I thought this would be a fun discussion... Not too long until July roles around and TC will be upon us! Let's list our personal scouting reports or judgements of the team and make some BOLD predictions on the depth chart roster and even numbers... 1. Matt Roth retains his starting role and shows why throughout the season stuffing the run and taking a step up in pass-coverage. 2. JT gets on the field in multiple roles rushing the passer and dropping into coverage ala 2006's numbers with some innovative coaching... 3. Paul Soliai grows up! 4. Our WR's group proves to be consistent and the best OVERALL GROUP in football! 5. Top 5 defense in spite of our schedule 6. Ronnie tops 1500 yards and 15 TD's with an added 500 yards receiving to top 2000 All-purpose yards. 2009-10 Miami Dolphins Record - (11-5 and retaining AFC East Champs!)
I'll make some predictions: 1. Miami's schedule turns out to not be as bad as advertised. This will be equal part improvement on behalf of the Phins, and some of the teams who we think will be tough not being so tough. 2. Ted Ginn just passes 1,000 yards receiving. I'll take a leap of faith and say 1,034. 3. Ronnie eclipses 1,000 yards, and 16 total TDs. (Just to add one to Hulk's prediction of 15) 4. Chad Pennington silences the critics with another healthy, productive season. Ok, nothing Chad does is going to silence his critics, but I stand by the healthy, productive prediction. 5. Pat White adds a dynamic element to our offense. 6. Joey and Jason terrorize QBs. 7. Vontae Davis earns his 1st round paycheck. 8. Ricky stays clean. 9. I'll be that guy. SUPERBOWL APPEARANCE AND VICTORY!!
Yeah, I forgot to mention the secondary... I think Sean Smith and Vontae Davis will be BIG-HUGE additions, especially our Nickel and DIME packages!
my predictions: 1) Ricky breaks the all time Dolphin yardage record & the Tandem gains over 1100 yards each this season 2) the Orca-5 becomes one of the elite front lines in the NFL 3) the defense creates a Triad of Terror by utilizing Wake, Jason & Porter on the field @ the same time during special situations 4) the WildCat/Spread under the direction of Pat White will become a co-system in our offense accounting for 30 to 40% of our time on the field by the end of the season 5) the new composition of the CB's will be: Will Allen, Smith, Green, V. Davis, Jason Allen, N. Jones 6) the safeties Wilson & Bell will be the Hammer & Anvil of the secondary 7) starting WR's: GinnJr., Devonne Bess, Patick Turner we will surpass last years season in wins
Sounds good to me though I don't know how Ricky would accomplish that feat unless Ronnie AND Cobbs got hurt leaving him to carry the rock about 30 times a game ala Dave Wannstedt...
My Predictions: 1. Cobbs will end up forcing our team to have a 3 headed rushing attack. Decreasing individual stats by Ronnie and Ricky, but increasing our team running efficiency and production. He's capable, offsetting, can hit the home run, and this staff could care less about one player reaching so many stats. If inserting cobbs for matchup potential will get first downs, it will happen. They discovered the gem last year, expect it to be a regular this year. 2. Will Allen's shut down abilities will force many throws to the rook, Vontae. His INT's will be the highest on the team. 3. The wildcat won't be used nearly as frequently, but with new options learned in the offseason, teams that load up the box to stop the run will get beat, and beat bad with it. It will compliment our base offense, but the media will still call it our base offense. 4. The schedule won't be as bad as it has been made out to be. Out of div. games that will be tough as advertised will be Steelers, Texans. Those that won't be as difficult, Indy, Tennessee, Atlanta 5. With added attention to Wake, JT, Porter, Langford will be a disruptive force in the backfield. 6. Our oline will dominate the run game and protect the qb very well. 7. Patrick Cobbs will run a punt or kickoff back for a TD. Early on there will be no question who our return man is. 8. Our special teams will be much improved with blocking when returning and tackling when preventing. 9. Tony Sparano's coaching will remind the league why he should have won COY last year. 10. We will have a .600 or better winning percentage in our division. 11. We will have the best conversion rate on 3 and 1 or 4th and under one. The NFL world knows about Loueska Polite, but they can't stop him. Well those are my predictions. If some of them come true, we should have a competative season. Which I think we will.
I'll go out on a limb: D: all of the above. I want to point out the WR corps as CK (I think it was CK) or someone pointed out, were 4th in the league in least passes dropped. Give these guys a better running game, another year of development, an OL that gives Penny/Henne/White the time to throw the ball, and we very well could have the second best overall WR corps in the NFl. I only say 2nd because I just don't think anyone is going to be better than Moss/Welker/et al. But if we come a close 2nd in that dept., and our running game will definitely be better than the Pats, then we can outplay, outscore and beat the Pats at LEAST one of the 2 games. And I don't see us losing to the Jests or Bills at all. I say at worst we go 10-6 but still get into the playoffs, and win at least once or twice in the playoffs. Any way you look at it, we are in for a FUN year! EDIT: Prediction #2: Tom Brady comes back looking like Daunte Culpepper did after his injury, because the Pats OL was exposed in the SB 2 years ago and teams will be gunning for Brady.
I fully agree with that. I really think the pats oline gets exposed. I even think Bilicheat is going to worry about it so much he'll have two TE's blocking and a running back blocking on a large number of downs.
I'm not one for making predictions, but I will say that somehow I have the same feeling about this team that I did about the 1970 team personnel wise. I believe we are on the brink of something very special!!!!!!
