Back by unpopular demand is the Dol-Fan Dupree Manifesto. The yearly article that is so controversial that the dad of Rob Konrad pretty much called me a douche bag. I used to do this every year for about 6 years and then I took a break last year due to it taking forever and not having much reward. Well I have time on my hands this year and I am super excited about football so I will drain it all in this article.

    Quarterback:

The quarterback position for the Dolphins is amazing. I cannot believe I get to say that. After years of suffering through Fiedlers and Lucases and Lemons and even Becks, finally Miami has someone who can go on the field and play well. I don't have to talk about potential or lack of potential. I can actually say something about how he went on the field and did awesome for the phins. Awesome!

Chad Pennington: Awesome. He may have his faults, still he is the best qb Miami has had in years. Watching him on the field gives me goose bumps. To know that there is a good chance that he will not lose the game for Miami AND he actually can make plays to win them on a consistant basis. The question is can he remain healthy for two years in a row. Something he has not done yet. I have my fingers crossed that he will be able to reproduce his great season this year. It maybe tougher with the tougher schedule. I am hoping that Miami gave him more help. Makes the Team.

Chad Henne: Not only do we have Pennington, we have hope for the future. If Henne was going in as the starter it really would be same old same old. Instead he is coming in as a back up and looks like he is going to be a good quarterback. I am enjoying the fact that Miami actually has a real starter with real experience. I am also enjoying the fact that they actually have someone waiting in the wings. It is like Miami actually has a front office that actually plans for the future. Crazy. Makes the Team.

Pat White: The most exciting draft pick since I have been a Dolphins fan. No draft pick has garnered more off season discussion than this man. What position is he going to play in the long run? How exactly is Miami going to use him next year? What is known about Pat White is that he is a winner. It seems to me that the FO likes two types of players the most. Winners and hungry guys who want to prove something. They also like playmakers and here is a guy who is a winner, who is hungry to prove himself and is a play maker. He is everything this FO likes in a guy. He is the Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger of the Dolphins draft picks. Makes the Team

    Runningback:

Another position that feels good. Miami has three runningbacks who look to make their mark on the Dolphins next year.

Ronnie Brown: Is my favorite player on the team right now. Also, in my opinion, the most dangerous player on the offense. Especially now that he is 100% back from his injury. Last year he played nice. It is just he didn't have the explosion of previous years. Look at the Bears game to notice what this man can do when he is on fire. He is a jack of all trades. Good runningback, good reciever, good pass blocking. He is also a all around good guy who doesn't complain about sharing carries. All he wants to do is win. Another reason why I am a huge fan of this guy. He is a monster and I love the fact he can run people over. Makes the Team.

Ricky Williams: This guy is a classic greek tragedy. Actually more of an American one. An amazingly talented guy who just got in his own way. Watching early Ricky Williams years with the Phins he looked like he could go down as one of the best who played the position. A guy with amazing quickness, vision and power. Last year was his first full year back and did well in a split carries mode with Ronnie Brown. In today's NFL it seems that splitting carries is the way to go. Ricky proved to be a good player to split carries with. I am hoping he can regain some of his power over the offseason so he can start breaking tackles again. Makes the Team.

Patrick Cobbs: Another good story. Guy who proved to be a good utility guy. I do not know if he is ever going to be a starting/split carries type back. He is a good third back who comes on and can play some special teams. He got a nice contract. I am a fan of this guys quickness and burst. Also has really good vision. Makes the Team.

Lex Hillard: He is a big man. If he can block he might have a chance to make the team. Right now I do not think he does. He still has one more year of practice squad if memory serves me right. I think that is where he goes. Cut

Anthony Kimble: He is smart. I don't really know that, I am just assuming that because he went to Stanford. Stanford people are smart. Is he any good? He has good versatility and played receiver and returned some kicks. To know more about him would take some time to research. So I will cut him. Cut.

