Ok, so the draft is over so now that we have most of the pieces of our 2009 Dolphins in place it's time to start thinking about Dolphins Survivor: 2009. For those of you who weren't here or don't remember, Dolphins Survivor is where you vote for your favorite Dolphin in elimination style voting. Everyone does this until only one Dolphin remains. I won't get too deep into the rules until we decide when we want to start. If you want to see how Dolphin Survivor: 2008 went down click the link in my sig.

Anyway last year we started after OTAs were finished. And we included mostly just starters and a few other favorites. A few people mentioned that for the next installment we should start right after the draft and include the entire roster.

I wanted to get a larger sample of feedback before kicking this thing off, because as those of you who participated last year remember, it will take awhile to crown a champ. I'm still trying to decide if it would be better to wait until the action dies down to start, or if starting early would be a good idea since more players = takes even longer.

Vote and let me know what you think and I'll start the game based on the winning option.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the feedback so far. If the "now" option is still winning tomorrow after a big enough sample has had time to vote I'll fire it up tomorrow evening or early Thursday. Also accepting volunteers to help me keep the count accurate as the game goes on.

so its a game where you pick someone that you think is gonna make the team? do we only pick people from the draft? this sounds to easy. i would pick vontae davis and win. can 2 people pick the same player? how do you decide who picks first?

Nope. It's a game where you vote for who you think should be the Dolphin survivor. You can choose any reason you want to "vote for a player". It might be your favorite, most skilled, somebody you know, etc. Each player starts off with the same amount of points (5). When voting for a player you subtract from somebody else. Then the next person votes and so on until only one Dolphin is left standing. It sounds complicated but it's really very easy. More details on how it's played once we start. But if you can't wait, click on the link in my signature if you want to see how it is played.

What ends up happening is people defend and debate their votes and it ends up being a lot of fun and a great way to kill time until training camp.

NO! But I expect both to do well. It will be interesting to see if Ted Ginn has the same fan support this time around. Only time will tell if the Ginn mafia will make another appearance.

I think it will be really interesting to see how P. White is going to do in this competition. The Fins-fanbase seems to be torn about this guys as they are with Ginn.

I can certainly see myself throwing a few votes Pat's way but I don't think he'll fare very well. Last year Chad Henne made a very early exit. Of course, John Beck had a nice long run...

there are enough people here that hate pat white already that while others are trying to get the first couple votes to their fav's, he'll be out- i would suspect he'd be one of the first few to get voted off. in the opening rounds if there are even a few people who don't like someone, there is usually not enough concentrated support to protect him before he's ousted

Looks like the majority wants to hold off on this a bit. Fair enough. I suppose it's better to save it for when things really start getting slow in June. Maybe end of May would be good timing. Anybody know what the OTA schedule is going to look like?

Looks like "Now" took the lead overnight. I'd start it now, but I'm going to be without computer access once I leave work for the weekend and this thing generally needs some close tracking to keep it going smooth during the first couple days. I'm thinking I'll start this on Sunday unless someone else would be able to keep an eye on it...
