    im so pissed.

    this quote intrigues me.

i wonder if that means you have to click it to disappear on every play, or if you can simply make it go away for the whole game.

as long as I get to see Ted Ginn's towel flapping around while turning on the burner on that 64-yarder against Buffalo, I'm good.

yeah, who cares if theirs a glitch in the game that allows the QB to walk to the endzone before the play starts. As long as he has a realistic towel, everythings cool.

all of these stupid changes their making to the 'customization of the game are ******ed. none of these custom settings apply to online games.

if they want to add custom settings that actually make a difference, perhaps these would be a good start....

custom depth charts for online play that can be saved
custom audible packages that can be saved for each playbook

i hate having to switch my audibles everytime i change between playbooks. and i hate having to make depth chart changes EVERYTIME!!!

franchise mode used to be sweet. whats the furthest youve gotten without simming any games? year 16 for me, in madden 03 when the franchise mode was still good.

Could not of said it better myself.

I haven't bought a Madden since '07 and I promptly traded that 'thing' in.

Until they bring back a good Owner mode like they had it ummm lets see, 5 years ago, forget it, I just play NCAA or play some other sport (basketball or hockey).

Bro, I feel for the online players, I really do.

But they seriously need to just work on the single player aspect (or 2 player on the same console old school style) of the game and get it right (Franchise mode) and then port it all over to the Online modes later on.

Because so far they've been trying to do both things at once and all that it has resulted in is a game that is still missing crap from 5 years ago.

they wasted their time making superstar mode. that is garbage. its hardly even playable.

i agree that franchise mode and single-player mode in general needs to be improved. but that needs to be done on the field. not in the settings menu.

the reason i dont play CPU game anymore is because the CPU is ******ed. After playing against the top players online, the CPU is like playing against an infant, even on ALL MADDEN. they need to make the players smarter, and disguise the coverages better. Until they break down and decide that they need to hire FOOTBALL experts to help create the game instead of game designers, it will continue to suck when playing against the CPU. The is nothing realistic about the way the CPU calls plays, calls timeouts, or plays quarterback.

    Sounds ****ing awesome...

There's only 1 thing I disagree with... Certain positions like WR are going to be funky with their progression system. If you're playing as a running team, or have multiple great WR, the WR aren't going to catch 80+ balls. They're not going to have the opportunity to get catches like NE WR will. That will **** up stat progression. Things like YPC and YAC should get weighted a bit more, IMO. We'll see how it goes down though.

    Very, very true bro.

But thats why I say they need to really focus on that aspect and FIX IT.

Because so long as they get lazy and say "...you know what? If they want a challenge then let them go online."

They wont really work on the AI because whats the point?

They need to take the game one year and say, "lets make the best Madden we can possibly make for people that are not online gamers".

Then the next season they need to say "OK, lets grab everything now and make it work online now that the single player game is up to speed and really, really good."

That and I also agree that gimmicky crap like Superstar mode and that goofy TRON looking thing last year is a waste of time...why dont they try and make a better presentation of the game or even a Superbowl Victory that makes you feel like you actually accomplished something rather than "ho hum it was just another win"

Truer words have never been spoken. As for the problems you mention I think it goes back to EA not having football fans on the staff. I mean really how fun would it be to actually receive the Lombardi trophy, then get to return home and greet your fans, and then have a parade. They wouldn't even have to make those moments interactive but just video clips and it would be better than their cheap graphic telling you that you just won the Super Bowl. Also I am sure there are many more things they could add I left out.

Another thing I've always wanted to see was an implementation of the skills challenge before the Pro Bowl. So say your franchise QB gets to the Pro Bowl then you should be able to compete in the skills challenge and it would be a clever way to boost your guy's stats (in the same way a mini-camp or weekly practice would). It would just be something fun to tool around with.

The first thing they need to do though is make the gameplay fun again.

Awe man that would be awesome.

    Speaking of stats...

