Why cant the guy share time with bess. They share time then the defense never knows when the wildcat is coming. Teams see him come in and set themselves up. When we made this pick I thought 2 things. Brown not running the wildcat making him very expendable now, and the wildcat will take up atleast 25% of our offense. Imagine Brown or Rick being able to split out..... Honestly I think a person like Vick running the wildcat would own. Brown was great but lacked the quick hit speed someone like white has. I dont like the pick but after carolina jumped up for everett I kind of went blank. I think I am on the fence and with this front office I have to lean their way.
Pat White at #44? Anybody still want to say "In Tuna I Trust"? I think this pick proves that the FO isn't infallible, they can make horrible picks. White is a luxury player, a guy who will be a wildcat player and who really doesn't have a position. He isn't going to be a QB and he's not an experienced WR. Horrible pick with Sintim and other passrushers on the board.
It's not that I don't like Pat White, just we didn't have to use a #44 on him, I think that is way to early for him.
yea i can see white taking pennington's place in the wc formations..i cringed every time penny lined up at wr thinking it was his last play ever. still couldv'e gotten him a little later.
whats that smell??? oh that's pee in my cherio's nevermind. the front office mustve forgot we already picked pat white and decided to get a fith to pick him there?
I agree that it is a bit too early, but what is done is done. We have a versatile athlete that was fun to watch in WVU. He is an amazing athlete.
I don't buy that argument. This is a legitimate gripe here. White is a luxury type pick. One that dosen't have a true position in the NFL. We just gambled a high pick on a very high bust potential player and one that even if he does work out he has limited use. Don't get it and hate it! Say I'm crying all you want but it's not, it's a legitimate concern.
This is a shocking pick I don't know squat about this kid, but was blown away when I saw we picked him. Just have to believe that they have something up their sleeve. We could save the roster spot by trading Beck away, but use this kid not only as a #3 QB this season, but in other ways. If he is being compared to "slash", then the wild cat comes to mind right away. But does he have hands to catch as well? Maybe a guy we can line up wide, faking wildcat and send him out on a route. He must have some speed. BTW, this is the first meaningful NFL action since I have been hanging on this board...does anyone express themselves in more then one line posts? I mean is there meaningful expression of thoughts that lead to further conversation and debate? Or since we are limited to one thread for an entire topic, meaningful dialogue and discussion doesn't develop?
How is it different from Ronnie being the QB? It's less predictable than that. I'm sure he'll get some looks at receiver in standard packages.
L2G speaks the truth. On another note... why are people attacked when they criticize a pick they don't like? This cult like worship of Parcells and company is bizarre and creepy (Same for the Saban years). Yes he's very good at what he does. No, he's not always going to pick correctly. Yes, it is ok to criticize a pick you don't like...
Yeah,..... I noticed Sintim picked right after that pick. Made my stomach turn considering the need at the LB position. I don't get it at all, not even a little bit but it is what it is.
Anyone change there mind on Boldin yet? What if you could have traded the Pat White pick straight across for Boldin?
Love the 2 CBs. Filling a clear need. I can't express how much I'd LOVE this draft had Sintim....... or anyone else actually been sandwiched between those 2 picks.
You all should've been in the NFL draft forum. We had the draft day thread rockin'! http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=31076
that's why the draft has a 3rd round, a 4th round, a 5th round, a 6th round, and.....wait for it.....wait for it.........a 7th round
DAY ONE : Loved the Davis pick at #25, not impressed with White at 44, and happy to have Smith at 61... The pick that I'm sure everyone is talking about is White at #44. Personally, I think we would have been better off using it on a position of deeper concern... I'm sure White will help improve our wildcat formation, but what happens to Henne throughout all of this?? Are we going to be taking away valuable starting time / rep's from Henne in order to utilize, and get the most out of White?? I just don't like the thought of that. I thought we were going to be more dedicated to lining up and playing smash mouth football on offense this year. The wildcat is the opposite in my opinion.... M~J
