Everyone welcome a new little boy to our family......Pappy a 4 month old Saluki-Mix. Pappy with his new chew bone toy We greeted Pappy into our home last week, as a shelter dog 2 days away from being put down by Miami-Dade County. He is quite different from our last dog, Jasper, the prue bred Sheltie. Pappy is very outgoing, smart (learned to sit and play fetch in about 15 minutes, really !!!) and is mostly house trained(we do have an accident every couple of days, but its much better every day). He also is very, very energetic and playful, with lots of kisses all the time.
Awesome news Kevin. I know the loss of your last dog was tough. I probably would've named that guy either Scruffy or Tramp..of course the latter is from a movie
Well it wasn't a choice actually. At the shelter they named him Pappy, short for Papillion, a breed they thought he was when he was brought in. He was found as a just weeks old street dog.....no mother in sight and just weak, scared and lonely. Since he is already answering to "Pappy" we decided to keep it.
Congrats man. He's a freaking cutey. Also extra kudos for rescuing. I swear dogs that have been saved appreciate a good home more than other dogs. FTR, If you did want to change his name you can very easily. We rescued a two year old, and she took the name change in less than a week.
I just found this thread. Great idea. I got a new dog this past weekend, Storme. She is a 2 1/2 yr old heeler/mix. I don't have pictures yet, but I hope to soon. Spook now has a new friend.
Good looking dog! Storme learned her name in a couple of hours, she still isn't house broken, but neither am I.
Yeah we could change his name, but after a week of this name, it kinda fits him, and he cocks his head so cute when you say it, I just feel like the best thing is just to keep it.
Hmmmm, you guys are tempting me to change it.......we have always had "J" dogs.....Jake, then Junior, and finally Jasper. I had wanted to call him "Jack". maybe I still will.
I just showed my wife the picture of Pappy. She wanted me to let you know she's willing to trade any of our dogs and/or me for him. I'm soooo getting divorced!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry, but I'll be hi-jacking this thread for a few posts in a row (on topic though!). More of my oldest child - Zack
Stitches, what great dogs ! they must be a blast. Jack had a temper tantrum this morning. I sprayed the bitter apple on his privates because he was licking them excessively, and after I did that he went an peed in the corner. Jack had a timeout in the utility room for 15 minutes. They are so much like children its not funny.
aw man he is, he is very melo which makes him great with kids he's really patience and smart and ur pup is adorable i like the goatee he has going
Yea we have paperwork that says beagle/dachshund mix and other papers that say JRT/dachshund mix (our other two dogs are JRT, or at least mixes of JRT). We know she's part wienie for sure.
They all do (Ally and Violet more than Zack though, he just wants to be warm and cozy). She definitely likes to get under blankets though. She's the only one of the three that doesn't seem to dig holes outside, which is nice.
That's a shocker, little buggers are known for digging hole. Earth hounds, being their name in English. Mine will bug you when 10:00 comes around to go upstairs and go to bed.
Pictures of Storme coming in the next day or two BTW, I got her about a week ago and we've had tornados out here in Colorado almost everyday since I got her. I think the name "Storme" is a great name now. I love picking out names
Yeah, my girlfriend did the same thing to me as I was having the same problem as your dog...I think it worsened the problem. We both happened to really like Granny Smith's, so... I never peed in the corner, but I wish I had ..just for the fun of it.
