Can't say we didn't see this coming and him as well. Hope nothing but the best for him. He is a good kid and deserves a shot somewhere. John Beck - QB Apr. 27 - 7:28 pm et Dolphins waived QB John Beck. Beck, on the trade block since Bill Parcells took over as Fins VP of football operations, was the 40th overall pick in 2007. A Randy Mueller/Cam Cameron era holdover, Beck appeared in five games as a rookie. He literally looked scared in the pocket and produced two touchdowns to eight turnovers, including five lost fumbles. Some team will probably claim Beck off waivers, but he was already old coming out of BYU and his NFL future is bleak at best.
he played QB in the middle of the worse season in dolphins history....we had traded our best WR earlier (chambers) and he lost ronnie brown due to acl tear.....he was handing off to samkon gado for christ sakes..... the dude had a terrible oline, and was never given a fair shot here.....i wish him well.
Too bad he never had a legitimate shot here. Someone may scoop him up and develop him into a decent QB.
http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2009/apr/27/nfl-dolphins-release-former-second-round-pick-john/ What a waste of a 2nd rounder
He will get his chance with another team. Good luck to him wherever he goes. I expect Jason Allen maybe next.
once again him and satele gone the same season.......2 2nd rounders......turned into a 6th rd pick -puke-
Just trust...when I post something it is the gospel!!! No link needed, especially when I posted to you the bulletin time stamped.
Hell after losing seconds on Feeley and Culpepper what else would you expect. Nothing new to this franchise, at least this FO has its **** together.
Here is your confirmation... "The Miami Dolphins today released quarterback John Beck, the team announced. Beck was a second-round selection by the Dolphins in the 2007 draft. “We want to thank John for his work ethic and his professionalism,” general manager Jeff Ireland said. “We wish him well in the future.”"
Miami has now drafted a QB in the second round in each of the past three drafts. Interesting, if nothing else. I wish Beck well. I never liked the Ginn/Beck combo. Always preferred the Quinn/Steve Smith version of that draft. Moot point as of now. Hopefully he goes somewhere like Minnesota, Denver or anywhere else where he has an outside chance of catching on and competing.
hey guys this just in dan marino has given birth to an alien super qb that throws like him but also blocks for himself.
i never really saw much in Beck from the start. Sure, he had a strong arm, could throw it deep. I know a lot of 16 year olds who can too. But can he read defenses? Can he elude pressure? Can he be a leader in the huddle? These are obvious questions CamMueller failed to consider. IF they did, they wouldve known to pass on Beck, who never even faced a stout defense in college. If anything, it seemed that one thing that Cam was intrigued with was, well, character. Yeah, Im sure hes a nice guy. That doesnt make a good football player. The Mormon connection cannot be ignored either. Most of Cam's players led LDS-inspired lives. Not that theres anything wrong with that, Steve Young turned out to be a pretty damn good QB. But that was because he actually had the skills and tools to be a pro. He was more than a nice guy. Beck didnt have any of those qualities needed to lead a pro team. How could he possibly manage egos on the offensive side of the ball, especially if we brought in a big-headed WR down the line, or a hardheaded T? Marino could do so. Manning can do so. All the good Qbs have leadership skills. Beck looked like a deer-in-headlights the whole time. There was no possible way for Beck to be successful with the Miami Dolphins. And now, I wish him the best, but Ill gladly move on from a waste of a pick.
Not a bad thought really. I was thinking Seattle may take a flyer too since Matt is getting almost as old as his hairline looks, and Wallace doesn't seem to be anything special.
when some team picks him up, we'll know what team we could have dealt him to for a 7th round pick! LOL
I did...I posted the original blurb with a time stamp. Good enough for me..and that is all that matters. LOL
yes...but where is the fun of that. Like I said, when I post something it is golden. Take it to the bank. I am not into rumors and posting bad info. I have been at this message board game for way to many years to be into those games. I hate linking, and often won't. Nothing irks me more than making me go somewhere else to get the info when you could have just given it to me here. So that is what I do. So, in closing....trust me and in what I post. I will never steer you wrong. This post has been paid for by the Canephins Posting for Truth and the American Way 2009 Campaign.
Best of Luck to John Beck. Shame it didnt work out here... if he keeps his head up and keeps working hard, that positive attitude of his will pay off somewhere. Really wish it would have worked out for him here, hopefully he gets his shot somewhere.
if i make something up on another site and post a link to it, does it make it true? LOL I'm with ya bud!
At least they did it early enough where he will have more than a decent shot at getting on with another team.
Not surprised, but bummed He was the first glimmer of hope for a QB after suffering through all the garbage that Wanny, et al, brought to us. I liked this kid, man of high caliber. I wish him well in either getting another opportunity in the NFL or whatever he chooses to do with his life!
Sometimes the first thing that has to happen is to tear down or throw out the trash before major strides forward can be made. Not saying that Samson or John are trash, no way, not in the slightest. Just not what our team needs. I liked them both, if nothing more they were the first signs of at least the franchise starting to bring in better players. Wish them both well!
That's exactly right, nothing wrong with either one of them but we can't hold onto them just because they were 2nd round picks if it means holding the team back. Bottom line is they are not in the vision of the future for the Dolphins and until the big three just blow it I'm going to trust their judgment.
John Beck got drafted by a horrible coach on a horrible team. However when a good coach and front office and took a look at him they didn't like what they saw. They tried shopping him around and 31 other teams were completely uninterested in him. He seems like a classy guy but he just doesn't seem to be starting QB material and a lot of highly paid professionals seem to think so. I wish him well but I don't think he's going to have a stellar NFL career now.
