I keep having trouble with firefox. Everytime I run malware bytes or adaware and clean out the stuff it seems to make firefox want to crash. I haven't updated to the newest version of firefox because then it will just keep crashing constantly. I tried switching over to safari but I keep getting an error message saying that is has caused in error and it needs to close. I don't know if its my computer or what but it's starting to piss me off. Anybody have any suggestions?

i tried using chrome and it wont even load up. Same thing happens to it that happens to safari. I get some microsoft error message and it closes. I havent been able to run windows media player or itunes for a few weeks now without having my router plugged in.

maybe a virus? i might try more virus scans than ad-aware type stuff. also, you might have to disable system restore for a little while if you ever get the computer clean. viruses have a tendency to "come back" after hiding out in your system restore folder.

i'd try restarting in safe mode, seeing if i can't connect to the internet that way, and google searching what happens when firefox crashes. hopefully there's a removal tool out there or an anti-virus that works.

yea im pretty sure its a virus. I downloaded chrome and i dont have the problems with flash that i do in firefox. chrome has only crashed once or twice so its been nice. i think i need to uninstall firefox and upgrade to the newest version. I didnt have these problems until firefox 3 came out.

Ive been having problems with running itunes or windows media player when my computer is hooked up to the internet. I have comcast and when i unplug the router itunes and windows media player work fine but as soon as I plug the router back in they stop working. I installed another 1 GB of ram thinking that might be the problem but it wasnt. I had zero space on my hard drive and cleared about 6 GB worth of stuff and that didnt work. Is it a virus or is my computer getting crappy? Its a 5 year old dell.

yeah i don't think ram or hard disk space would do that.

sounds like a trojan maybe. i'd run an anti-virus program and google search the "symptoms" of the "virus."

ive run malware bytes, ad aware, and spy bot and they dont show anything. i ran something called ccleaner. i can use them if i unplug my router but it gets annoying.

Same thing with me. I keep cleaning out viruses with Ad-ware and they keep coming back. Firefox and Internet Explorer are both having weird issues ( sometimes opening new windows when I click a link, not displaying certain pages that I know work, forwarding me to bs pages when I follow a link).

ccleaner just makes your computer more efficient. it won't remove a virus. i'd google search "avg free download" and run that anti-virus program.

also, make sure to disable "system restore" in the control pannel. it will erase everything in your system restore folder.

the thing is, viruses tend to hide out in that folder because it's immune to some anti-virus programs. so by not erasing that folder, you allow viruses to comeback after you thought the computer was already clean.

ComboFix did it! I probably had to restart and shutdown my computer around 80 times, but it did the trick!
