Was wondering if anyone else has plans to play Bio Ware's new Dragon Age first Qtr 2009? This game has had me salivating for a few years now. Another one I am highly looking forward to 38 Games...first title. Thats Curt Shillings gaming company....and that as well seems to be something worth the wait.
game looks badass! [ame="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/49061.html"]Dragon Age: Origins Video Game, Lead Designer Interview | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com[/ame]
As slow as I am getting through games I hope I am done with fallout 3 and sacred 2 by then and fable 2, but I doubt it. That game looks so badass!
I am a huge Baldurs Gate fan & cannot wait for the "spiritual successor" Dragon Age to be released. It is something I have wanted to see for years, and there hasn't really been any great CRPGs since BG's reign of power.
This game is going to be amazing. They spent an entire 5 years just developing the back story...heres the book they just released if your interested in reading about the backstory...my hunch is this will be a game we might see a few sequels to....very much Dark Fantasy obviously targeted to an older age group...if any of you have read anything by George R R Martin, you kinda have an idea what it will be like..... Sick new video.....what it means to be a Grey Warden..... EA/Bioware has had the best game videos to date....I actually like the Marilyn Manson sountrack with it.... http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6211179/
Just an FYI, there is a collector's edition for this game, and it comes with some cool stuff (even more if you pre-order from gamestop) but also some special stuff for Mass Effect 2.
I wish it was like a Action RPG but it seems like those Myth games which were kinda fun but not my style.
Can anybody tell me what type of game this will be? What does it compare to? Fallout 3? Is it an online game? Thanks in advance.
I would assume it would play like Mass Effect except it has a medieval setting as opposed to a scifi setting.
I believe the game is more of a spiritual successor to Bauldar's Gate. So I would imagine it is point, click, pause, assign commands, unpause, stuff like that. Kind of like KOTOR
This is correct, but pausing is always optional Once you get into the high difficulty settings though...not so much optional
Not online, purely 1P experience. Not like Fallout 3...somewhat comparable to the old Fallout games if you've played them...except they are turn based.
This is like Baldurs Gate(not the console ones)/Neverwinter Night series but without the Dungeons & Dragons rules limiting the developer's options for designing the combat. Baldurs Gate is the prototypical Computer RPG, I would be devastated if they tried to make it's successor purely based on action combat. Also, were you referring to the Myst games? If so...those games were basically puzzle/adventure games...nothing at all like this. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1d2ARd3K08"]YouTube - Combat Video[/ame]

Yes they were. I miss those games and wish some one would do something like them again. Same for the Ulitma's especially 6 and 7 and even the old SSI gold bax stuff (yep I'm old). Not an exact copy but something as fun and engrossing with similar theme. I'm looking foerward to the release of Origins I need a new game though I'm about to install The Whitcher enhanced which I have read is very good. I really enjoyed the MYth games at least the first 2 not sure if there were more.
That is actually a "Real Time Tactics" strategy game. Not the same kind of game. Dragon Origins use "tactical gameplay" as well, but you are issuing single commands to individual party members while pausing the game & other main aspects of the game is similar to other traditional RPGs...multiple story paths, lots of player chosen dialog, etc. Myth looks closer to Warcraft III.
