http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=556480 they also have a list for every position ot 8. Jake Long, Dolphins
I agree completely that Sparano should be at least #12 coach. In time, he'll move up to Top 5. He has that rare blend of toughness, but also likeability. He's not just a mean SOB. He's genuinely liked by his players, and they WANT to do well for him. He relates to them very well, while still maintaining his authority as "Head Coach" (not just friend). Cam = was too much "friendly", and not enough tough. Saban = was too much "mean", and not enough likeable. Wanny = was too much "dumb", and not enough smart.
They put Ryan Clady (not to be confused with Jeff Otah) as the #1 Tackle. I wouldn't put any guy with only 1 year experience that high. Jamaal Brown at #7 is laughable, as is Jason Peters at #3.
totally questionable just another opinion it's all about the game & we haven't played one this year last year is over & gone
its not so much the TD's thats the problem for me its the fact they have a rookie ahead of him who has proven nothing. It is what it is. Nothing ever really excites me about these things. I read them for fun and thats it.
Some interesting rankings. Andy Reid over Mike Tomlin? I know that Andy Reid has been very successful (for the most part) in Philadelphia but over Mike Tomlin? Tomlin's won a ring, even if it is with Cowher's players. Tomlin is a good, smart and motivational coach. Mike Singletary at fourteen? I love Singletary and his passion for the game but he's had like half a season in San Francisco and has a lot of shaping up to there. Putting him over a guy like Jack Del Rio is questionable in my opinion because Del Rio's been in the playoffs. Looking at the cornerback rankings, DeAngelo Hall in the top ten puzzles me. He's got good ball skills but he's beaten like a drum stick often. Happened in Atlanta, happened in Oakland and it will eventually happen in Washington. Winfield at nine is still underrated IMO. I'd still put him above Antonio Cromartie, a guy who relies on his athletic ability more than technique, as well as over Nate Clements, who I like but have seen get beaten pretty bad a few times. Charles Woodson at fourteen is a head slapper, IMO. He was arguably the best cornerback in the league last year and even moved to safety in some parts of games such as the Carolina one and did well. He's a very good CB IMO. I like Leigh Bodden but he's not better than Will Allen. Neither is Eric Wright, who I like a lot. JMO. I like Dominique Rodgers - Cromartie. He's a great athlete, has speed, very quick hips and great ball skills but he falls for double moves and he still has only one year under his belt. I wouldn't put him above Allen just yet. Same goes for Terrence Newman, whose talented but rarely on the field now. They should have broken up the linebacker rankings in my opinion. Way too complicated to compare a 3-4 OLB and a 4-3 OLB. Mikell and Roy Williams in the top twenty Safety rankings? In the running back rankings, I like Steven Jackson a lot, loved him since he came out of college but he's injured quite a bit. I still think Clinton Portis is being unappreciated here. I wouldn't put Brandon Jacobs and Frank Gore over him. Too high for Turner IMO. He's done it one year. MJD could be higher IMO. Beanie Wells at twenty? He hasn't played a down yet.
He's probably one of the best blocking tight ends already despite not taking any snaps and he catches the ball effortlessly. I'm not saying that he should be at twenty, just saying he could be there very soon. Who would you put him above? IMO, the only guy he should be above is Darren McFadden, who I don't understand why he's on the list.
That report is worth just about the number of pixels it takes up on the page, no more. "That's why we play the games"
Sporting News (I think it's them) has a magazine out on the shelves for the 2009 preview. I happened to look at it when I was at 7-11. They forgot to put Fasano in the depth chart and David Martin is our first TE. I just think they forgot about him completely. They're the worst.
I've heard good things about this kid, and im not questioning his talent, but the fact is he hasn't proven it in the NFL. I just think those rankings should be reserved for players that have actually played in the NFL.
2009 preview out already? Teams haven't even hit training camp! I usually wait for the last available preview magazine to come out and then grab it. Most of the time when you get the first ones that come out you find that they are missing more then a few players in their roster breakdowns.
if these guys were contestants in a beauty pageant & the pundits were judges these inane rankings would be meaningful as it stands, it is banter. idle speculative banter. after 2008, the Dolphins are in the back of the NFL Collective Consciousness in 2009 they will become an issue that must most reluctantly be confronted no one will look forward to playing us a second time. let there be blood!
Dick Jauron should be near the bottom of anyone's list so long as Rich Kotite isn't in the league! This ranking is as questionably subjective as an argument for Britney Spear's voice over Celine Dion's.
