http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/011708dnsposparano.2a3cb295.html I notice in one of the final paragraphs it says the Cowboys have exclusive negotiating rights for at least a few weeks with the assistants who have expiring contracts. I hadn't heard this before, but it could really put us behind when it comes to putting a staff together.
PFT says their contracts run out next week, so I suppose that leaves a window of about 3 weeks, really depends on whether Jones decides he's not going to change any minds and let's them go earlier.
With Parcells experience those 2-3 weeks of delay won't impact too much. This time of the year is for working trades, evaluating free agents and building a draft board for April.
I agree. BUT, all that does not replace the input of the people who will actually be coaching the players selected. Whilst we might get the right players so to speak, the greater the consensus, and debate the better the team as a whole will be. Plus, even Ireland said the QB position is too important to not have a coach. So the regime values these guys' opinions.
