Might just be wishful thinking fellow Dolfans. Armando is reporting we're not seriously pursuing Boldin even with the reduced asking price.

If we take Percy Harvin w/ our first when we could have Boldin for a 2nd I'll cry lol.

a 2nd is fine with me, I'd do it. That's what I thought Parcells would offer, if that's the case

This is something that has been discussed at length in another thread: http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=30542&page=4

But, it sounds like the report has changed somewhat (again) in that Arizona is now "reportedly" only asking for a second pick in return. Gee whiz...if true, I just can't believe we wouldn't be all over that.

Hey, if Arizona keeps dropping their asking price, Boldin aught to go for a 6th or 7th rounder by about 3:59PM tomorrow afternoon. ;)

But if you can add a player like Boldin for our 56th, and Williams let's say. Then in the draft you could primarily address the defense and add depth to the Oline, and a RB. A TE if we feel that is a need with the future contracts coming up.

I am just really concerned on how long it will take a WR if we draft one to be a serious contributor to this offense, when Boldin is available, and can help Chad and company right away.

A second and DMart, keep Fasano. Or just the second.

If we can get Boldin for EITHER of our 2s, we should bite hard and fast. If they are asking for 2 picks Id be very hesitant, we still need players, but for just one pick in round 2? Done and done. Take a CB in the first, Boldin, and wrap up round 2 with some kind of passrusher.

I will be irritated if he ends up in a Jets or Ravens jersey without them getting fleeced.

yeah but the cardinals want a good player. they need a RB, TE, or LB. We don't have any LB's to offer, so the way i see it, we have to give up a 2nd and Fasano or Ronnie Brown. i don't think any other player will do the trick. I'd rather keep Ronnie brown.

    Matt Roth is all theirs

On the Ronnie Brown deal, I DON'T think nor want this to happen but if it would, I think that's all we would need to give the Cards for Boldin... Ronnie straight up.

according to Sal Pal, we haven't even contacted AZ about a deal. Right now it is between the Titans, Jets, Ravens, Eagles, and Giants. We have 2 2nd round picks and this would be much better than an unproven wr. use one of them to get him, but it can't happen if we don't call.

We all know that Boldin is going to want a large contract, but what elite football player doesn't??..

I want Boldin in Miami. I think he'd make a huge impact, and would change the face / strength of our offense immediately. Henne's going to be ready soon too, and I'd love to see what he and Boldin could bring to the table...

    We'll see what happens....:shifty:

Drew on Sports Center said that he believes Boldin will be on another team's roster by the end of the first round.

Man will this board be flooded with tears if he goes to the Jets. Moss, Owens, & Boldin, in the East.

I say keep the picks, draft some D, and tell then rest of the east to suck it, we're not scared.

Here is the real situation. If this organization felt we were legit contenders Boldin would be on this team now.

Now some of you will say that's not true fine but I honestly believe they do not see this team as real winners in their hearts just yet. They need more young players to develop and they feel it might be a waste of money and draft picks to sign him.

Personally I would do it in a heart beat. This draft is full of running backs, so giving away ricky, cobbs or ronnie even isn't off the table. Boldin is a TOP premier wideout and drafting one in no way shpe or form guarantee's a quality NFL wideout. Especially with a 2nd round pick.

I really feel the FO sees another 2 years before we are in position to spend on talent for a superbowl run..

    Hmm...

Hiring Bill Parcells. Hiring Jeff Ireland. Hiring Tony Sparano. Signing Chad Pennington. Trading for Anthony Fasano and Akin Ayoldele. Drafting Jake Long. Drafting Phillip Merling. Drafting Kendall Langford. Singing Davone Bess.

That was all in the first year too. I think that's pretty damn good.

I think it's more than that. I think it's the big money that Boldin is demanding in the way of a new contract ($10 mil/year IIRC). And, I don't think this franchise wants to plunk down that kind of cash. I could be wrong about this, but that's what I think is the sticking point (for us).