Lousaka Polite: Hearing his name I think of a professional wrestler. Just seems like one of those guys who come out to some nice music and then goes insane in the ring and then shakes the hand of the knocked out opponent after the match. His ability in short yardage last year was really impressive. His blocking was OK. I do not think that full back is a huge need for Miami so being OK in blocking seems good enough. He is versatile and showed last year he will probably make the team. Doesn't mean he won't get cut in the middle of the season. This team seemed to like doing that to full backs last year. Makes the team. For now, dun, dun, dun.

Chris Brown: What this guy has in me having know idea who he is, he makes up for it by having a very generic name. Cut.

    Wide Receiver:

The biggest competition during this offseason to me is wide receiver. Who is going to be the starters or even make the team. Seems like it is anyones guess right now. Looking forward to pads coming on and seeing what the new people and the old people can do.

Ted Ginn Jr: This guy is fast. His acceleration for his speed is good. The problem with Ted Ginn is that he is good at making one move and going. He isn't good at making one move, going and then making another move and going and then making another move and going. Which is something people like in their fast guys. He is a guy who can make fast guys look really slow. Watching some of his highlights in the NFL, like the returns that kept on getting called back, is like watching 1970s and before football highlights where the super athletic guy was totally out running the guys who played special teams because they just were not athletic. Last year it was my opinion that he showed enough to be a player who will make the team and help Miami's offense. He catches well enough and his speed is something defenses have to take into account. Nothing scares a defense like a guy who if they do not pay attention to gets a 60 yard gain. Having him on the field opens up the offense a lot and helps Chad Pennington do his thing. Makes the Team.

Devon Bess: A player that I am glad to admit I was wrong about. Looking at his last season he did play really well. Myself I am not the biggest fan of unathletic guys unless they are linebackers. Bess does not have the classic speed or quickness that people like at wide receiver. What he does have is a great understanding of the game, very soft hands and a huge determined attitude to be successful. He might not be good on a streak pattern or a player who is going to be the star of the team. He is and will be an amazing roll guy who will rack up tons of yards and catches. He can make people miss. Also he is really good at punt returns. Makes the Team.

Greg Camarillo: I am one of the few dolphins fans who is not a big fan of his. Yes if I ever see him at a bar he does not have to pay for any of his drinks. Thank god for that catch. The NFL is a mean league where whatever you did in the past is forgotten if you cannot do it in the regular season. I used to lump him and Bess in the same category. I no longer do that after reading some offseason stats and when Bess was given a chance after Camarillo went down, Bess did much better. Especially on third and longs. His injury might be what Miami uses as the excuse to PUP him and then cut him when they are sure his services are no longer needed. Myself is he better at special teams than London enough to keep him on the team or can he be as explosive as one of the younger fast guys. CUT

Ernest Wilford: Rarely do I go against Miami Dolphin players, yet someone who is on the team because his contract costs more than if he cuts him just doesn't feel good to me. He was supposed to be this awesome red zone threat and actually see what he can do as a full time starter. He was one of the worst busts in free agent history and he is now getting reps at tight end. I just do not see him making the team. CUT

Patrick Turner: One of two players drafted who have been blasted for being drafted by Miami too early. I will see if that is true. One of the fallacies of draft guru's is their hubris over who they think will go where. If 5 teams had a 3rd round grade on Turner then he is a player who has a 3rd round grade. That is the thing about the draft. It is a bunch of people guessing based on information and misinformation given by teams. He is big and athletic and runs good routes. Reading about him sounds good. I am hoping he turns into everything they were hoping Wilford was and more. Makes the Team.

