hmm.. interesting Idea. He sure could teach our guys alot, I just dont know if he has enough left in the tank to make an impact of his own as a player on this team, especially for the price he's going to cost us... Its going to be interesting to see how things unfold in the next 12 hours or so though thats for sure

I've never been a big fan of signing guys past their prime to teach the younger players. That's what position coaches are for.

There is no way this is going to happen. It would be a huge surprise, especially considering Harrison is undoubtedly over-valuing himself.

Umm.....without rehashing the whole thing all over again, his site lost all credibility in my mind last year. I don't believe anything that's on his site unless I have confirmation from another source.

No offense, but that guy's rep is -265 (BillsWin is less popular than Rob Johnson), so take it for what it's worth. :pointlol:

It's not uncommon for sites to "lift" rumors, especially at this time of year. And it also isn't uncommon for people to pop up and claim to be "in the know", I remember a guy on JI a few years ago that had them in a tizzy.

Personally I don't think that this FO would even entertain the idea of Harrison in Miami, his troubled background, his ice cold presence in the lockerroom and declining skills are exactly what this team doesn't need.

Wow, I'm actually a little surprised I haven't seen more support for this. If this guy comes with a decent contract, and can contribute to our football team, and mentor the very young WR corp we have...I don't see how this is a bad rumor.

If I'm not mistaken...Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez have attributed much of their success to the mentoring they received from Harrison. Ginn, Camarillo, Bess, London...these guys are young. None of our receivers have EVER had a legend to look up to on their own team.

Yes there are positions coaches who can show these guys how to do things from a technical standpoint. But this guy has lived it, done it, burned them, torched them, KILLED THEM ALL. lol ok maybe I got a bit carried away there, but I think you get my point.

I personally like our WR corp, I think Bess is a very very good football player who will get better and better over the years. I was more impressed with him this year then just about anyone else on our team, besides maybe Joey Porter. I think Ginn will progress into a very solid WR. I am also very excited to watch the progression of London. I really like that kid. I think he has some swagger on the football field.

This guy is an amazing football player. A very old amazing football player, but a great player none the less. If I could sign him and think he has a chance to rub off on our players in a positive way...man...I'm all over that. To me, its a part of building for the future. Coaches wouldn't ask players to be mentors if it did not serve some purpose.

I don't know, just my opinion.

No going to happen. Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland, and Tony Sparano are not going to give up a roster spot to an old wide reciver when they can get a young one it the draft.

People have this sour taste in their mouths about Florio. In my opinion, the dude is one of the most knowledgeable "journalists" out there but gets a bad rap from people. Hell, even the loveable ESPN has been giving him his due credit on stuff his sources tell him.

I mean i don't like ESPN as much as the next guy... but they're the "industry standard." I like Clayton and I know his football knowledge is above most. Mortensen is a joke as is Salisbury. My favorite "insiders" are in no order.. Florio, Clayton, Glazer, Schefter.

I know for a fact that Florio doesn't do any fact checking on his "tips", he'll publish anything that sounds good. That isn't responsible journalism, even for a rumor mill site. :wink2:

Not from my experience with him. I'm guessing you sent some stuff in and it got posted... "without checking on his tips." But i've heard some stuff and sent it to him and it was never posted, i'm guessing b/c he didn't have any information on it from other sources. I guess it just depends and everyone has their own opinion on the guy.

He gets a bad rap from his earlier days. He does tend to hang on certain subjects and likes to interject his opinion in and about every story...

His info is usually good tho....you just have to weed out his opinion in his stories...

Well, personally, I don't care about him adding his opinion on a Rumor Mill. Just my opinion though, i'm sure i'm not talking for the masses. If I want my unbiased professional journalism, I can find that too. But sometimes, I like to know the opinions of the people who'se website I visit multiple times a day. I guess that's just my younger generation and our love for blogs. (There's a journalism vs. blogs joke in there somewhere.)

I'd give him a chance. I believe Marvin would be better than most of you think. I think he has alot to prove, and he is more than capable of making a comeback after a relatively poor year. At least, teams will still double team Marvin and that will open up opportunities for Ginn and company. This is, of course, in addition to the mentoring that many of you mentioned already.

Frankly I am more concerned with his legal troubles than with his physical ability.

Watch some of Indy's games from last year, he's damaged goods. He was hearing footsteps all season long and was afraid of the hit and dropped a ton of balls he use to catch. Maybe Philly takes a flier on him but I can't see him being coveted by our FO.

Wow, I'm really surprised to see almost no one on board with this.

I think this is the perfect route. In fact I'm on record calling for the aging vet months ago. I was hoping for an Amani Toomer, Bobby Engram type. But now that Marvin Harrison and L. Coles are on the market (thinking they wouldn't be), I'm 100% for one of these guys.

    My reasoning was as follows:

I really think we have 3 very capable receivers on this team. Ginn, Bess, Camarillo.

    1) Bess is our #3 slot receiver for the next few years. He fits that slot role perfectly. That's just a given. That leaves our #1 and #2 guys.

    2) We probably won't draft a receiver in round 1. And for the people that want a receiver draft in round 1, that's showing that you don't believe Ginn can be a #1. And that's fine, but remember not many receivers take off until their 3rd year. Which leads me to #3

    3) I've never been a Ginn defender type. In fact I hated drafting him at #9 overall. But I'm a realist. Yes, he struggled somewhat his rookie year which had a lot to do with a crappy team. But he improved like 200% from his rookie year to his 2nd year. He showed a lot of potential and I feel he'll only get better with more experience. I truly believe he will be a very good/solid #2 receiver and potentially a very good #1. Which leads me to point #4.

    4) Camarillo in his first full season as a starter was on pace to catch something like 70 passes before he got hurt. He has the heart of a lion and just signed a new contract.

    5) The addition of Coles or Harrison just allows the 3 young capable receivers to grow even more for our HOPEFULLY serious playoff run in 2010-2011. By that time, those 3 will no longer be young, but capable veterans.
