Greg Camarillo recovering from knee injury http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphi...407camarillo.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=46 Possible answers to gaping, glowing CB void http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...re-a-starting-cornerback-should-be-getti.html Miami Dolphins: No player interviews until minicamp http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...hins-no-player-interviews-until-minicamp.html
No suprise about Greg C, he's a JT Smith type. 'Nando with the mancrush on Vontae Davis...to me I'd pass on him..not our type of guy. "Message Discipline" how tiresome, it's better then what happened in Dallas, but still, a embargo on even the Veterans and Cam Wake seems a bit too "Father with teenage daughterish".
Greg tore his ACL in the season later than Ronnie did, did he not? I would be very surprised if he was 100% by training camp. And I really do not expect him to be the same early in the season as he was last year, though I hope he is.
ACLs are much more serious than MCLs. Lemme guess, Camarillo's rehab is "ahead of schedule"! They all say that!
Help me understand this Why is it that we make an exception for someone like Camarillo who is 27 years old and coming off a season ending knee injury, but any time we talk about picking up a free agent we don't want them b/c they're 27-30 years old and have had injuries in the past. All of us are glad to have camarillo on our team! But if he had never been on our team and we heard he was 27 coming off a knee injury no body would want us to sign him. I can hear it now, "he's too old, we can get someone younger" "he just had a knee injury" "i would rather draft a wr" "yadda yadda yadda" by the way, here's the progress report on Camarillo http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphin...camarillo.html
Pure and simple homerism. He can make some plays but is never going to be the guy the other teams have to game plan for. He'll always be thought of fondly for his role in staving off a winless season. And he has that great rags to riches story. A healthy Cam is a good but not great WR. He's a functional #2 but would make an ideal #4.
people don't want to get boldin b/c he's in his late 20's. whats the difference between 27 and 28 or 29. (i forget how old boldin is; i know he's in his 20's) How about JT. there's a big number of fans that want to get JT back, he's gonna be 35 this season! My whole point is this, i don't care how old a player is, as long as the player can play!
And the award for most obvious headline goes to... Can you imagine the headline, "Camarillo stagnant from knee injury. He is not recovering or regressing." But seriously though, it's a good article. Glad we'll have Greg back this season.
He's a fine Wr Rafael, more then a adequate #2, if healthy he could push into the #1 role by always presenting himself as a target and catching everything thrown his way. And to be honest, he works dirt cheap, we have to cut costs somewhere to afford that Rolls Royce Oline we have.
Because Camarillo is our guy. We've seen him play, we know he can play well in our system. We know what we have in him. He's already here. With a free agent you're never sure what you're going to get. When a player switches teams he doesn't always bring the same level of production with him. Sometime the chemistry isn't right or the scheme doesn't feel right to them. Camarillo is here, we know he can produce and we all can't wait for him to come back. Homerism isn't always bad.
JI remarks in a nutshell Joey Thomas = ! Will Allen = ! Nate Jones = ! Jason Allen = watch your ***, Allen. Someone is going to come in and push it and if you don't hustle it up a bit...
Cam's target to reception % was about equal with Ginn's. At the time of his injury, it was two % points higher, which is statistically insignificant. Yet people act as if Cam catches everything and Ginn drops far too many. That's the result of homerism. Cam gets a pass but we have to debate whether or not Ginn is a bust. I agree that cost cuts are necessary. The logical places are at CB, ILB, RB, FB K and P. That's b/c you can get roughly equivalent production out of late round picks at these positions. The rule changes have made WR an impact position as evidenced by 3 of the last 6 SB MVPs being WRs. A true stud WR is unstoppable b/c the CBs can't touch them anymore. And while you can find late round studs at WR most of the elite ones are found in rounds 1 and 2. This isn't the best place to make cuts.
900 yds in a season is hardly spectacular. Throw in the fact that he doesn't score a ton of TDs and you get a functional but not great #2.
