Think about when the wii was first announced. Everybody thought it was dumb. The graphics, even from the start, were not great. Motion controls seemed neat but it was so different. Plus, they were pushing a game called 'wii sports' and not 'mario'. Coming off the gamecube, the outlook just didn't look good for the system from a selling point. though I agree their business strategy was down right brilliant, with them earning money off the system from day 1. But damn if "wii sports' didn't deliver. While simple and primitive, wii sports is probably the most ingenuous game this generation. no one ever played a game like it before, and everyone had to have it.
Don't get me wrong, I think it was a risk, I was just contesting the "risk in every way" part. I also think they were pushing the newest Zelda game most, since they chose to delay the gamecube version (which would've pushed console sales itself).
It is funny how bent out of shape you guys get over which console is better. They are both great systems, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Can't we just leave it at that?
After playing Fallout 3 I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back to playing any linear first person shooter.
Stay in the Gaming Forum and you will learn that this is the POFO 2.0. Everyone generally has their side, some play in the middle, but its all pointless arguing all the time.
100% pointless arguing... I pretend to make harmless threads. I'm really trying to start a console war. Which will lean to nukes... Which leads to the rise!!!
You know, if I had to guess I would say this is Bungie game. I am fairly certain they have said they were working on several projects outside of ODST, and that was some time ago. It wont be set in the Halo universe but it would not surprise me a bit if they are trying to make another shooter series.
Exactly, you pretty much know whenever anyone makes a thread in the Gaming Forum it will become a console war. Like I said if you make any thread in the POFO it will become an argument based off alliances no matter how harmless the thread was, the same happens here. Is that a good thing or not I'm not sure but it keeps people coming back.
I'll give you all a glaring PS3 weakness. I'm trying to install a simple 19MB software update to play Condemned 2 and I can't do it. The internet connection is enabled [I checked] but the connection always times out right after I start the download. Better yet, when I sign into PSN and then load the game to download the patch my system freezes and then restarts itself. Of course the patch doesn't download after that either. I've been screaming obscenities for half an hour now. Why is this so difficult? When I buy something from PSN there's no download troubles. It took me 45 minutes to get the software updates for little bigplanet to download the other day. I can't stand this ****. I'm about to throw this ****ing thing through the **** window and give up video games forever. 16 stinking MBs, what a complicated download operation that is. This has gotten progressively worse and more difficult as time has gone on. It used to just take a couple of attempts to download a patch. Now it's next to impossible.
it's all in good fun guys I own all 3 consoles, and don't really play any of them...I play PC games the majority of the time
i've had the worst experiences trying to patch games. I know EXACTLY how you feel right now. I never posted it b/c i thought it was just me
Yeah the Sony patches are quite bad. When I got Burnout Paradise a couple months ago it had to download two or three and it took at least that many hours.
I thought it was just me too. It just seems to get worse and worse. This was a relatively tiny patch too and I just ended up playing without it.
Not had that problem ..........yet I have all 3 systems don't care much for the Wii but the wife and kids love it. I like the amount of game to chose from with the 360, and I own 2 of them. had to send 1 back for a problem, not the rrod. The PS3 I like the best, just wish it had a larger selection of games.
this is the internet. More importantly, this is a message board. If theres no arguing, what is there?
is it me or are 360 patches like 100% faster to DL than the PS3s? whenever i have to download a patch for the ps3 i know im not gonna be playing the game for a while/.
probably has something to do with the hard drive space. Most 360 owners only have 20gb hard drives, but most ps3 owners have 80gb hard drives, so sony devs take less time prepping the patch for launch. Just a guess though. idk.
Very true I forgot about EA's hands being in that. Still all my updates are slow...I don't know why maybe its what Snips said.
I've never had a PSN issue. I always get a game whenever I'm looking for one.... ...and it's free everytime.
XBL is much much better than PSN IMO, but it better be since you pay for it. On my home cable connection I have little issue with updates especially the small ones. It is only on slower connections where it takes a long time.
I can plead total ignorance on this one because I've only played on an XBOX for maybe an hour (HATED the controllers) but what exactly makes XBL better? I have played a zillion games of COD 4 and 5 online and I've always been able to find a game. Sure, there are "host issues" or "disconnects" but those are issues that stem from the game maker (at least from what I've read on various boards). I've played NHL '09 a bunch and I've been able to find games quite regularly accept when EA's servers are "down". Anytime I have to patch a game it happens really quickly, I understand it is part of online gaming. Anything I have to download from PSN is VERY fast as well. I'm just confused because I've heard 1,000 times "PSN sucks, XBL kicks it's ***"....I just want to know why.
Killzone 2 is more impressive graphically than game play... not that the game play sucks, but it doesn't measure up to the next-gen greats like the original Resistance, Gears, and Call of Duty 4. It's not even comparable, IMO. Definitely second tier in terms of a shooter. Better than Resistance 2, Gears 2, CoD5, and any of those stupid Tom Clancy games... but that doesn't say much as all of the those games are average at best to me.
I agree on the gameplay part. COD 4 sets the bar as far as I am concerned. That said, I love COD 5. After playing that online since it came out I went back to COD 4 and I could not play COD 4 anymore. COD 4 is too much of a grenade fest online.
LOL! On COD4 you have to be because everyone else is. My philosophy when playing online shooters is "never die with a grenade still in my pocket".
my comment regarding how PSN is inferior to XBL was how crappy the updating of games and software updates all the time are...they take forever. also downloading games/demos etc on psn takes way longer. just saying, if you throw out the fact that you pay $3.50 a month for XBL out the window...and compare the two...well...there is no comparison.