Brian Hartline: Reading over his draft reports I see someone who looks like a carbon copy of Camarillo except with a lot more quickness. I will even say he has some more potential to be a starter in the NFL. Seemed to be plagued with a poor passing offense in college which could of lowered his draft status. It didn't much to the dismay of a few Dolphin fans who follow the draft like I follow the ice cream truck. Mm ice cream. Still he looks like a hard worker, good at special teams, very soft hands, good routes, very smart in finding open spaces. He looks to be one of Pennington's best friends next year. Makes the Team

Anthony Armstrong: Showed good promise last year. Showed good speed as well. I do not think he showed enough to make the team. He will be kept on the blackberry contact list just in case Miami pulls as Seahawks last year. Of course if Miami does he would probably get hurt as well. CUT

Brandon London: He will probably make the team. I am choosing between these bottom three and my brain says he will. He shows some promise as a receiver. Made an amazing 3rd down catch in the playoff game. Has great size and is good at special teams. However the next player I want to make the team so bad I just have to CUT him. However since I do not want to have 10 players in the secondary he is now saved. Makes the Team

Brennon Marion: Here is a player who will probably go on IR for the next year. Still if he doesn't I am going to choose him making the team. He is hungry, athletic and a playmaker. Three things Miami loves. I am one of those football fans who is annoyed with the tugging of heartstrings that ESPN is trying to do when I am watching my football coverage. I do not like the stories of the people who had to fight through blank so they can become great football players, blah blah blah. Show me routes and stats any day over stupid heart string coverage in that stupid soft light that is supposed to make find the people more attractive and nice looking. Saying that this guy's story tugged the hell out of my heartstrings. Holy crap has this guy done a lot to make it into the NFL. To top it off, after being homeless and living off Gatorade, using paper towels for pillows and only solid food is free from the 7-11 workers, he tears his knee in his senior season. Pretty much making it so he will not be drafted. Heart strings aside, this guy is a playmaker. He has an amazing yards per catch. Right now Miami has only one playmaking receiver, which is Ginn. I am thinking they want two. I am assuming with his history that he would be very willing to play special teams if that is what the FO wants. Makes the team.

Chris Williams: Super fast, super quick. Seems to me that Miami is looking for a small super fast super quick guy. They were interested in Harvin in the draft. They signed Jayson Foster last year. If this guy proves he can be a good wide receiver and make some plays there is a good chance he can make the team. Right now I think he has a better chance of making the practice squad or selling donuts. Mm donuts. CUT

    Offensive line:

This is an interesting one this year. The tackles are great. In fact the inside is pretty good. The question on the offensive line is depth. The tackles are not injury prone however each of the inside guys have a history of injuries. The inside is a dangerous place to play though. A lot of bodies flying around. I do love how smash mouth each of the starters are. That is exciting

Jake Long: Here is a guy who fit his billing of the first pick in the draft. He was an amazing run blocker. Mauled guys in front of him. His pass blocking wasn't bad. It looked like he would have a problem with speed rushers and he did. Most tackles do have problems, that is why good speed rushers make big bucks and situational ones are drafted in the 2nd round. He still held his own for the most part. The scary part about Jake Long is that last year he looked amazingly strong and this year he is supposedly stronger. The thought of a stronger Jake Long is exciting. He is also a hard worker and I have no doubt he will learn more tricks to deal with speed rushers. Having one of the most savy speed rushers back on the team will help him develop in that area. I am a big fan of this guy. Makes the Team

Vernon Carey: This is one of those players that fans seem to like to dislike. He is like T-Buck and Chris Chambers. No matter how well the player is doing with the situation that is provided for him, it is never enough. Fans demand perfection at every position and when they do not get it right away they are haters and takes an amazing year to change their mind. Problem with offensive tackle is that it is much harder to have an amazing year. He had on in 2006, and yet it wasn't enough for them. There are still posts on this board that have people wanting to trade him. Myself I am a huge fan of him. I love the way he can block two people on one play. If the right guard can do the same then you will see a lot of Shawn Alexander type runs. An athletic tackle who is also strong. I am happy that Miami has a good set of tackles. Makes the Team