Friend Aqua Crush: nice post; excellent predictions however 1) I don't see the Tandem going to a Triad in the RB Stable. RB's need a certain amount of touches to stay hot on the field i.e. two's company, three's a crowd. I agree that Cobb will be a viable weapon & will be utilized creatively, but the work load will fall on Ricky & Ronnie. (notwithstanding injuries of course) 2) this will be a brutally competitive year. every win will be earned. 3) Tom Brady will be re-injured by the Triad of Terror playing Miami. NE will need another QB to finish the season. Both Taylor & Porter have personal dislikes for the New England Patriots & as a Franchise Miami has suffered @ their hands too many times in recent history. There will be blood!
My predictions for Training Camp: 1. Tony McDaniel plays NT, no way we risk the season on Soliai. 2. Chris Williams impresses as a kick returner 3. We have a flashback to 2006, we will have a rover this season. 4. Eric Greene surprises and replaces Goodman 5. 'Mando calls White a bust 6. Orion Martin and Erik Walden compete at ILB 7. Lou Ellis makes the practice squad My longshot, gonna make the team picks: 1. Chris Williams 2. Orion Martin
Well, if I'm going to make a prediction..... I'll go bold! -Jason Allen shines in Camp/Pre-Season. -Channing Crowder becomes good in coverage. -Chris Brown will make the roster as the backup fullback/H-Back. -Paul Soliai will turn the corner and become consistent.
Im not going to make any predictions. The only thing I can say is if the team or any players don't play well or perform up to par, the FO will take care of it. Thats something I definitely haven't felt in a long time now. And that to me is better than any predictions.
Jason Allen gerts cut Greg Cam gets cut David Martin gets cut by midseason, Turner has replaced Ginn as a starter
Final Record: 8-8 -We start slow (2-4 or 3-5) and we start to see chunks of Henne in the 2nd half of the season. -Our offense moves the ball well both on the ground and in the air improving from last year. (The Offense will not be the reason for the .500 season). -Ginn, Ronnie, Cobbs, Bess are the stars of our offense....Ricky struggles and has a problem with fumbling the ball. The OLine is consistent throughout the year. -The Defensive secondary will be the weakest spot on our team due to inexperience. (quick drops and the spread offense will be our nemesis and teams will expose this). -Erik Waden will see plenty of snaps as will Charlie Anderson. -By week 9 S. Smith is starting opposite W. Allen at CB. -Brandon Frye beats out Sean Murphy for the starting RG spot. Ndukwe gets cut. -We take the cap hit and cut Wilford -We split with the Jets, sweep the Bills and get swept by the Pats. Strength of schedule is just too hard to overcome which is the main reason we fall to 8-8 P.S. I'm usually wrong, so let's hope the streak continues
this will be a brutally competitive yearevery win will be earned. however they will surpass last year in total wins
Just some quick ones that popped into my heads: Jason Taylor will notch seven sacks. Joey Porter will have 12 sacks. Ted Ginn will surpass 1000 yards receiving. Pat White will have three rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown. Vontae Davis will have two interceptions. We will win 11 games.
I had an extra couple of hours today while I watch the Hogs/Noles so I decided to go game by game and pick who I thought would win in every single game of the NFL season. I put a tally next to the team for each victory. I was a little surprised at a couple of things, but I was completely honest in doing this. Here is how it shook out . . . AFC EAST Miami 12-4 New England 11-5 Buffalo 7-9 New York 3-13 AFC NORTH Pittsburgh 14-2 Baltimore 9-7 Cincinnati 8-8 Cleveland 2-14 AFC SOUTH Indianapolis 10-6 Houston 8-8 Tennessee 7-9 Jacksonville 4-12 AFC WEST San Diego 10-6 Denver 6-10 Kansas City 4-12 Oakland 4-12 AFC Playoffs 1. Steelers 2. Dolphins 3. Chargers 4. Colts 5. Patriots 6. Ravens AFC WILD CARD ROUND 5 Patriots over 4 Colts 3 Chargers over 6 Ravens AFC DIVISIONAL ROUND 1 Steelers over 5 Patriots 2 Dolphins over 3 Chargers AFC CHAMPIONSHIP 1 Steelers over 2 Dolphins NFC EAST Dallas 12-4 New York 10-6 Philadelphia 10-6 Washington 8-8 NFC NORTH Chicago 13-3 Minnesota 10-6 Green Bay 7-9 Detroit 3-13 NFC SOUTH Atlanta 12-4 New Orleans 12-4 Carolina 8-8 Tampa Bay 2-14 NFC WEST Arizona 11-5 Seattle 9-7 San Fransisco 7-9 Saint Louis 3-12 NFC PLAYOFFS 1. very interesting thanks for sharing I can see your predictions working out can't wait for the game! I'm ready for PrimeTime: the Pennington Renaissance the Triad of Terror the Tandem from Hell the Orca-5 the Hammer & Anvil Let there be blood! and a very colorful season
Man... Over the weekend you guys made some really good predictions! Larry and AQ4E made the most realistic ones to my opinion... How badass would it be though to become the first team to make a home Super Bowl this year? Pro-Bowl, check: Super-Bowl, check: Historical year that goes down in history as one of the most exciting seasons ever, let alone in Dolphins history!
we've earned the right to dream & the greatest of expectations. we'll see when the rubber hits the road. I want the Miami Dolphins not only to win games but be feared & respected by all that play them. I want to see Miami physically dominate the NFL. Let there be blood!
Yeah sorry the23rd. I didn't mean to sound like it will be an even 3 headed attacked. But more along the lines that cobbs will be incorporated more regularily than last year. He won't get regular touches but they will look to use him when they can and have full confidence he will produce. It will still drop the carries of ronnie and ricky compared to other tadem backfields where the two feature backs get all the carries.
Definetly. I think Cobbs is very underrated and will make few DCs look like this (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/131/319047856_dbf1ef3e92.jpg?v=0)
