Very nice read. I am just glad that Parcells stuck to his guns and waited for Sparano to become available in Dallas. I know he was getting some critisim for waiting and letting some of the other candidates for coach to be taken by other teams but he obviously made the right decision. Sparano is low key but a worker with nothing but business on his mind not sports headlines. The players respect him and he has more than helped to bring respect back to Miami.

Parcells may have taken crap for cronyism, but look where it got us.
There's not a doubt in my mind that Sparano will be the COTY one day.

I think Sparano is much worse than a passionate coach. I think he wants to play. In his mind, the only thing keeping him from doing it is that he's too small to play offensive line at the NFL level.

    Nice article.

    Thanks.

Was it really Sparano who initiated the Wildcat? Glad to hear it, I like how he demanded that he wanted x amount of plays. I thought Lee made the suggestion to move to the Wildcat all this time.

Didn't Sparano tie for that honor? Or am I thinking of something else?

IMO Parcells gets too much credit for the turn around. I think Parcells' contribution is the system or philosophy he taught his prodigies and the aura he carries which makes FAs want to come here and the players who are here want to work harder out of fear or respect or whatever.

But the system is primarily implemented by Sparano on the field and to some extent off the field by Ireland. I don't know for sure but my guess is that those late round and UDFA hits we had last year (think Bess) are more Ireland than Parcells. And Parcells' aura contributes to the hard work this team puts in but its Sparano who demands it on a day to day basis and its Sparano who directs what those efforts are applied to.

Thanks finsfan, good read. Sparano should have won COTY and was robbed only because of Parcells' shadow. The cool thing is, I don't think Sparano could have cared less whether he got that honor, all this man cares about is the success of this team and its players.

THAT is why he is going to be an outstanding HC for us for many years and why I expect we will enjoy success every year he stays as our HC.
