Sorry bro, that really sucks. I'm glad to hear that your wife is working at least and you'll be okay until you find something else. You're good people, you'll come out of this stronger and in a better place.
Sick, I think that you are a talented guy, and with any luck, this is happening to you for a reason. I've been laid off before, and I couldn't understand why it was happening ... then I moved into a new job and found out that I had bigger and better opportunities, almost literally waiting for me around the corner. With any luck, this is the same thing that's happening to you. Good luck my friend, you will be in my thoughts.
Hang in there, Chris. As others have notes, the one bright side is that this was an amicable parting of the ways, and you leave with good references intact.
Holy F....,man! Sorry for the late response(don't post much anymore) That is terrible news to hear.I am very sorry this happened. Hopefully things will turn out right.I'll pray for that silver lining, bro!
I just saw this dude. Leaving on good terms is def the way to go out. You can take pride in the fact it wasn't performance based. As you said, the Radio business is basically **** right now. Worse comes to worse, you can always move back to SoFla
may i second this suggestion? you're a quick-witted, talented, awesome guy and I know you'll bounce back. Just stay persistant and don't let one bump in the road getcha down. Any time you need me you know i'm here for ya!!
Sorry to hear the bad news bro. I think the advice in the thread is pretty solid and the generosity shown by PMZQ to offer his help quiet telling about the board. I dont know much about the radio industry but I have found myself in a similar situation when I worked in advertising a few years ago. I didnt even realize how miserable I was in that field til I got out. Sometimes stuff like this can be a good thing so long as you find something better, and I hope you do.
*****Update***** Program director was a little surprised i came in today. Good thing is i didnt have to stay for any BS meetings or editing.....they had interns working on those, so i was out by 2. Then i went by suntrust to get a few hours, opened some accounts......and as if god was helping me out, the manager CAME TO ME and asked if i would be interested in being a full time FSR (financial service rep) i almost started crying and told her my situation, and how i was going to come to her for more hours.....she laughed and agreed its a perfect situation, clients like me alot...and always suggest iam there fulltime to help them with their needs. So monday F'ing morning i start full time at suntrust bank. only bad thing is i have to help the tellers when they are short or busy.....ugh i hate teller work (i did a little at wachovia in florida) its not my dream.....but hopefully it will help lead me to it. but praise god i have full time work, less hours (i was bustin 60+ hours a week at the station) 9-5 isnt so bad and weekends off thanks everyone for the kind words and advice....i will still be sending my demos out from my show this comming saturday to other program directors throughout NC.....hopefully iam on a morning show somewhere, fullfilling my dream as a on air host. keep those fingers crossed!!!!!
good **** bro. sorry im late was planning on catching you on aim, but sorry about you losing your job, glad its working out though.....
it was mind blowing and a miracle....honestly....i called my wife and balled like a baby, this world is tough right now....and i was scared ****less i couldnt provide for my family.....nothing worse then not being able to give your son everything he needs let alone everything he wants....thank god for this opportunity
As others noted, your a good person man and I know your a good father. You'll do anything to give everything you can to your family, especially your son. I think twas Vengeful Odin who said it and I think he was dead on when he said that good things happen to good people. This was just another example of it.
Way to go Chris. I'm so happy for you and your family. Miracles do happen and there are a lot of good people out there. Best of luck and I'll be praying for you and your family.
Glad to hear you're on solid footing and hopefully you get a chance to get back to your dream job in no time!
Sick...sorry to hear about you man...but...there is a bright side...just might not see it now... You are right about not burning bridges...you never know when you need to cross one... There is that ole saying, "one door closes, another one opens," just make sure you know when opportunity knocks... As others stated, work your last week... on the bright side, I am not a pshychologist, but I did stay in a "Holiday Inn Express" once... EDIT- SHould have read the whole thread... and I am happy for you also...
Chris good news dude ! Its time to When the Lord closes one door, He always opens another. It may not lead to the path of your choice, but its one that may lead you to greater understanding of His purpose for you in this life.
im not really religious, im agnostic. but i do believe in karma. bro, youre a cool guy with a positive attitude on life and you take care of whats important, that leads to good karma. same thing kinda happened with me and my job, i wasnt making much at publix and was barely getting by, living paycheck to paycheck because my hours kept getting cut since my store had slowed down since three more publixs opened near it. my manager wouldnt give me fulltime and wouldnt let me transfer because he had crap for help. so i worked on the side with this guy whos a vendor helping him on his route. he works for a grocery distriubtion company that specializes in organic and natural food with alot of other different kinds of food that publix and other stores dont carry in their warehouse, they supply it for them. right around the time i had a thining wallet, no savings, and only making enough to pay my bills, the guy set up an appointment with one of the group managers with his company and came to me one day and said to call his cell phone, without me asking. so i dressed up nice and showed up to the meeting and sure enough i got a call three days later saying i got the job. i now make five times as much as i did at publix and im saving like crazy to eventually get my own place and a finally a new vehicle. all in the while i took care of business and didnt get too stupid with my money. And now Im still a cheapskate, i just like to watch my account grow, grow and grow! hopefully with this new opportunity, you can save up and eventually you and your family get a place of your own and you can start to enjoy life and living out your dream, as a radio personality. hope it all works out for you man.
great to hear chris he sure is taking his sweet *** time with me that's for sure. maybe he has developed arthritis.
Great news Brother Chris! I am very happy for you. I am glad you didn't have to go through what I did for 7 months.
A financial services professional? God help you. Said the man whose table is set by self-same industry.
except for that one time where the dude, broke down and couldn't take anymore, and then more was put on him. But other than that, I suppose you are right.
