if not **** them too. If if it was so difficult making the game for PS3 why didn't Bethesda make it exclusive? I don't recall them having any difficulties porting Oblivion either. The port runs great.

I can buy all the systems but who's to say I won't buy a multiplatform game for the wrong one? I certainly didn't know about this DLC thing when I bought Fallout. Even if I had a 360 I could have just picked it up on PS3. There's basically no difference. Like I said, just make the game exclusive so I know which console I need to buy it on. Don't screw customers over later, that's no way to do business. At least be honest. At least people knew ahead of time that the GTA4 DLC would be exclusive so they could make an informed decision.

And I'm not being a "trendy Microsoft basher". I'll bash any company that ticks me off. I don't discriminate. I want to give Mac a try b/c I'm tired of the buggy PCs I've been using the last eight years or so. If Apple sucks I'll go back to PC.

There's nothing fun about picking consoles to me. I can buy a piece of **** console with the best games that will surely break at least once or I can buy a console that's much more reliable [from my experience anyway] but obviously nobody wants to make games for it. Hopefully the next generation will be better.

    Then why buy one? :tongue2:

After my recent experience with my ps3 I wouldn't call it a more reliable console. At least Microsoft extended their warranty to cover their stuff up with the red lights/frying. I'm not the only one who's had an unwarned, unprovoked blu ray disc drive shut down, from what I've seen it seems to be quite common. And my ps3 is only just over a year old.

Anyway I'm not wanting to stir up a console war, I liked my ps3, it was a good console... I just like my xbox more :chuckle:

My PS3 did the same thing 8 months after I bought it. The only saving grace for me was Sony customer service was BRILLIANT. I had the "coffin" to send it to the repair depot at my front door in 48 hours. I dropped it off at the repair depot myself on a Tuesday (it's like a 5 minute drive from my house) and I had my PS3 back on the Thursday.

The reason for that is they tried shoveling a very expensive console down gamers throats. It didn't have to be that way. They had to include the Blue Ray drive to drive the price up. I will not pay almost $500 bucks for a gaming console. It came out after the Xbox 360 had gained solid footing and Sony wasn't selling systems for that jacked up price. If software developers don't see the big numbers for consoles sales, they are not going to make software for that platform.

My honest opinion is Sony dropped the ball big time in this generation of the console wars. The Xbox 360 will always be cheaper than the PS3 because they are no longer in the red. The aren't losing money on each console sold and they can keep dropping the price. That sells more systems and brings more exclusive software titles to their system.

This is all so frustrating. I own both systems. My Xbox360 is the old version that doesn't support HDMI. Games on my PS3 look 5* better. So I usually buy PS3 when the games are released for both platforms. Now I find out one of my favorite games of the past 10 years will not release DLC on the platform I bought the game on. Do I buy it for Xbox360 now? Not going to do that just out of principle.

The whole mess just makes me want to buy an old Nintendo and say **** technology.

Na, I didn't doubt your honesty.

It's just funny to me that they would send one back with HDMI. The Elite is more expensive right?

Are all the old systems with component cables having RROD issues? Or are they trying to get rid of the those systems because of modding epidemic?

they dont manufacture the non-HDMI ones anymore. When you get a replacement, it'll have HDMI. Seen it done twice.

No it was awhile back (1 year?) but if I sent it in now they'd probably charge me for the repair (out of warranty) or realize I was lying about RRoD.