Jake Grove: A player that when I first heard about it, I was disappointed. I thought Miami paid a lot of money for a player who gets hurt too much and isn't that big of an upgrade from Samson. Looking at some statistics he fits more of what Miami wants to do. They want a center who can take on big nose guards without help. Jake Grove is one of the few centers who can do such of a thing. Amazing when I think about it, since nose guard is the position that has the best view of the ball and gets the quickest start, while center is the position where they have to get the ball to the QB and then make the block. I played nose guard a little and there have been many times when I was able to hit the center before he was even ready to block me. Also one of the reasons I never wanted to play center. That and the hands on my crotch. I am looking forward to him playing a full year. Makes the Team

Justin Smiley: Was one of the better linemen on the team, then he got hurt. That is what happened the year before. Injuries have been something that has confused me. I do not know whose fault it is. There are players who get injured and then there are players who seem to never get injured. I am hoping Smiley just got unlucky and he doesn't have the injury gene. Which I believe has to exist since it is the only explanation. Occam Razor! Makes the Team

Donald Thomas: Argh!! That sums up my feelings on this guy. After reading so much about how awesome he is last year. He gets hurt at the first game. Now waiting to see if he can do it again, he tears a bicep. It does look like he is going to be back for training camp. I am hoping whatever he had that made him so special is still there. I like an idea of a offensive tackle that hits heavy. Makes the Team

Joe Berger: Brought in to bring some needed depth. A player that looked like was going to be a starter in a few years for the phins and then got plucked because Saban got too cute. I am hoping he is better than Alleman. Makes the Team

Andy Alleman: I like to call him Andy Crapman for how he played last year. Hopefully a year in Miami's fabled amazingly awesome super powerful weight lifting room of tremendous growing strength will help this guy from being continuously killed. Maybe I should of nicked named him Andy Killedman. Actually I would rather nickname him Andy Cutman. CUT

JD Quinn: It seems like a good time to make a Dr. Quinn Medicine woman joke. It is just that show has not been on the air for years. The 20 year olds would probably think I am some stupid old fart. I do like the fact that his number is 69. CUT

Mark Lewis: I do not know much about him. I do like what I read about him. I think that either him or Quinn makes the team. Using the principle of unsigned free agent guards make the team sometimes. It isn't a well known principle of football. It is kind of weak as well. Makes the Team

Shawn Murphy: Aw potential. It is like going out with a hot girl who says that she wants to wait so it will be special. So you wait for years and either it is that special and you marry her or she just lays there like a fish while you are thinking of forcing a back door entry to make her pay for making you wait so long. He is talented. Supposedly he should be able to play football in the NFL. Nothing so far has shown that. Miami brought in street free agents to play in front of him. I am all for developing talent. I don't know why I want him to succeed. Is it because he is a draft pick or is it because he is the son of Dale Murphy and that reminds me of my youth when I used to collect baseball cards. Well I never got a Dale Murphy card that was worth anything, not even that stupid reverse negative was worth anything. Jerk! CUT

Ndukwe Ikechuku: He did OK last year. Nothing to write home about. He is young. Still my memory of him is him being literally picked up and tossed in the Ravens game. I know that doesn't happen every play, however the inside blocking in that game, it could have. That was pathetic. Frye is hopefully better. CUT

Brandon Frye: He is strong. He is like hulk. Well not really. Still he is strong. Hopefully the Ravens defensive linemen won't pick him up. He is also tall and can play tackle. Makes the Team

SirVincent Rogers: There are two players I want to make the team because of their name alone. This is one of them. What an awesome name. SirVincent. Think of all of the fun nicknames the offensive line can have if he becomes the star of the line. We could call the line the Knights of the Round Table or something like that. Probably more clever. My dream will never be. CUT

Nate Garner: Nate Whoner? He was a Jet? Um, more reason to cut him. Get that Jet stick off of the team. CUT

Andrew Gardner: Here is a player that may have slipped through the cracks because of injury. Sometimes this works out. Sometimes it does not. He was a starter in a tough division in college. He is also freaking tall. He is like Nate Garner without the Jet stink. Makes the team

    Tight End:

For some reason I feel this is wrong. To have tight ends after the linemen. Honestly I forgot about them. The offensive line is also more exciting to talk about.

