BTW - I'd like to thank everyone on behalf of dolphinsnation and celtkin for being so patient while the Admins are working out the kinks. And thanks to Celtkin for keeping this site open to us so we have somewhere to hang while it's being worked on.

Word is that it's database errors that are still popping up now and then........we have admins that literally worked until they couldn't stay awake any longer last night and I'm sure they'll be right back on it today....DN/FH should be back up sometime today

Yeah this is a different problem than the last couple downtimes. This looks like infins says a DB issue. The other times we weren't able to get in was hardware related. Once the backend of this site is finalized it is going to rock. One of the issues that we have had lately is the load balancing of the traffic craps out, dropping everyone from the site. Muck is looking into the feasibility of replacing it with something more effective. Once that happens this site is going to rock on days of excess like the draft, FA signings etc. However until we get there and it aint cheap to get there we will need to be patient. The gents that maintain this site work bloody hard but are doing this as a labour of love without recompensation, and need to be able to sleep too :)

Now's the time to join VIP people. You not only help out the site, but for about 3 bucks a month, you get the best Fins analysis on the web. Believe me when I say, you will enjoy the offseason much, much more if you VIP.

I was born in England, but grew up in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. My dad is English, born in Barnes and my mum is Irish, from Lahardane in County Meigh Eo. From there my heritage is English, Irish, French, have family there still, Scottish, Lithuanian and Spanish (the last pasrt is not confirmed, more of a family joke as my mum is black irish and my dad loves to give her crap about the Spanish Armada being wrecked on the shores of Western Ireland and corrupting the fair irish lassies).

But after all that I consider myself a Caymanian and a proud West Indian!

Damn straight, I have been chatting with Muck on a piece of hardware that I have used to solve the load balancing of network issues and its not cheap. We have to remember that there is a crap load of traffic on this site and as such the equipment that is needed are higher end, thus higher cost.

$36 a year for what this site gives us is cheap, but so needed so that the Admins and owners can maintain FH to the standards that we (users) have to come to expect. This is a professional site run by amateurs without the professional budget. I have been in the IT industry for 10 years and involved with FH since 2002 and am continuously amazed how much we get from how little that is put in financially.

That is not including Celtkin who has given us this reprieve.

FH staff and Admins you all rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ffic:

I want to be known as a Celtic-American, now that everyone has to have an adjective added to our nationality over here. Irish, Scots, German background on Dad's side, English and French on Mama's. And somewhere, a tad of some Cherokee snuck in - not enough to get me a scholarship, though.

It must be FH thing.I am Celtic as in 3/4 Welsh and 1/4 German .Descendants from the last Welsh Prince of Wales according to a family tree made by an uncle of mine ...not that it means much because he was drawn and quartered and his remains were left all over Wales to remind everyone that Edward Long Shanks was in charge....the same English king in Braveheart.

We did warn everyone that we were in a beta stage....like in we beta be patient..

That's cool Crunch! My Dad has a genealogy that takes our family tree (on his fathers side) back to when the puritans bailed out of England in the the early 1600's. His Mum though was 100% Welsh, so I guess that makes me at least 1/4 Welsh. I know this sounds ignorant, but until I read your post, I didn't realize that Wales was considered Celtic. My dad has always considered us English. This revelation could explain a few things though. Like why I absolutely love going to the Scottish Highland games and listening to the bag pipes play, etc!

    Steve :)

    Hey guys,

I get so consumed with the main site, I forget to check in here when things go south.

Last night we had an issue with the database. Don't worry, it wasn't the active forums db. :) At any rate, it became a clusterfudge that took some time to sort out.

I'm performing a restore as we speak and should be back in a few hours once it completes.

The Celts were the predominant ancient population in Europe and in Great Britain until the Roman and the Germanic tribes such as the Anglos, Saxons,Jutes ,Franks and many other germanic tribes started to push them into the extreme part of the continents. The Vikings had a role too in pushing out Celts.Thats why you find Celt descendants in the extreme parts of Great Britain and Europe. In the UK they are in Ireland,Scotland and Wales. In Europe you will find them in Western parts in Spain and France. They were pushed out in effect.

Correct you are brother... The CELTS were a very savy bunch and true warriors but their numbers were not enough. This pushing also resulted in many finding their way here to the US early on. Due to their skills and dicipline, many went into law enforcement and that is why that the PIPES are played at many of the funerals for cops today in the northeast and as far west as Chigaco...

I am Croatian on my dad's side....my grandpappy fled there as a little kid in 1914, right after Archduke Ferdinand got knocked off which started Word War I. He arrived at Ellis Island with nothing but the clothes on his back......my mom's side is from Belgium (Flemish)....so I am a mutt.

You know...Jason brings up a good point here. Something maybe the admins want to think about.

I think $36 is alot for some on here...in one lump some. We have some poor college kids...some cash strapped parents etc...But couldnt you make it a monthly payment of say $4.00? That increases the fee for VIP to $48...but $4 a month is a smaller pill to swallow. I think we could get more jumping in if we say $4 a month.....

Not sure of the logistics on this....

But just wanted to throw that out there.....
