A thing of beauty will be when Kobe holds up the Larry O'Brien trophy and his middle finger to all the haters.

so Rafer Alston gets tossed for his little head slap.

Derek Fisher gets tossed for his actions.

Ron Artest gets tossed for.........um........getting in Kobe's face and speaking after Kobe clearly elbows him in the throat?

Alston and Fisher get suspensions, and Kobe gets nothing.

Should put the Cavs / Hawks series on NBA TV.

I'd rather watch Outside The Lines.

You are either kidding or a Kobe hater. The refs prevented and already out of control game from going to the next level. In any other situation Artest would of got a T but not at that point in the game. Kobe shouldnt have gotten suspended for fighting for position. A foul yes but not a suspension. That just stupid. They both were banging down low all game. This happen all the time and even more so in the playoffs.

    :up::up: Derek Swisher!

Completely out of character, yet so sweet. That bench played with intensity they haven't showed all year. Let's hope we see that tomorrow

I don't mean to hate on Kobe because he's a top 3 player to me right now and I have him as top 5 all time, but honestly, there are 4 or 5 other perimeter players who would have that team just as good or better in his place. Quite possibly one of the most talented basketball teams this league has ever seen. Of course he's the centerpiece of that basketball team, but I really hope people don't go "Kobe this" and "Kobe that" if/when the Lakers are crowned in June. He can take nights off against the top tier teams in the league and his team would still be the favorites to win. God that is a special group of players led by one of the greatest coaches in the history of sports. This core has the chance to make that Kobe / Shaq team of the past look like a joke when it's all said and done.
Just wanted to take the time out to shed some light on Kobe's "supporting cast" because I don't think they're credited enough. You've got one or two (Odom is debatable) other All Star caliber players, and maybe four or five others that could start on playoff teams in this league. This is a superstar driven league where most superstars dominate the ball on pretty bad teams overall, so it's expected for actual GOOD TEAMS to be overlooked, but not that team.

I don't know about that. His team may come out against top teams but it won't be as often. And you can tell a lot of games, the team struggles with shooting and ending up Kobe rescues them with a scoring tear. Granted this team is immensely better with Fisher/Pau than Smush Parker (you guys remember him? :shifty:) and Kwame Brown but it still needs a bailout that only Kobe really provides.

I think Kobe Bryant is the clear cut best basketball player on the planet....talent wise.

But he has never come up "big" as they say in the biggest spots.....it might be that time.

He does this crap all the time...and I love him for it. it is dirty..yeah...did you guys ever see Jordan play? how many people caught elbows from MJ?

In fact...that is the final frontier for Dwyane Wade. Defense...check....outside shot...check...3 pt. shot...check....nastiness? next year.

    OH..and Ron Artest is a *****.

aren;t you RON ARTEST? I mean...don;t you "take care" of crap like that?

No....he ran to the ref and filled that bald ****'s ear (Joe crawford) and got tossed.

The REAL Ron Artest would have found a cute way to give one back to Kobe.

This one likes the character he created instead of actually acting like him.

    he lost points with me.

one last thing....this Laker team is one of the best teams I have seen in ages.

If they don't win the Larry O'brien trophy this year...Kobe should jump off the top of the Staples center.

Nastiness and Durability. Needs the hunger to fight through the pain. He seems to always be hurt. Not as much this year.

Kobe has been bullied in the past by the likes of toothpick Reggie Miller and short guy Chris Childs have bother roughed him up.....no wonder he wanted no part of Artest.

    Well said.

Couldn't have said it better myself! :hi5:

Hmm only if he dunks while jumping. I am a Lakers fan (duh), but everytime I hear how talented this team is, I scratch my head a little bit.

Luke Walton, Lamar Odom, Sasha Vujacic, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher. These are all guys that have been a part of this team for awhile now, back when everyone would agree that Kobe was pretty much left alone with scrubs. So what has changed? Pau Gasol? Trevor Ariza?

I would buy that. I don't buy that they are one of the most talented teams ever. I think the mid-90's Bulls, Knicks, Rockets, would beat them straight up. And the 80's Celtics, 76ers and Showtime LAkers would wipe the floor with them.

    My two cents anyways.

On another note, McGrady should excuse himself from the Rockets bench. He does NOT belong there.

And can we stop the nonsense of how Battier "defends" Kobe so well? He did so in pretty much one nationally televised game a couple of years ago and all of a sudden, he is a Kobe killer?

Perhaps someone should look at Kobe's stats tonight and see how "well" Shane defends him. In fact, feel free to look up his career numbers vs. Battier.

Kobe is hitting contested jump shots. You can't discredit the defender for much of that. He's on. Can't do anything about it.

    Dear Luke Walton,

When you are on the court with Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum, Sasha Vujacic and yes, Shannon Brown, please refrain from shooting the ball, ever.

Especially so early in the possesion.

Oh and if you could NOT kick the ball away from the ref and receive a deserved technical foul for that, that would be great.

I guess you can't help it considering that your father is a Celtic, so I guess it is understandable. Nevermind.

    Sam

    Dear Phil Jackson,
Please take Luke Walton off the basketball court. He does not know how to play basketball.

    Thanks,
    Sam

He has broken his ankle at least twice tonight already. Besides, it just makes me laugh about how so many people think he shuts down Kobe when, in fact, he does not.

And these refs are calling A LOT of fouls on L.A. right now.

    A LOT.

And another on Lamar. Unreal. Javie truly is a prick. Almost Joey Crawford level.

Dude, anybody that thinks the Lakers aren't going to the NBA Finals for the West is really as high as I wish I could be. Hope to see the Magic vs the Lakers in the Finals. Yeah, I know I'm smoking, but it could happen, we beat Cleveland this year.

Of course he has. He dominates the ball; it's going to happen. But I think toe to toe, Shane Battier has done a great job individually. Look you're not going to stop Kobe Bryant. I don't care who you are. Impossible IS something.

I will say right now, I don't and didn't expect L.A. to win this game.

Kobe's defense in the third has been great. And they have started to bleed the crowd silent as they slowly build a lead.

Scola is a ****ing gnat. He is Houston's version of Rony Turiaf for L.A. last year. Always there, always around the ball. So annoying unless he is playing for you.

Lakers up by 10. They NEED to keep their foot on Houston's throat. They have a tendancy to get cute and end up shooting too early in the clock.

Ugh and right on cue two shots jacked up within five seconds of getting the ball. Idiots.

As great as Rick Adelman has been, why the hell did he wait until the THREE MINUTE MARK to make a sub? His starters have been playing horrendous, starting with Ron Artest. And of all people, he subs in Von Wafer, quite possibly the dumbest basketball IQ remaining in the playoffs. The guy is an idiot chucker.

I am convinced that Rick Adelman's body is just a vessel void of any human emotion and organs. The guy just looks like he is in a daze at all times.

    Bad foul call on Pau.

I dislike this lineup for L.A.

Odom is the default number one...and that scares me. Luckily I think Kobe is only going to rest for a minute or two.

Honestly Gasol or Bryant should always be on the floor for L.A. right now.

This current lineup is called letting off the gas, and I hate it.

    Kobe back in. :)
