no what it boils down to is a stupid premise which you feel is justified, when deep down its perpetuating the same ideals the bully themselves have which is justification of mistreatment of others. Its beyond idiotic.
And boxing? Last I checked the only premise in boxing was whoever wins gets the money. It would be one thing if it was just two guys fighting, but obviously its not if they are building it on this premise correct?

sure its consensual. its still an idiotic premise, not to mention not much justice when the guy getting his *** kicked is still getting paid. The whole idea is a farce.

Not really. They both get paid. Sometimes the winner gets an additional bonus. I know in some boxing matches the purse isn't even, but it's all negotiated before.

A over head Wedgie would be a fine start.

I do think it should be mentioned that there is a difference between "warrior" and "stand up for oneself", do notice they send the "bullies" to the MMA folks to deal with them, but they force they bullied to simply stand up for themselves physically, not yappy yappy doggy over the shoulder, but not even a simple "cross this line you will get what I've got" sort of level.

Besides, UNC won the title, and I'm digging on the peanuts happy dance stuff, y'all piece this one together from now...

True, but it's certainly not all or nothing. And with bigger names, the money is so insane that it really doesn't matter who's making that extra 10%. I know they do make even money sometimes in the UFC too.

But yea, I understand your point of rewarding violence and perpetuating the cycle.

That guy was a total moron, he doesn't count.

They can agree and sign a contract, but that won't stop some guy from claiming that he sustained serious injuries that prevented him from working and trying to bleed MTV for money. People ignore contracts all the time and there have been cases of judges siding with them. :wink2:

I don't buy the show to begin with

BTW, it could be more productive to hear what the targets of bullying have to say perhaps over those who have overcome it?

There are a couple of folks who being abused has really troubled and has done so for a long time...they have something to say...though I do think actions for oneself mean a bit more...however that is strictly my .02.

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

This show needs just one justification: Actions have consequences.

The "bullies" on this show decide that they can take on a MMA fighter and win $10,000. If he then gets his *** kicked, hell yeah, it's justified.

If I decided to fight a MMA fighter and got my *** kicked, I'd think that was a justified ***-beating, too. :shifty:

...and despite everything it still boils down to two guys fighting. Period.

I can accept that. Its just our different life circumstances may have led us to see things differently. I see the show as slightly cathartic because of what experiences I have been through, and respect for that is all I wish others could show.

Bullying is not the same thing always as assault, and calling the cops is wasteful. They usually have better things to do.

I have been one of those who was targeted mercilessly for 12 years in school, and I still harbor a lot of resentment and anger about it. For whatever reason I have never been able to let it go, and this show, though idiotic, that I will conceed, it does have a small modicrum of catharsis for myself.

Bullying can sometimes be more of harassment than physical assault. In schools or work, I would tend to think it's more harassment or verbal abuse.

Sometimes one leads to the other, sometimes not.

Then of course, you'll just get some guys with beer muscles at a bar or on the street that's just looking to ****. Happens all the time.

In my area, calling the cops because someone is bullying you (you haven't been beaten, at least not badly) is a very rare thing. They really do have better things to do, and the majority of them would probably just roll their eyes as they filed your report.

There was always one kid that was carried over from the other school. I went to neighborhood schools, and so I went to school with many of the same kids for most of the 12 years.

I hated school, and couldn't wait for it to end. I was tall and skinny, and wore glasses, was not a jock, and didn't have a lot of friends, and stayed to myself, because I was afraid to put myself out there, for fear that if someone got close enough to me, they would find out that I was gay.

Careful brother, carrying such a burden inside you will eat you away. Hate is a strong and nasty emotion that can leave you a shell of your self. I know it was happening to me. I was lucky enough to meet someone who was able to save me from my self. I feel your pain, different, yet the same. I would not like to see anyone consumed by hate, you are a good person, and I can see that.

I can not tell you what to do, you are your own man and I have to make the choice that is best for you. I just wanted to say, what a beautiful woman, now my wife, told me; don’t let it continue to control you, you must control it. So brother, I ask that you not let then control you anymore, never forget it, just do you best to stop them from affecting you life now.

im not saying i would call the cops, i dont believe in that. and obviously you shouldnt call the cops if it wasnt physical abuse. alls i was saying was if your not that physical type person and your physically assulted, why would you not just call the police.

i think a better premise would be to teach the victims some MMA skills, challenge the bully, and let them defend themselves in the confines of a controlled environment with a ref and rules.

that way they are learning to take up for themself, getting a little of their self respect back, and not continuing to be dependent on others to take up for them.

once they show they will stand up for themself, the bully will probably never bother them again.

that said, now that i know about it, i will probably still check this show out.

Learning to let go is my greatest character flaw and it shows in threads like this. Army if I said anything earlier that you took the wrong way, it was just my usually dumbassness coming out. I do that everyonce in a while just to keep in shape for the Big Dumbass Jerk competition every year :wink2:

    I agree to an extent.

I dont see what the big deal about calling the police is.

Maybe its because so much of my family being in law enforcement but if someone is threatening you with physical harm unjustly then by all means call the police.

Don't think your pulling anyone away from anything other than maybe their coffee.

The police has things organized to where guys that are patrolling are patrolling while the guys that have nothing better to do but be at Dunkin' Donuts are the ones that are called in to report to the domestic violence/disturbance.

Awesome premise to a show. Too bad MTV came up with it because of course they had to ruin it. First of all that host just acts like such a tool. I dont know why that skinny punk acts like hes all that, id love to see him in the ring.

It would be impossible to get those little nerds enough training in a realistic timetable, but there has to be some MMA fighters out there (not even nessecarily pro) who were once picked on. Not all MMA guys were always big. Why cant they just go get those guys and make the show out of them?
