Sorry.I couldnt resist the play on words .

    http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...eatures-a-pretty-accurate-ranking-of-p-1.html

The blog goes on to talk about Coles.Omar is backtracking about the possibilities of signing him .

It talks about Wilford and our options with our draft picks.

Of great interest to me was the comment that Lionel Dotson may break out to have a good year

I think they should keep Holliday for at least one more season. That's not that huge of a cap hit. IMO his veteran leadership is valuable to the defense.

I hope so.It sends the wrong message to cut a player who is providing valuable leadership to the Defense .

Nice find on the tidbit about Dotson. I guess it's clear they kept him on the 53-man for a reason - so he wouldn't be snagged of the practice squad.

I do remember the two regular season games Soliai was out, Dotson dressed.

Why would we cut him? We have plenty of room to keep him on. That would just be one more thing we need to address in the draft or free agency, and it probably wouldn't come any cheaper than that.

Well, it would seem to me that cutting Holiday without a replacement who can play as well would be a mistake, 1.5 million is not worth the loss of Holiday.

Though I suspect he could make as much elsewhere with all the teams switching to the 3-4.

Its the first time I have heard of Dotson in any kind of positive light and there may be hope there .Hope is the fuel that keeps fans going.:wink2:

Yeah, I'd be surprised if they were to cut Holliday just to save a 1.5 mil bonus when we've got a butt load of cap room. Suppose this is what Omar comes up with on a slow newsday - taking a page out of the Salguero book of "journalism".

Dont cut Holiday, not worth losing his leadership just to save 1mil.

Well I don't really think it's to save cap room.

I believe it's to free up roster spots for signing any rookies they may draft or sign.

I know that they can wait until August to make those final cuts, but why wait if you pretty much know he'll be cut before September. If you can save some money now, why not?

I think this pretty much tells you that they'll look to use a couple picks on DL and if that's the case then we're gonna have a lot of guys on the DL in camp. Keeping Holliday also inhibits a young guy from getting reps in practice.

So if you know Holliday isn't at all in your plans for the final 53, why keep him around when you can save some money. It's actually better for Vonnie that way he can search for another team.

They didn't do it for the cap room they did it because they'd like the younger players to play and to go from having six DE spots to five. They'd like to keep a third NT quite possibly.

Starks might be better than Holliday (as good of a pass rusher and a much larger guy who can hold up and protect Porter best). Merling also is quite good and it likely means that Rodrique Wright and Lionel Dotson two guys I like very much will be kept.

It doesn't create a new need for us.

    LE- Langford, Wright
    NT- Ferguson, Soliai
    RE- Starks, Merling, Dotson

    All capable players.
