One less turd from that station on the airwaves in S. Florida.

I couldn't stand that arrogant guy.

I think part of it (legitimately) is in these depressing and stressful times, his grating schtick wore thin...

    I agree.

That and advertising levels have dropped considerably.

That means downsizing or pay cuts for staff and on air personalities.
This guy has an ego the size of Manhattan.
I could see him telling them to go stuff themselves if they even hinted of giving him a paycut.

Joke will be on him in this market though.
He's burned bridges in the industry before and I could see him taking peanuts to spew his rants in some small market in the sticks.

    So long and good riddance.

It was disgraceful to have a Heat and Dolphin hater on a local station.

Ship his a$$ back to NYC.

Sid Rosenberg was probably the worst thing on either of the two stations. There are erectile dysfunction and pyramid scheme ads I've liked more.

Sorry the guy lost his job. I only listened to him a few times when he first came down to S. Fla. Other than talking about the damned Giants and bragging about knowing somebody who had something to do with "Sopranos", I don't really remember anything about him.

Sid is a good guy BTW....his love for all things New York was obnoxious though.

Get a good host and team him up with OJ.

No more interviews with meaningless people (to the sports world) like Ozzy Osbourne's wife... nice.

Sedano would be a good morning time drive person -- he is young, energetic, generally upbeat and Miami born and bred who sees the events through the same purview as the listeners.

    Nope.

I listen to sports talk radio to hear about the local teams, not the NY Football Giants or how much the Miami Heat suck...

When the team sucked the homers were killing the team.

The only thing good about Sid was he turned his life around. As a radio host he belongs back up in New York.

But Sick his "NYishness" just turned me off. That and his hate for all the South Fla teams. It never made sense to me, to have a personality that didn't just dislike, but actually LOATHED the local teams.

Sick I do feel for his family, because I know he just became a father recently, but he really should have been a little bit less-NY homer, and put his hate for South Fla teams behind him, to get his job done.

But it also gets old listening and meaningless to me (I turn the channel) when all we get from a Miami station is interviews with NY Giants or NY Jets players and coaches. I listened to him like about 3 or 4 times and it was only for a few minutes at a time, because that obnoxious accént drove me to turn the channel.

It's not just that, either. He probably half the time namedropping barely-famous celebrities he's met, or talking about that washed up old lady Don Imus.

Everyone has guilty pleasures, but Sid Rosenberg is awful and wouldn't be in the business if he hadn't rode Don Imus' nuts to "fame", if that's what you would call hosting your own show on a 3rd rate AM station and drawing barely existent ratings.

thats not fair....when i worked for the station he was the ONLY host to do his show live from marlin spring training games (before the marlins moved to 790 from QAM) and would book marlin players and personell....he would do live remote spots from marlins caravan tours......how do i know he booked marlins players and personell?!? i called and booked them for them while i was interning there

i understand the dislike for sid....he is a ny homer....and annoying ny accent....i just know hes a good guy.....and he did, maybe in small doses...tried to do live spots at marlins games....you never saw lebits, boog or anyone else do it as much.....so i give him a little credit...

but i agree the soprano guests got old and the crappy name drops....

eh hes gone now, good luck to him

what gets old is listening about all things New York City and their transplants.
As they say...if things are so great up there, why are you here and why not go back there. Good bye to all his stories on his past transgressions (and he makes lite of his drugs and booze and broads) his harrasment of females and anyone Not Jewish. good ridance.
speaking of Homers talking of local topics...how much would you listen to about Duke-NCst.-Unc. basketball and things near and dear to your home??:walkman:

you obviously dont know me.....so i wont go into too much detail. but i hate college basketball.....i just moved up to NC a year ago from west palm beach fla.....after being born and raised in south fla....i worked at 790 the ticket and 560 WQAM and now i work at a sports station in charlotte.

incase you missed the memo......or havent seen the mix of fans at dolphin and marlin games.....its not all just miami fans down there. infact i saw more yankee hats then marlin hats in west palm and working in miami. and go to a dolphin jet game in miami......half the stadium is chantin J E T S JETS JETS JETS

sure sid didnt appeal to you and other dolphin fans....but he had a fan base and audience, and that was apparent by the packed remotes and busy phone lines during his show everyday.......

the post wasn't aimed at you, but rather the area you have down as to where you live...thus the duke,nc...basketball ref. as to what locals want to listen to.

i do agree. but miami is 1 million times different than charlotte. the amount of transplants in south florida outnumber the number of PEOPLE in charlotte total......sports radio is a tough situation down there, because there is so many damn different fans of different teams........up here its all the local teams are the majority so its easier to make everyone happy....

