I gave it another shot and watched it all the way through. Its still not the funniest movie ever,or even close for that matter, but it was ok.

Terminator: Salvation: I thought it was good but not great. I would rate it about even with Wolverine among this summer's movies. I thought they did a good job incorporating all the past movies. I wasn't impressed with Bale's performance. That's the first time that's happened.

I just watched the remake of Planet of the Apes (2001- Mark Wahlberg) on tv, and, while I think I don't really need to comment on the quality of the movie, there was one thing I had never noticed before:

there is a scene where the ape army is forming, and marching, and leaving their city, and the scenes look EXACTLY like the army scenes from Lord of the Rings. I mean, EXACT. Their marching style is the same (a sort of limping), they would zoom in on the little ape who screams (like the little evil orcs) and then the the big manly apes (like the uruk-hai). then when they left the city it was the zoomed out thing of the line of troops swirling out into the valley at night but all you can see are the torches.

I dont know, it's hard to describe, i wish I knew how to make GIFs because they are so frighteningly similar. anyway, I'm off to the beach for the afternoon

Saw Valkerie last night. Good looking move, quite historically accurate. Once I got past my hatred for Tom Cruise I could enjoy the film since I'm a WWII junkie.

Just got back from Terminator: Salvation.

Movie was okay I guess, I'd rate it around 3 out of 5 stars. Mrs. VO liked it, she actually enjoyed it a lot more than I did. I really hated the plot, and it pretty much doomed the movie for me, as it made absolutely no sense. And man, Christian Bale just blows in this movie. He brings no emotion to the scenes he plays. I enjoyed the FX, but for me, the movie was just boring for the most part. It's a vapid summer blockbuster. Average at best.

Wow, I'm surprised you didn't like it.

I think what a lot of people didn't like about Bale in this movie is that it doesn't completely center around him. I thought the plot was ok but it's definitely an obvious set-up for where the next 2 movies are going.

I thought Sam Worthington was really good in it. I've never seen/heard of him until now.

    Saw Terminator Salvation...TWICE.

YES, I thought it was that good.

The T-800, '1984' aged Arnold cameo, was AWESOME. The CGI was great in that sequence of scenes. Why bother having actors anymore!

The story stayed true to the mythology and continued it, didn't twist it around, and didn't screw things up like I felt Star Trek did.

Granted, my only real gripe was that the movie wasn't LONGER (to flesh out the other characters more). I watched it and when it was over I was like..."That's it? its over already? I wish this movie was another 30 minutes long!"...Maybe in the 'unrated' DVD version who knows.

You have to realize though that I am a total 'Terminator' geek. I love all the movies, comics and whatnot (sort of hate the attempted series though). This movie did not disappoint me at all.

Can't wait for the next 2.

To each there own cup of tea as I thought Trek (after further reflection) was merely just good to average and yet a lot of people that thought Trek was all world and say that T4 was just meh. So I will respectfully disagree.

True. But the most freaking utterly annoying thing for me was:

Seeing him almost fall of a 'cliff' or something every 2 seconds, or every other scene with him in it. But I expected nothing less from the 'awesome' writting team of Orci and Kurtzman.

    I also saw...ANGELS & DEMONS...

WOW. My wife wanted to see it, I wanted to pass, but I made her happy and went ahead and ....wow.

I thought the 'CODE' one was just yadda yadda yadda ...boring...blah, blah.

    But THIS ONE was GOOD.

I had a feeling that the bad guy was the bad guy at the start, but (dont want to spoil it for people) he tricked me at the end (for a time).

Great Sherlock Holmes type of mystery flick.

I really didnt feel like it was religious or anything. I thought with a title like that and after the last one I was going to fall asleep again, but it turned out to just be a great mystery/investigative flick.

Not going to spoil it but a quick 'low down' is that
the Pope has died (mysteriously) and now four of the Vatican Cardinals who would be considered to replace him have been kidnapped by an organization that has always been at odds with the Vatican. Also, this same organization has obtained a device that will destroy the city (essentially a time bomb - although its more complicated than that but I wont spoil it any further). So they need to find these guys before the Cardinals get killed in a short period of time and before the bomb goes off they need to find and disarm the thing. AGAIN though, its more complicated than just a 'go there and find this' type of movie, as it has its neat twists and that's why I liked it.