Anthony Fasano: Was an amazing trade. A 4th round pick for a tight end of this caliber is a steal. I do wish he caught a little more with his hands instead of his body. He is a good route runner and good at run blocking. He is everything that people like in real tight ends. Not these receiving tight ends who you wonder why they even bother the facade. I am talking about you Dallas “Can't Block Himself Out of a Paper Bag” Clark. Makes the Team

David Martin: Speaking about not being able to block out of a paper back. BOOM! How about that segway? This guy did better last year than the year before. In fact did pretty well. I was very happy with him. However he isn't much of a blocker. So the question is, of the four remaining tight ends who are the two that Miami want to keep. He is athletic and has the ability for the big play. He is also more of a wide receiver who is really just too big to be a wide receiver so they make him into a tight end. His blocking is not horrible. He can get in front of people and sometimes move them. I am going out on a limb. CUT

John Nalbone: This guy looks to be a David Martin clone who might develop some blocking skills. Right now he doesn't really have them. I am not the biggest fan of these types of tight ends. Blocking takes a certain mindset. There is a reason why Shawn Alexander cannot block well and Devone Bess actually can. So my question about him is that can he develop the mindset that David Martin never really did. I think Miami gives him a chance to. Makes the Team

Jared Bronson: Maybe a better prospect than Nalbone. However he wasn't drafted and Nalbone was. So CUT
Joey Haynos: There is something I feel Miami wants. Someone super tall who they can throw the ball too in the end zone. Joey Haynos is super tall. Can he be what Miami wants? I do not really know. I do think he makes the team though. Makes the Team

    Defense End/Nose Guard

I am not a fan of the 3-4. This is not really relevant. Just wanted to say it somewhere. This group has great potential and a problem. The potential is on the end positions. The potential problem is nose guard.

Phillip Merling: A player who was drafted without a position. He can either be a stand up guy or a defensive end. Well Miami drafted him and said, “You are a defensive end.” For a player who was a rookie who didn't really have the body for the position, he did well. By not having the body, I mean it in the same way Roth did not have the body for his position. He needed a little more strength in certain areas. With a off season of working his body into what he needs it to be to play down all of the time, I think he will do better. He could be a big play defensive end. Makes the Team

Kendall Langford: My favorite player from last year's draft. I loved watching him play. He did pretty good against the run for a rookie. Kind of hit a wall and gave some unreal expectations by having two sacks in his first two games (which would have been three if he didn't take down Favre with his face mask). He is a strong player who works really well in the position. I am excited to see how he plays this year. Makes the Team

Randy Starks: I was excited about him until he might be arrested. He does have the rich and famous thing going for him, so he is probably fine. Aw to be rich and famous. Those laws just do not count. He was Miami's big play defensive tackle last year. He got interceptions that saved games, sacks when Miami really needed them and tipped passes. He was really good last year. So good Miami let go Vonnie Holliday who is a good leader. I am hoping he really didn't do it and the police are lying, which does happen and he is a monster next year. Makes the Team

Lionel Dotson: I do not know much about this guy. I have never been impressed when I have seen him play in the pre season. Apparently he is Miami's best pass rushing defensive end. I have always saw Roderique Wright actually out perform him during pre season games and the times they do make it in the regular season. I do think he is a favorite of the FO so I say Makes the Team

Roderique Wright: A player who I was excited to see become a Dolphin. I saw mock drafts that had him in the top 10 the year before he actually went into the draft. A poster child in why you should strike when the iron is hot, because he fell into the 7th round the next season. It is my opinion he has shown flashes of being a good pass rushing defensive end. He is quick, maybe they should of fattened him up and put him at nose guard. Well I think this is the end of the road. One of those players who I want to do well, however just doesn't. Probably will be a journyman for a few years and sell me insurance. Nice guy, didn't try to rip me off at all. CUT

