It's everywhere I go... I turn on the local news this morning and they spend the first 20 minutes discussing the Swine Flu. I go on the internet, and my home page is full of Swine Flu scare tactics. 36,000 Americans die every year from the Flu. Isn't there anything else going on in the world? Can we get back to talking about the pirates outsde of Samalia?

    Talk about it.

Daughters schools were closed today for Swine Flu cleaning. Don't know what that means. It's okay - we got an opportunity to shop for Ava.

Sure would have liked to see Tony hoist the Lombardi before the earth blows up on 12-21-2012, thought we had a chance. Instead, some brat kid licks a pigs snotty nose and now we are all gunna die.

    You got that right Marty.
You never stop worrying about them.
I keep the grandgirls alot and Sami got a pit bull (great dog) that I keep when she travels for AFLAC. So, they may grow and move, but as Bill Cosby says, "They always come back and bring more with them".

So just settle in for the ride Mary.:pointlol:

Anything can kill anyone at any given time. Gotta live every day to its fullest or so they say. I can see clearly now the rain is gone... wait that phrase doesn't belong... I can understand the coverage to a degree, but I really get the feeling the media is going overboard and scaring the crap out of people needlessly. Wash your hands, avoid people that are sick, don't touch your eyes, keep your twig and berries in your pants... the usual stuff...

this happens when you have several 24 hours/7 days a week news shows. it wouldn't be like this if the news was like it use to be; 30 minutes of national news and 30 minutes of local news.

I don't mind the coverage. I'm in a risky position in my profession to catch airborne viruses. The coverage will make the average person take precautions, which will prevent further infections. People ( as well as others have already) are going to die from this in our country, and the more deaths prevented, the better. It's responsible reporting, not knee jerk, unfounded yellow journalism. The virus is real, traveling, and the more people aware and in active prevention, the better to combat it.
This is area of the 4th estate of responsibility. Yes, some original ethics still exist. Sorry you're bothered that Michelle's Obama's shoe choice, the First Family dog, Carl Rove, Megan McCain or Dick Cheney weren't highlighted today. ;)

well in all fairness from what I've seen they do seem to not be able to differentiate between confirmed and unconfirmed cases.
I think we have to take care to not overstate the situation as it can lead to future warnings not being taken as seriously.

being cautious is fine and good, but some of the talking heads make it seem like we are all gonna die unless we lock ourselves in our houses and board up the windows.

When I hear the following as a lead in to the 11 o'clock news, it's pretty clear it's NOT responsible journalism:

"Killer Flu spreading across multiple STATES, what you need to know, next"....