I have not purchased the game in so many years I dont even know if the new way of training is good or not.

I liked the way they had it set up back in the day where you could do a MINI-Camp before Pre-Season and boost certain players that way.

Now they have it every week of the season?

I dont know how that works and if its better or not.

You know what got me thinking "CRAP" about this years game even though that Blog post gave a lot of hope...

When the dude said "Dont expect everything in Head Coach '09 to be in Madden 10".

Its like...OK...so dont expect everything that was in one of LAST YEARS supposedly outdated games to be in the supposedly NEW-er and supposedly Better game this year.

I might go ahead and skip this year then too.

Its like they can't even have a crappy half time show ala the fuggly looking cheerleaders in TECMO BOWL (not Super Tecmo Bowl, just plain old Tecmo Bowl from over 20 years ago)...Why? Because they are too busy adding goofy features no one cares about like 'Rewind'

How the hell did they come up with that anyway? Did they sit down and go over a list of problems the game has or things that would actually make the game more fun and yet decided it was all too hard so lets make a gimmicky thing where you can CHEAT your *** off by 'rewinding' a bad play WTH?

2 things I would like to see in Madden

    1. The Wildcat and more customized defensive playbooks

    2. Refs on the sidelines at least but it would be nice to see them on the field (I think)

Nothing to be confused about here bro. They may seem like completely different games, but they really are not.

Well, unless you consider one game being called 'Head Coach' and another 'Madden' to be enough to call them completely different.

Come on bro, unless your just being a smartass, I know you can see through the bologna.

Fact of the matter is that they won't put everything in because it's not fiscally responsible for them to do so.

You'd think they would want to put out a complete game and sell as many as possible. But in a yearly series like Madden, there's no incentive in that. The only business sense would be to slowly put out features to milk the cash cow as much as possible. The two games are the same with one you being able to actually control the players while in the other you cannot.

Headcoach was/is a decision to milk the cow even more so by getting franchise people to not just buy one game but rather 2, and thus spending twice the cash. Odds are, so long as the series is exclusively licensed to EA, we will never see everything in HC in Madden Franchise. Because at that point, why would we ever buy HC? Unless you just want to appease the part of the fanbase that never wants to take the field. Even then the HC division would problably end up losing $$$ (if Madden Franchise has it all).

It will be no surprise the day that the NFL license is no longer exclusive that we see another co. come out with a deep franchise mode and suddenly EA drops HC altogether and really begins to put it all back in franchise like in '03,'04,'05,'06.

Technically that is not real football.

Defenses are supposed to make adjustments based on what the offense is doing.

then ill make the adjustments. i dont want anything changed automatically. trust me, if it becomes automatic, there will be detailed ebooks on how to exploit it. I can see it now....."ebook: learn how to force all linebackers to blitz, and theres nothing your opponent can do to stop it."

Wow, looks like a nice blitz but if your playing online it would be hard to set it up against opponents who "hurry" out of the huddle and snap the ball.

..remember when you could press R2 multiple times and the screen would shake pre-snap? I hated that shnit!

I had a Nano in madden 03 that took won me the North Columbus league title.

Maybe someone will remember but it was out of Quarter's and I subbed my fastest guy at #4 DB and moved him in between the DT and RDE and manulally moved the RDT tothe right on the snap to occupy the RG, it was to this day the best blitz I have ever seen...like 60 % of the time the QB didnt even have time to habd the ball off.

actually this stunt can be set up everytime with no problem. each adjustment takes less than half a second. i can have it all done before the QB is set, easy.

another one, which is much easier. 46-Bear-Outside Blitz. Flip the play, then shift the line down (LB, LS DOWN). This is one of the best nanos in the game, and since Im the one that found it, not many people know about it. Works even better if you re-blitz the four dlinemen on the left, then pull Jared Allen out to the left and manually blitz. The only way to slow it down is to motion a TE or RB to the left and make them block. Even then, u got less than 3 seconds.