believe me i have been a producer in both markets. down in florida if we leaned too much on dolphin talk....we would get emails "talk about the yankees" "talk about the cubs" "talk about the jets" "talk about the patriots"

its a tough spot man....believe me

been here since '58...even before the dolphins existed....zonk & s. towle were customers of mine at my deli. just as miami is different than charlotte...New York is different that Miami....how would the new york radio stations (listeners) put up with excessive talk and referances about the florida sports teams. sff33...thats why local stations are for local sports teams nas ESPN...Sport News and such nation sports shows are for relocated sports fans from other areas. Or am I wrong....your the radio expert:up:

your still not getting my point....NY listeners would not like hearing about other teams because its mostly ny'ers.....miami is a different beast my friend. it is a cluster**** of different teams fans.....its hard to appeal to everyone....well its impossible....because most people like different teams. it is NOT all dolphin, marlin, and heat fans down there.....its a ridiculous mix. i dunno if your last statement is a jab at me.....but if it was....yes iam the expert considering i push the buttons, i schedule the guests and talk on the mic....edit

it was no jab...a referance to your abilities and knowledge...i don't insult any posters. I was making hoagies/subs/poor boys since 1962 ---i was flipping hamburgers and eggs over easy in pans (1959/61) since i was 12 (working for my uncle at Royal Castle in dania). just for grins...new york is supposed to be "the melting pot of america" is that a misnomer as far as listening audiance is concerned.....not to be a smart a-s just reading your responces so as understand the dynamics of your position:hi5:

Well he turned me off so early after he got here, I never heard those Marlins interviews, which I certainly would have enjoyed. You know I am a huge Marlins fan.

But his behavior right after he got here was enough to make me turn him off right away. I hope he has learned and can apply that in the future. He needs to at the very least be neutral to the home town team, to keep listeners listening.

I am glad someone else said it, this also bothered me a lot. He really was offensive at times about his religion. As a Christian I certainly was offended by many of his remarks. And I only listened to him 4 times perhaps. :pity:

    Gotta add some input here.

First off, the knock of Sids approach with NY teams and knocking the teams here is legit. He went out of his way to bash them and the S. Florida area in general. He appealed to the transplants and attacted those callers. Those people that are sick of hearing those transplants around them daily as it is, now they have to hear them on the radio. It's no mystery why people hated him because of that.

As PMZQ said, if he's going to go into any market other than NY, it would be professional of him to at the least be diplomatic of the hometown teams and assessing them. Expecting Rosenberg to be professional may be a little to advanced however.

Regardless of that, he sucks anyway. He brings little of substance to the table in his show ever. It would be easier to put up with his grating style and anti local bias if he actually put on a valuable show. Many have given the examples of the crap that made up a majority of his show.

Secondly, as to the suggestion that Sid is really this great and down to earth guy outside his show, that what you get on the air is just his schtick.

    That's crap.

Like Sick I've dealt with the man personally. Not daily like he did but I had my experiences and know sales people and clients that have dealt with him as well. I've been in advertising for years and had my own shop down there for a couple years. Through that I've done a lot of dealings with radio people and planned remote appearances.

What you hear on the air is EXACTLY who Sid is.

You know sometimes as much as people villify stereotypes, the truth is, that they don't come out of thin air. Just because a stereotype exists dosen't mean the entire group or even the majority are like that but it does mean that there is a large enough faction of that group that does act that way for the stereotype to have been created.

People like Sid Rosenberg are the ones who are responsible for the stereotype of that loudmouthed, rude, arrogant, grating and tactless goombatz type NY'er. It is exactly who they are and they take pride in it.

I've seen Sid deal with the public, advertisers and clients in a very unprofessional manner personally. It's hard to feel sorry for someone of that sort. He made his bed IMO.

Sid don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out of FL! :tongue2:

O.J. McDuffie is one of the nicest people on the planet and he wanted to kill Sid when he first met him.

Now they claim to have become friends since then but I'm guessing they have not seen one another much since OJ was let go.

I've never dealt with the man but I don't think I have to do that to get an idea of who he is. We've herd Sid wear his heart on his sleave since he was hired. I say best of luck to you Sid, but 790 might have just gotten a listener back in what used to be your slot. Good luck and thank goodness!!

You still have that deli 2 cents?

If so where is it and if not what was it called?

I'm an S. FL. native born and bread as well.
Little later than you but I was there.

I remember a sub shop in Miami Shores in the late 70's and 80's that named all the sandwiches after Dolphin's players. I've wondered if it's still there.