Paul Soliai: The fact he is still on the team makes me believe that he will make the team. Suspended a few times and hasn't lived up to his potential. He can play the nose guard spot and defensive end as well. He is an athletic guy who likes to eat. He is huge though. Makes the Team

Ryan Baker: He is fighting for Chris Brown for the most generic name award for a player I have never heard of. He is a rookie. He is a cuttie. CUT

Joe Cohen: He is going to fight for a spot at nose guard. He is going to lose. CUT

Tony McDaniel: He is huge. 6-7. WOW. A player that Jacksonville gave up on because he enjoys being hurt. Every year just does it over and over again. Well I say Make the Team

Jason Ferguson: More like Jason Cuttingson. Just kidding. A good leader. A good nose tackle. Went to the Cowboys for a while so the Jet stink is gone. For some reason Nose Guards can play for a long time. I would think different, however I am wrong. I am hoping for a healthy season for him or Cohen proves me wrong and rocks hard or Soliai puts down all the cheeseburgers and becomes awesome. Makes the Team

Louis Ellis: He is strong. He is the only NT on the roster that I am using for this. He has a shot at making the team if he works really hard. From what I read he is really raw. However he is also athletic and strong. CUT

    Linebackers:

Well not bad group of guys. Makes me feel better now that Jason Taylor is back.

Jason Taylor: HA HA Jason FREAKING Taylor is back. One of my favorite Dolphins is back. One of the most underrated run stuffers in the league. A player who is surprisingly strong. Now he is coming in and most likely going to be a situational player. I am excited because last year Miami had one pass rusher who was worth a darn and this year they have at least two. Third and Longs are no longer going to be nearly automatic first downs. I am sick of Miami not being able to get people off of the field. Jason will help that.

Joey Porter: A player who many were ready to give up on and then he went and had him a career year. He was unstoppable sometimes. Had what I like to call, Pass Rushing Sacks. Sacks that are sacks because he beat the people trying to block him and then he makes the sack. Where a QB has 3 seconds to pass the ball and he gets there in 2.5 seconds. The other ones I named are coverage sacks, which is used everywhere else and mop up sacks, which are the sacks where the Pass Rushing sack was missed due to the qb being really on the ball and then the player gets the sack. Ogun was awesome at these. Matt Roth is a good mop up sacker as well. Makes the Team

Matt Roth: One of the hated players. I guess that is the problem with being a first or second round pick. If you are not super amazing, then you will have people hate you because you did not fulfill their expectations. Last year made a surprising even to him jump from defensive end to linebacker. A player who people say that he is a liability in the pass defense, however people do not actually prove that with facts. I have read that teams with small quick runningbacks will eat us alive if he has to cover them. Turns out last year the only quick small runningback Miami played was Peyton Hillis. Leon Washington does not count because he didn't prove their point. I am hoping to see some improvement from his overall game now that he is spending the offseason training to be a linebacker instead of a defensive end. I love the way he stops the run. He is one of the best in the league at that. One thing fans neglect is the importance of stopping the run. Sacks are nice, stopping the run is also very nice. Makes the Team

Orion Martin: I am putting him here now because I do not want to forget about him. For some reason he is a defensive end on the Miami Dolphins roster, even though he is practicing at linebacker. He could be a good player. I do not know who he is. Mostly what I read about him I like. The fact that he is a leader type player. Seems like a player that this FO likes. I will say Makes the Team. Why not? Makes the Team.

Cameron Wake: He has a good football name. A lazy son of a ***** until he changed his name. Put on a proverbial suit of awesomeness when he was up in Canada. Has what I like to call, HOLY S*** arms. I cannot believe his arms are that long. He must have been super lazy to not only not be drafted, to be cut as well. I am looking forward to seeing what this guy can do in the NFL. One thing that bringing Jason Taylor back does is takes a LOT of pressure off this guy. If he has 8 sacks next year, he will be a success. Makes the Team.

