Only six teams have lower expectations from Vegas. We've got a tougher schedule this year. I don't expect to win 11 games, but I do think we'll get to .500. I think this is directly influenced by Chad Pennington. Like a lot of people, I don't think Vegas believes he can get a team any further than we went last year. And he has never lasted two straight seasons. Just really interesting to me. 7-9 is the expectation. Lots of folks seem to feel the same way.
Taking bets this early is silly. Anything could happen between now and the start of the season.....(see Ricky Williams, Michael Vick)
I'd bet over 8 wins if the nut was worth it, if the typical "worst to first" team slides back 3 games, that would make us 8-8 and a statistically "good bet". To me, we have to wait and see if Penny and JT still matter, and that means Training Camp.
depends on injuries..what if ferguson gets hurt for a month or so? or pennington? ouch, or even channing
I remember during Sabans first year our over/under was 6 games. I told ALL my friends to bet the over heavy. When we were 3-7 I looked like a jackass, but that 6 game winning streak smoothed things over.
Making the assumption there are no drastic changes to our team, injuries, etc, I'd take the over and feel pretty good about it. Considering that our team is better than it was last year, with a year in the system, some promising young guys added, plus some vets (JT, Grove), I think that will offset the schedule difficulty more or less. I'd be pretty surprised if we are under 9-7. Last year's 11 and 5 will be tough to match, but every year there are teams that fail to live up to expectations, and if we get a couple of those teams, we could equal or surpass it.

While I do agree that it's early, I would still take this bet. I don't think we will be able to duplicate our success of last year, but I don't expect this franchise to take much of a step backward. If it was not for us having the toughest schedule, this would be money in the bank.
Odds to win the division (Kinda odd to see 3 teams get the same odds). NEW ENGLAND 1 to 4 BUFFALO 7 to 1 NY JETS 7 to 1 MIAMI 7 to 1 MIAMI 20 to 1 to win AFC. MIAMI 40 to 1 to win SB.
40 to 1 is the lowest we've been in some time. Don't think we were that low even with Cul... Culpepp... I can't say his name, but you know who I mean.
7-9 was my original thought too but a lot of possibilities have opened up with the acquisition of new players for the 2009 year I think we could with hard work & some luck win the AFC east again & go even deeper into the play-offs
I'll put a grand on the over, once we get closer to the start of the season, anything can happen to our players in the offseason so i'll wait.
I think over but 11 wins with this schedule would be real tough. If we can get our rookies to produce heavily, 11 wouldnt be a real stretch.
I dont see a problem with 8-8. I dont bet anymore but if I did, I would put anything I could on the over. Man do I need a win in the first week against the home team. I could talk all YEAR.
Even with the tougher schedule, I still see us with 9-10 wins. Anybody here think Tony, Bill and Jeff aren't PLANNING for the tougher schedule?
