Gotta love Dreamworks' latest one, "Monsters vs. Aliens". "Hey...let's combine 'Monsters, Inc.' and "The Incredibles'. No one will ever know!"
Actually, this is the first Dreamworks' movie that critics are comparing to a Pixar. Besides, I'd put Shrek 1 & 2 & Kung-Fu Panda above Monster's Inc. I hated that movie.
Maybe "Monsters, Inc."...but I'd put "The Incredibles", "Finding Nemo", and "Wall-E" above anything Dreamworks has, is, or ever will make.
Those 3 absolutely and Ratatouille. Point is, not all Dreamworks mo=vies suck though. Some have been really really good.
I'd put shrek above most of the animation films. And I think its very debateable for me to do that, but I think I could make a case. Antz is funny as hell also...... I mean........... man stuff.............
Both have good films. I'd say overall that Pixar puts out good moview more consistently but they also have some big misses (did anyone else HATE Cars?). Loved Nemo, Toy Story and Shrek....never seen Ratatoulie but I hear great things. My all time favorite CG movie is Kung Fu panda though....and it's not even close. That was the best looking all CB movie I've ever seen. The attention to detail was incredible, the dialogue was great, and the jokes were great. Having been to China there was A LOT of inside jokes in that movie that I think a lot of people would have missed...or at least fully appreciate. I was really impressed with that movie.
Very strange, you talk about the attention to detail in Kung Fu Panda, but hate Cars. There was more detail and small things you had to really look to see in Cars than you can imagine. To answer your question, no...didn't hate it. Thought it was great.
If we only can go back to the days when Disney was making epic cel-animated movies (and not crappy sequels of classics). [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhXFCaU92mQ"]YouTube - The Lion King Intro[/ame] Sigh.
The Incredibles is one my favorite MOVIES of all time.. Wall-E was also excellent.. I do agree when it comes to Shrek.. Shrek 2 is piss in your pants funny. Talk about attention to detail, every scene in that movie has something funny in the background.
