Sporano's affect on tight ends

    My colleague over at RealFootball365 has a nice write up on tight ends that have developed under Sporano:

    He covers some other topics as well, but the tight end topic seems particularly relevant since that's a position of weakness for the Dolphins.

    Interesting article Hugo - it's to be noted that the tight ends that played for Sparano (current and prior) speak so highly of the guy. I think that he's got exactly what it takes to be a HC - question is, will we be lucky enough to snag him?

    Well it would be nice to get a truly impactful Pro Bowl tight end. We haven't had one in...maybe ever now that I think about it

    Don't know how you define 'truly impactful' but we have had Pro Bowlers:

    Ferrell Edmunds 89 & 90. Keith Jackson 92.

    Man, I forgot about Edmunds!

    As for Jackson, I still remember him as a stud at OU. Didn't remember that he had a Pro Bowl campaign for us either.

    That being said, it would be nice to mold someone that could a franchise tight end, not just a one or two season wonder.

    i think i heard jason witten saying something along the lines of "Sparano should be our HC" a couple of years back

    his players love him

    for us to have a pro bowl TE, he would have to be a a heck of a TE because the AFC has amazing TE's. Gates, Gonzalaz, Winslow, Heap.... i dont see us getting a TE into the probowl anytime soon. but if we could gety one with some talent, that would be nice

    this is a very good year to draft a TE IMO

    I would love us to grab Rucker

    look what Boss did for Eli, he has looked alot better since the hotshot TE went down. Boss does his job and gives Eli a target

    a nice tall TE will do wonders for Beck and our other QB's

    yeah witten said a lot of nice things about him and he had a lot of praise for sparano. he said that he will deffinitely be a successful coach in this league.

    I read that Fred Davis is going down in the charts for some reason...I do like Rucker but he's moving up so I don't know if he'll be there with our 2nd pick that we have in the 2nd round(the one from SD)and I don't know we'd take a TE at 32....I think Justin Pelle can be a good TE for us if we use him properly...for sure he can catch better than Martin.

    we might get Carlson at a discount thanks to the crappy QB's at Notre Dame

    can't wait for the combine/Senior Bowl
