I've bought two lites (one for me and one for the fiance).

There isn't really much to compete against in the handheld market, though the psp has done an admirable job. The gameboy is a staple and it would sell well regardless.

How many people got a DS, then got a DS lite, and are going to get a DSi? I'd like to know that.

Nintendo sells on name alone, and I can only think of one instance where something they put out was pretty much a huge disaster, and from what I recall it was because of cost of the system, game selection, and the possibility of mental health issues due to use.

Is the virtual boy that thing that you strapped around your head and was red?

i used to have both. After Crisis Core and God of war (which ironically came out in the same month) I sold the psp. There hasn't been a quality title since.

I'll miss crisis core but the psp just has no support. its unfortunate cause it has so much potential.

The DS, however, is the greatest handheld ever made. You can play it with the touch screen, or just regular buttons like the gameboy. It's light, it's small, it's cheap and you can play mario on it. Doesn't surprise me one bit that it's hit 100 mill.

Good for Nintendo and the gaming industry. With the economy going south and game development costs going north, portable games should finally outgrow their status as development afterthoughts.

That said, the best games on the DS are remakes (FF4, DQ5), ports (Bangai-O Spirits, Disgaea), or both (Phoenix Wright.)

To me it mirrors the Wii with all the younger games. I play a lot of emulated game on my PSP as well as surf the web.

Excluding all of nintendos titles right? Cause Phantom Hourglass, New SMBs are two of the best.

Oh and the best game Sqaures made in years IMO, World Ends With You.

It has plenty of games for just about every age group, that's why it's so successful. Square has thrown their support behind the DS big time with both remakes of FF III and IV, chrono trigger, World ends with you, and FF Tactics and several more even. Then theres other stuff like ninja gaiden, sid meiers revolutions and professor layton.

I meani hate to be a list guy but when it comes to software, the ratio of quality games for the psp in comparison to the DS is down right ridiculous.

The only real reason to still own a psp is exactly what you said, emulators.

Phantom Hourglass wasn't nearly as good as the reviews suggested, and while NSMB is one of my favorite Mario games, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the games I listed.

The two Megaman ZX games are the best original games on the DS, IMO.

I like the fact that I have a portable device that will do more than play games. I like to be able to watch movies, listen to music, surf the web, and of course play games. The DS has sold a lot but from what I have seen from my experience is that the games that are bought are Cooking Mama and Imagine: Baby Sitter.

The problem I have with the Wii and the DS is that no one buys the games that should be bought and buy the games that are pure crap. Than again what does a 7 year old know about good games anyway.:tongue2:

I already play Chrono Trigger on the PSP:lol:

I have one with the pretty much required AC Adapter and magnifying screen. Plus countless games, I wish I had the TV/Radio tuner they made for the thing.

Here is a link with some pics and info. about the thing. This thing was so far ahead of its time and still amazes me.

Same here. I've never really had much use for it after I got my iPod touch. Still kept my PSP since a few movies I only have on UMD plus I loved MGS Portable Ops, SF: Dark Mirror, and Ace Combat X. A lot of the games I had for the DS were Japanese imports given to me by a friend. Never really liked anime even though I'm Asian.

Oh i agree with that entirely. If Madworld doesn't sell over 100,000 copies at least I think part of me may actually die.

Again, I liked the Psp as a piece of technology. It has a lot going for it. If they can come up with a better battery life and maybe ditch UMDs for something more practical, I will probably get Sony's next handheld. But as someone who mainly just wants to play games (cause i have an ipod and cell phone for everything else) i couldn't merit having it anymore. Though Crisis Core is still my 2nd favorite handheld game.
