    I also have a South American wife so I know well what you are talking about.

    Her sister is having her birthday party this Saturday:cry:.

    Last year I made sure to tell my wife not to schedule anything for me on that day but this year I forgot.

    Now, I'm screwed.

    :sad:

    And those Latin parties don't really allow for one to sneak off to a quiet spot and find a TV. Condolences.

    That list used to include kleenex and valium, now there's no need for the kleenex.

    Really depends on your tastes. Obviously a KC style BBQ sauce is where it's at, but there are a lot of variations of that base to try. Mine is really mild and doesn't have the overdone spiciness that a lot of others do, here's the recipe:

    Red BBQ Sauce

    Use On: Ribs and Beef

    Ingredients:
    * 3 cups ketchup
    * 1 cup honey
    * 1/2 cup brown sugar
    * 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
    * 1/2 cup water
    * 1 medium onion, diced
    * 1 green pepper, diced
    * 2 tablespoons tabasco chipotle
    * 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
    * 2 teaspoons garlic powder

    Prep:
    Mix all ingredients together. Place in saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until onion and pepper are tender.

    I always hit a wall about 30 minutes before we pick and am half awake at our selection. I know, it's pathetic.:no:

    I'm thinking about just getting some good food instead of trying to make some. It's a lot less stressful that way, although it's hard to beat a good steak/wings/snacks whatever i make. I was thinking about getting a platter or BBQ from the local joint.

    I have been doing this for years. What I do is turn it around and make it a big day for my wife and daughter. The deal is that I get to stay on the couch for 2 days straight and do nothing but watch the draft. I give them cash and they turn it into a shopping day. They are happy and I am happy. Just remember, all girls love to shop. when you give them the opportunity, you get whatever you want in return.

    My problem, other than being an old fart, is that I'll be so excited tonight about the draft I won't get much sleep. Then I pathetically struggle to not nap all day draft day.

    Maybe I can get my wifey to thoroughly wear me out tonight ... but then again she may not have the 5 minutes it takes to do the job!!!

    Quit.

    Or insist on jobs that are conducive to football season. I haven't worked an autumn weekend since, well....ever. You make a decision early in life and it becomes a way of life. :)

    My friends all know the drill. I don't care who's getting married, whatever. It ain't happening. I'm that big an ******* when it comes to football. :lol:

    Dude, just call in sick. Say you have explosive diarrhea or better yet, slash your tires. Yeah it'll suck on Monday, but you'll be watching the draft and doing your thing here all weekend. Since I assume you have a night job, odds are no tire place is going to be open late Saturday afternoon. And you're too broke to get a cab. ;)

    Sadly, despite some nice suggestions in his thread, I cannot watch this years draft.

    I figure to hopefully catch some good write-ups on here though about it.

    Everyone feels sorry for diarrhea. It's stinky, painful and messy. Sure to get sympthy. They may even send over a dinner basket.

    I've had bosses actually ask me if they didn't give me the day off if I would have called in sick, of course I said "hell yes I would have":wink2:

    There's a chance of it snowing today, so no golf. :shifty:

    I'm sitting here waiting for all the info from you guys.
    My husband knows how I love my football, he USED to be a football fan. He doesn't say anything about my obsession with my Dolphins. (I would have to get a divorce)

    BUT, we can't afford the dang sports channels.:cry:
    I say we start a protest for po' folks to be able to get them free on Direct anytime there's any thing on about football. Especially the Dolphins!!
    Who's with me fellow fanatics? :up:

    For all those who have to miss some of it:

    Go to ESPN.com and sign up for the "free alerts" on your cell. They'll text you anything that happens.

    Of course the magical quitting hour for me is going to be right around 6:45.

    That was a great read, I guess I am also one of the lucky ones. My wife loves football as much as me, and even teaches our two children(5years old and 3 years old) that the Dallas Cowboys kill animals, they hate unicorns and rainbows....I am not kidding, my wife is a football freak, and HATES the cowboys!!! shes one in a million. Enjoyed the read guys.
