Jason Taylor will always be a Dolphin in my eyes, I don't think Bills fans hate Thurman Thomas for playing one year in Miami.

IMO, at this stage of Jason's career, he doesn't need all this offseason workout stuff, again, just ask the Bills fans about Bruce Smith. Jason, just like Bruce was good enought to just show up and play on Sundays.

He set the bridge alight in the 2007 offseason, and the slow burn finished when he signed up for Dancing With The Stars.

    Back in Miami
    Absolutely.

It's no mystery what Parcells EXPECTS from his players and coaches.
He wan'ts people that eat, sleep and dream football.
He has publicly stated it let alone what he must say behind closed doors to all of them.

It's the level of focus Parcells himself has displayed everywhere he's been so it's not out of line for him to expect that either.

There are some that look fondly on Taylor and his past and why not?
He was a great player for us during his prime.
Having said that, the Jason Taylor that has emerged recently is one that clearly has one foot out of the door already when it comes to football commitment.

He has other focuses. Nothing wrong with that and there's nothing wrong with some teams downgrading his worth because of that lack of commitment either. You're paying these guys millions to be professional football players.
Taylor isn't worthy of that paycheck anymore.

IMO there's a better chance of Peyton Manning being outright released by the Colts than there is of Parcell's crew bringing back Jason Taylor.

I guess I'll never understand all this. There are so many players out there not worth a flip and their rarely mentioned. But, let JT's name come up in any way and people jump all over it. Mostly negative stuff.
I like the man as a player, as a person etc. I would like to see him in a Dolphin uni again.
I still never heard him speak badly about the Dolphins as a team or, an organization.
So, he danced. That was all planned way before bp and the new regime came in, so how can they say they didn't know about it?
I don't want to debate this at all, I just don't understand some of the hate that goes on.
I love the Dolphins first and foremost, but there have been many of the players that I loved also and really got upset when they left. (like Zonk) But I never hated any of them. Why would I? They're ballplayers first, that's their job.
Plus, to me the franchises are no longer loyal to any of the players like they used to be. Shula said free agency was a big down fall to the nfl and I see his words being more true every year. (i heard him say it years ago, and no, I have no link or proof)
Ok, I'll quit now, just don't be to hard on me for liking JT alot. I have my opinions the same as all of you.
So, when you speak of me----speak kindly!

    LOL Deb,
    Who didn't love JT?!
I was done with him when he put on his dancing shoes....Just something not right about that for me.
I'd never hate him, he brought many smiles to my face in our worst season ever.
    I'm movin on though....:)

I wish he'd come back to Miami. I don't care what anybody else here says. People act all butthurt because he went on that TV show. He's human, the spotlight was probably just too hard to pass up. People love to jump all over a guy who did a lot for the south Florida community. They didn't give him the Walter Payton man of the year award for nothing. With some good offseason work he can still be a difference maker on defense. He was playing hurt for the Skins last year. He played hurt for the Dolphins a lot too. Something that is conveniently overlooked. If he would come back at a modest salary and play mostly in passing situations it could be very beneficial IMO.

You have good points. The reasons here I have highlighted in bold (the good part) and the part surrounded by these -- --(the bad part) are the reasons why I think so many were/are upset at JT. This is also why I think a lot of teams don't want to take him on. 12 teams is roughly half the league, but a lot of teams with new coaches, etc are trying to implement the same "team first" attitude and it won't matter if the guy is a "X" year vet because if the coach lets one guy get off the hook by showing up in the offseason and just putting on pads the rest of the guys will want to do it as well. There is a ton of stuff that goes on between the draft and training camp that teams use to their advantage to help them gel way before the pre-season. Opting out of that is a disservice to both the organization and ones teammates.

Great player? Great person? Absolutely. Can he just show up on sundays and play? Probably. But it shows bad chemistry in my opinion. And the team is - or should be - more important than the player. Which is coincidentally why TO will not be playing in a Phins uniform this year.

Recently when it has come down to team play or personal focus JT has chosen the latter. And that is why I think his windows of opportunity are narrowing down in the NFL and will come to and end sooner rather than later.

    edit:

    and just to comment..

it's not bad if a player chooses something over football but they seriously need to consider their commitment to the team and the game if they do.

do they want to play football or move on? starting on a 53 man roster is an important job in the NFL and if JTs commitment isn't there a young up and comer on any team could use that spot.

I would think they will still go into the ring together, they both deserve it. Regardless of how anyone feels about how he left he played at such a high level here for so long no one can take away his right to the ring of honor. He was one of the best defensive players we've ever had.

JT has been nothing but an ideal citizen and a credit to the Dolphins .

As the best DE in Dolphin history he certainly will have a place in our Ring of Honor and maybe even the HOF .

He is not the first veteran player who regularly misses the OTAs and there will be teams who will want his services despite that.

If he should play for another team I think he will wait until the last possible minute before he decides who to play for .

Personally I think he has lost the passion for the game and he should retire .

What are you talking about? He obviously misses the workouts because he's a selfish prima donna. I also heard that he shakes babies in his spare time.

What's always amazed me is how quickly fans turned against him after all of these years based on nothing but perception. That's it. Nobody knows the man or his motivations, I do however know what he has done for the team and the community. Apparently that carries no weight. I'm glad the Army is not treating me so badly because I've decided to leave.

At the top he spelled it Jason, then further down he forgot how and changed to Jayson. Must be some inbred Jets fan writing it.

Oops, just looked and he calls himself Raider_Dave. Raider fans are just above Jets fans on the food chain aren't they? :wink2:

Is Csonka in the ring of honor? Didn't he desert the Dolphins to play in the WFL?
