Sucks that we have to face Bart Scott and Adalius Thomas twice a year now... Here's to hoping he is a FA bust
Not too worried about it. Whenever a highly thought of free agent lands with the Jets, their production declines.
Adaleus Thomas has proven to be quite a dud for the Pats. Yes, he was injured for most of last year, but when healthy, he has most certainly NOT been a destructive force.
It will be tough but remember The Jets are in salary cap hell. While this is going to help in one area, going to hurt them in many others. They have no money, they spent it all last year and even with Favre retiring, we have more money NOW, after our signings then they even started with.
Pace was a bit of a disappointment you would have to admit. But this signing of Scott is a no brainer, he is young, he is good, he knows Ryan's defense and will become Ryan's lieutenant in the club house. Good move by the Jets.
Reminds me of Ed Hartwell honestly, but a bit more high profile. I'd be willing to wager he won't be as good in NY as he was in Baltimore. I personally didn't want him to begin with.
apparently the salary cap doesnt mean anything anyway...the redskins were 4 mil under 2 weeks ago, and they spent $160 mil on 2 dudes.
Of the three guys that GreenMachine mentioned--Jenkins, Jones, and Pace all kept with their normal production from previous year(s). So, I wouldn't say that's true, maybe about other guys, but not those three. I wanted Bart Scott, but I'm interested to see how he plays--much like Pittsburgh those LBs haven't done much outside of that scheme. Until Joey Porter's fine season last year, those LBs from Pittsburgh when they left struggled--same with Baltimore. Adalius Thomas has had decent production, but Hartwell, Boulware, etc. haven't panned out after leaving.
not so fast..Scott is still negotiating with both clubs. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/home_NFL.aspx
I am not worried. I think Bart Scott is good but I also think the talent around him helped him be great to. He does not have that same talent in New York
I was reading on KFFL.com that he is not signed and giving the Ravens the opportunity to match the offer by the Jets. On page 2 http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl
True. I think it depends on what you think of Bart Scott as a player. Some think he's good because of the talent surrounding him in Baltimore but I think he's a good player in his own right. He's going to have a nice linebacking core in New York, - assuming he signs - Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas are nice players and dislike me if you want but I've always been a fan of David Harris. I personally think its a good signing but its just my opinion.
Bart Scott also played in probably the best defense in the league. People around him made him look better than he probably is. Once he gets working out with the Jets in training camp and preseason, he's going to be crying for Ed Reed and Co.