Erik Walden: One of the reasons Miami special teams improved. He is a good tackler. He will make the team due to his special teams. Hopefully he will also be a decent back up if he is ever needed. Makes the Team

Akin Ayodele: A player who Miami needs to upgrade next, next year. He is decent enough. I am not calling him bad. He is like a McDonald's burger. He is OK, cheap and on the way home from work. Once and a while he will surprise you, however mostly he is nice and steady. Makes the Team

Channing Crowder: A personal favorite of mine. He is a mouth and he is funny. He seems to enjoy football and he loves being a Dolphin. He has Morlon Greenwood disease. There will be fans who just do not like him. When he missed a game it was apparent to me how important he is to the team. He is not Ray Lewis or Zach Thomas, however he is athletic and stable. Makes the Team

Tearrius George: This is a BIG guy. One of those guys who people say, in the 3-4 you need big inside linebackers. No matter how many 3-4s that have been pretty good with small inside linebackers including one of the best ever Sam Mills. Why did I write that when it looks like he is going to be an outside linebacker? Good question. The answer is, I do not know much about this guy. He is going to have to show a lot to make the team. CUT

Charlie Anderson: When writing about free agent busts this guy is luck Miami signed Wilford. He has not lived up to the contract Miami paid this guy. He might be coming into his own this year. However this year Miami got two people who are pass rushing specialists and one is known to be better and the other has arms of a god. CUT

JD Folsom: When drafted even he said, “Who?” CUT

Quentin Moses: Just like when Moses went up to the Red Sea, he will be CUT. Or just like when Moses came down from the hill and yelled out the first commandment, “Thou Shall Not Suck” CUT. Or just like when Moses appeared looking like the bad guy from Tron and said, “I demand more elbow macaroni art.” CUT.

William Kershaw: I wonder if he is Russian. Should change his name to CUTShaw. Ha ha. I AM SO FUNNY!! Still good luck in following your dreams into the NFL. CUT

Reggie Torbor: Miami needs another back up for inside linebacker. His contract is pretty big. Hopefully this year he will prove to be worth his contract. Makes the Team.

    Secondary

This year Miami should have more coverage sacks due to improvements in their secondary.

Yeremiah Bell: Probably my favorite player. I love watching him play. I love watching him try to hit guys really hard. I love the fact that he is really, really, really fast. I am not a fan that his hands seem to be made of some sort of anti-baller. It is like the ball is repelled by his hands. Actually I believe an anti-baller would probably negate the balls existence as well as his hands. Stupid Science ruining a perfectly good joke. He is one of the stars of Miami. Makes the Team.

Gibril Wilson: Doesn't excite me too much. Big contract that he might not deserve. However he is an upgrade over all other safties last year that didn't have the last name Bell. He is a HUGE upgrade over Chris “I should never be on the field” Crocker. He probably should of picked a better nickname. He is a big hitter who will help Miami's running game. He should help Miami's passing game as well. Makes the Team.

Chris Clemons: I like reading his profile and I do not understand how he lasted until the 6th round. He is fast, and he did well at college. I am hoping he proves to be good at depth and special teams. Makes the Team

Tyrone Culver: I am not a fan. CUT

Courtney Bryan: I am more of a fan. CUT

Erick Kilmer: A special teams player who is hungry. Due to Miami's emphasis on increasing special teams, Makes the Team

Will Allen: Got an extension. He deserved it. I am a fan of him. I do not care about his lack of interceptions. I do care about his ability to cover good receivers. Makes the Team

Vontae Davis: One of the more athletic cornerbacks in the draft. He also may or may not have an attitude problem. I am hoping for good things from this guy. I refuse to call these men kids. They are freaking adults. I do not care how old I get. I am never going to be so old where I call 20 year old men kids. (Off my soap box) Makes the Team

