I ended up getting the red ring of death while I was trying to play. I proceeded to take it apart and try fixing it, voiding the warranty and also not being able to fix it. The fans don't spin or anything now. So as I'm waiting to determine if I'm going to buy a new one or not I decided to hook up my ps2 and throw in MVP 2005. I played the hell out of this game when I first got it and I'm enjoying it alot right now. Just felt like sharing
I wish Microsoft could just once and for all fix the RROD problem... the 360 is a great system IMO... such a shame we have to deal with these problems. Hopefully the get it right next time
Yeah always best just to send it in, especially if its still under the free warranty. Since thats not an option check around to see if anyone will fix it. Those that know what they are doing are decently reliable. If not and you decide to get a new one, make sure its a newer model, Jaspers I think. They have upgraded hardware so it isnt quite a problem like the first series were.
I got mine about 1 month after launch and this is the first time it has happened to me. I might just spring for a new one so it at least has the hdmi ability. It certainly is ashame it happens so much because I love this system alot and hopefully this doesn't become habit.
If you do get a new one, make sure the AMPS on the back of the console say 12.1A. You can check this through the hole on the box that lets you see the date made and the serial number. Though you may have to peel back the cardboard some to see it. That will mean you have the newest model of motherboard they are sending out, the 'jasper' board.
Grab Socom 2 for cheap and run some Crossroads, Sujo, and Fish hook. If my PS2 still worked I would still play that over most 360 titles.
suggestion... If you know someone technically savvy (or if you can do it... It's not very hard, look for an online tutorial). Buy a new 360 cash and swap the insides. Then return it for your cash back (works like a charm in Target, Walmart, and Costco). I know it feels like you're screwing the company over, but really they're sending back to Microsoft for purchase credit. When you return it, say that it RRoD'd right out of the box, and you are fed up with the Xbox. You want your money back and you'll buy a 360 eventually. I've done it. Twice.
I just got the 1 red flashing light.....mother f***er. I've actually been playing the crap out of it too so this really sucks. $100 to repair it, not cool. I just got my crappy laptop back 2 days ago which cost me $200. Talk about a terrible week, $300 I could have spent on much better things. man this f-in sucks.
ok so i've thought about doing it myself. but how come there aren't people putting this on the web for free?? my cheap a$$ doesnt want to spend any money, especially if i buy a guide and end up breaking my xbox. anyone have any advice? maybe mor's idea, but i'll feel so dirty... how easy is it to do? and is it really that easy to just return it. please PM me if you can't say this stuff aloud . thanks
Mine did about two months ago. I just put it in the closet because I had bought a PS3. Now I miss it and will send it in to get repaired. So, how long do the new ones last that they send you?