So the movie plays that out and you'd think that its not that mysterious and whatnot (like I did at first) but it was really, really good. IMHO.

He beat the alien by shooting him with his own gun. The people in the bar in all fairness he took on 4 guys. In fact I think most he was outnumbered. I think the things I found annoying was one the campyness of the whole, they are destined to be best friends and two the black hole at the end, I mean really did they not see the whole gravitational pull thing going, they can travel through space but no ones figured that out? Having said that these aren't anything I can't over look. Over all a fun movie, and really exceeded my expectations. Everyone uses the 5/5 or 10/10, so I gotta be different I give it a 6/ 6.23

    Absolutely.

I turned to my buddy and explained both after they happened. I'm not even close to a trekkie but I know about it, he's seen like 1 episode. Like I said I liked everything but Kirk's non-fight-winning-ness.

Yeah, I *****ed to my buddy too. But, he said get the f over it, and I agreed. So I did.

I'd put a spoiler on that one part you mentioned, bro. Idk about you but I def knew that was coming as soon as they hinted at it in the beginning. That part was cool though so no complaints.

Did you notice that Connor's wife looked pregnant? They didn't mention it but she def looked it during one scene.

How awesome was Marcus? That dude stole the show IMO.

Saw a $4.25 (ea) double feature today; Terminator: Salvation and Star Trek

Terminator was AWESOME! I loved it. And yes, I too thought Marcus stole the show, though I was certainly satisfied with Bale's performance. I was expecting much worse due to some people's comments. While I don't know that it felt like a Terminator movie of the past, it definitely felt like a great action/war flick (as someone had suggested to look at it as). I'm pumped for the next two. The only part I didn't like was
needing a heart transplant. I would've preferred Marcus simply saving John's life while John avoiding being impaled, and Marcus dying for real in the process. But small complaint, as I really liked the movie overall.
and yes, Bryce Dallas Howard I thought looked pregnant the whole time.

Star Trek - Really liked it too, and I thought the actor choices were great and really played well together. I didn't like it as much as Terminator, but it was still great in its own right.

I've seen a crap load of movies in the last four or five days.

    ***

Donnie Darko -- I've seen this movie once or twice before, but over the weekend, I had the Blu Ray of it. So Mrs. Z. and I watched it three times in a row: the director's cut, then the theatrical cut and finally, the director's cut with commentary by the director and Kevin Smith. It was a great experience.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist -- Cute, funny movie. Very "John Hughes for the 21st century."

The Da Vinci Code -- We've been thinking about seeing Angels and Demons, but we'd never seen the first Robert Langdon movie, so we gave it a spin. It was fairly entertaining, though it felt about a half hour too long.

Taken -- Liam Neeson simply kicked *** in this. Exceptionally well paced, it brought the action at a steady clip.
Quarantine -- There were moments I really liked this shocker and others I felt like I had stumbled across the Sci Fi Channel on a Saturday night.

I think the whole premise is incredibly stupid.

"I dont get a loan? YOU MUST DIE!"

Yeah there's a reason for that: its called a crappy economic situation and your ****ty credit history.

That goes back to the fact that stupidity runs rampant in this country the people here will flock to anything, or because its a kid's movie.

And is it me or did Kevin James gain weight?

Seriously though, the last movie I watched was 'American Beauty' on TNT last night, had never seen it, and would like to see the uncensored version, as it was really good. Not so much for the sexuality, but for the whole breakdown of the typical american family having a collapse in the suburbs, and how they dealt with it. And the husband narrating his impending death was spooky and good, I really liked it. I give it a big

Meh I didn't think it was that bad. It had its funny parts, I think intelligent comedies now and days aren't very frequent, look at alot of the popular comedies, superbad, anchorman, hilarious, but not all that intelligent.
