Dammit, that's 3 on Howard now too. 16 point difference now. Stop trying for the 3's and just chip away at the lead guys.

Good to see you back, man.

Just wondering, who else had the Lakers winning this series before it started? I have them in six.

It's the first game of the finals, they're in L.A. and Kobe is playing like a man possessed. What more can they do? I'm confident they'll end this game on a high note, and come back on Sunday with a better handle on their mission.

Lol. I think the Magic will be fine though. Its the first game and they're adjusting to the Lakers. They'll be fine but I do have them losing in six.

Definitely. I still think Kobe is the superior player overall, better defender and closer.

Totally agree, I don't know if it's the Laker defense, or just the Magic's lack of aggressiveness going to the paint, but they need to do something.

Magic were really out of sync in the 2nd half. The first 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter was the killer. And trying to hit all those 3's wasn't helping. Some nights we're really hot with those, and then there's night's like this.

Kobe was unbelievable. The Lakers played some great defense.

Long way to go Magic fans, plenty of time to make adjustments and such.

Couldn't see the Laker game till the 4th quarter but highlights look good.

Do I need to respond? I'm only going with Lakers in 6 because if there is a 6th game, I'm there.

There were some shots the Magic missed, but it's weak to say if they made them they would have won.

Maybe if they made EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM they would have, but even at 50% it would have been a ten point game at the very least. It isn't like the Lakers made every shot either.

    Weak excuse.

One game. so if he lays an egg in game 2...then I got to drop him 20 spots?

rough start to my prop..but alot of series to go.

Kobe will put in a stinker in one of these...I just need Howard to go nuts in that game.

BTW...if all I did was bet against Kobe in the playoffs the last 5 years...I would be way ahead.

Actually, if they make their average FG% over the regular season and playoffs (.457) with the same number of shots (77), they would have made 13 more shots... which is 26 more points. Not talking about shooting the lights out or anything... just their average.

Plus, hitting those shots prevents them from sagging on Dwight all game like they did allowing him to get it going underneath. And, the shooting prevents defenses from collapsing on the penetration, as the defenders are afraid to leave their man on the perimeter...

Then, on the other end, missed shots from long range turn into long rebounds away from our main rebounder (Dwight) which leads to easy transition for the other team.

Missing open shots has a HUGE impact on this team. They cant afford to shoot like that... or they will get run out of the building every time. And none of that is to take away from Kobe's unbelievable performance. With Kobe shooting like that, the Magic still might have lost from Kobe just being Kobe in a late game situation... but I can guarantee that its a MUCH closer game if the Magic have just an average shooting night...

I'm not talking averages. I'm talking open shots. The Lakers played for the most part, very good defense. My point is that even if you hit more of the open shots, you'd still have lost. Not shots overall, open shots.

Now if you want to go back and rewatch the game and come up with statistics based upon open shots they missed, THEN I'd put my foot in my mouth big time.

I don't care about either team in the series, it's just an observation.

Long way to go, yet so many people are giving it to the Lakers already. There's been lot's of times where a team isn't clicking in one game, and can almost read each other's mind in the next. It's crazy stuff. I certainly can't say we won't lose another game in this series, but I can say we won't lose one by as much as in Game 1. I think the next 6 games will be much closer.

7 game series can't be judged by the first game but really if Kobe plays at or close to this level its over in 5 or less, I don't see it though, he has had his issues in the playoffs when it comes to consistent greatness. I do think he sees that he needs to win without Shaq to cement himself as the best player of this generation, he's motivated by that and the piss poor showing the Lakers had against the Celtics.
