What do you guys think about him? Is he too crazy for Miami? He just got released by Jacksonville. He could be a nice target for Pennington...
NO, NO, NO, NO oh please god NO. I live in gainesville, near Jax, so I have see a few games in person and all i can say is he is a waste of talent. No route running skills, not really good hands, and is not interested in catching the over the middle pass. Pass
Oh my god... I had to log in from work on my blackberry to say NO to this because I'm so against it... Please NO. We don't need that character here! NO!!!
hes one of the worst recievers in the league both physically in terms of skill, and mentally. Not to mention he is a jack*** who probably deserves to be in jail... Waste of great size, strength and potential.
If there was ever a guy cut who wasn't worthy of a "Hey, this guy was cut. Should we sign him?" thread, this would be the guy.
Good posts in this thread. Matt Jones is a failure as a receiver and a human being. I predict he will never play another down in the NFL.
please. matt jones is 6'6 220 and runs a 4.3. he had over 700 receiving yards on a bad football team in like 11 or 12 games. he served jail time for drinking beer. hes going to get another job.
One thing you can say about Tuna and Ireland. These guys hate drama. Any player who distracts from the business of winning games is not their type of guy. No way do they pick him up I think.
I'd rather wait for Rae Carruth to get out of prison. At least he can run a route. Posted via Mobile Device
Does no one remember the Joey Porter/Matt Jones "feud" from earlier this season. That reason alone coupled with the several good ones already posted in this thread are reason enough to just say no to Matt Jones.
Well, he might get another chance, no doubt because we all know that potential talent outweighs morals in the NFL. That's the reason why guys like Haynesworth, Pacman, TO, Ocho-Cinco, Tank Johnson, Ricky Williams, etc keep getting jobs despite being and/or having issues with either substance abuse, attitude or the law in general. Now, Jones doesn't rank up with those guys in talent shown so far. That is why he's no longer a Jag...he's just never lived up to what they envisioned for him there. Is that due to his off-field issues, sure but it's also partly due to his on-field issues as well. The thing is, you can always say that the reason he had on-field issues as a WR there were due, at least partly, to the offensive scheme, QBs and play selection. That said, before he comes here, I'm sure the Tuna would want a clarification of a) where the kids head is at right now, b) where the kid's law issues are, c) where he stands with the league in regards to his law issues and finally d) what they think of his potential as a WR. All things in that order....just the fact that he may or may not have the potential to be a good WR isn't enough, given his history...I could see him ending up in Dallas if, and a big IF, his head is where it needs to be...
Did any of you actually watch Matt Jones last year? He played very well and proved that if his head is in it he can make plays. The problem is his head isn't always in it and the off-field issues are too alarming. So, I'd pass.
so? and hes never going to get a NFL job again because he was caught with cocaine? with his kinda talent? again, please. thats delusional.
my answer to the question would be no, but not for the reasons you guys are saying no. I just font think he'd fit in well, or even be an upgrade to our WR Corp, but to say the guy is a horrible WR is plain ignorant. Posted via Mobile Device
I need to create a form letter thats required to be filled out by anyone thats ready to create a thread about some loser that just got cut or released. Everytime some clown gets cut because they're so stupid they don't see they have the world in their hands, someone...inevitably....always pops up a thread about looking at them or signing them. No, I'm not dogging the OP. Just the continued idea that permeates about signing bad players.