Sean Smith: He is exciting. He is so freaking HUGE for a cornerback. Everything about him says, No he cannot do it. He is too tall. Well here is hoping he is good enough to stuff MOSS! Makes the Team

Jason Allen: Another player people do not like. However he actually deserves it as he hasn't done anything really. He is a decent player. Honestly I thought he is better than Chris Crocker last year who really sucked. I do not know what he is missing. He is super athletic. I honestly believe his saving grace this year is that last year he was one of Miami's best special teamers. He is very athletic and hopefully the light will switch on and he can become a starting quality cornerback. I am not holding my breath, however like I said he is a good special teamer. Makes the Team.

Scorpio Barbers: Aw the second player who I love his name. It is like he is a bad guy in a Bond flick. “Dammit, Scorpio Barbers has destroyed all of France. You have to stop him from destroying the rest of Europe James.” Umm yea that was lame. Anyways CUT

Eric Green: Here is a player that was probably the most upset after the draft. He is a hungry player, however he might be hungrier after training camp. Still there is a chance that Miami keeps him due to the fact that he is probably a better starter than Jason Allen. However due to his inability or refusal to play special teams last year for the Cardinals they had him inactive during a lot of games when he lost his job. So that is the question. I say he makes the team, however is inactive due to that stupid inactive player rule. Why is that there? WHY? There is NO GOOD REASON! It is just throwing money way. Paying people to not play when you can use them. It is just stupid. Totally stupid! Makes the Team

Nathan Jones: Here is a player who might be Miami's slot player. Can play some special teams. I have always found him to be “eh”. CUT

Will Billingsley: He sounds like he should be a butler with a name like that. This dude is fast. Miami seems to want to keep him on the team since they gave up Jalen Parmalee for him. I will say the light comes on and he works hard and becomes good enough to stay on the roster. Why not? He runs a 4.33 on grass. ON GRASS!!! Makes the Team

    Special Teams

Argh. I don't want to write about these jerks. What fun is that? WHAT FUN IS THAT!?!??!

    Long Snapper

Jason Denny: Here is a player whose biggest competition is Jason Taylor. A funny thing is that it makes his position more solid. Hopefully I will go through the entire season next year without thinking about him once. Such an interesting position. The entire goal of a long snapper is to have a long career without being noticed. How many times have you ever said, “Wow that was a good long snap.” The answer is that unless it is said as a sarcastic joke or to prove a point like I am right now, you haven't. No one has ever said that unless they are a special teams coach. The best they get out of a head coach is, “Way not to **** it up. You are taking a real players position so don't blow the next one.” Such a thankless position. Long Snapper should be featured on Real American Genius. Makes the Team

    Kicker

Dan Carpenter: The pride of Montana. Makes the Team

    Punter

Jy Bond: He is old. I am not making a stupid James Bond joke no matter how obvious it is. He is going to get a visit from Miss Cuttingpenny. I guess I couldn't help it. CUT

Brandon Fields: Oh thank god. I am done. Why do I do this? It has been over 4 hours straight. Holy crap. WHY? No one ever reads it! What a waste of time and my life. So sad. Oh yea. He will hopefully improve his consistency and his coffin corner kicks. Makes the Team.

Overall: I am excited for this team. There is a lot to be excited about. Even though Miami was 1-15 the year before they did have a solid base. It is my belief that Cameron's “Fail Fast Forward” philosophy put in a losing mentality in the team. Mentality is very important. I understand the premise, however I am sure that good teams generally use philosophies that give the players a mentality of success. On paper it is a good philosophy as if you are put in a situation that is nearly impossible, being in a situation where it is possible will seem much easier. However it is my opinion that due to the fact that Cam wasn't a great leader AND his teaching his team to fail, combined in a season where they were 1-15 when they were 1-15 because of mentality more than because of having a lack of talent. They did break the record for the most games lost in Dolphins history by 6 point or less. I know good teams win those games. In fact the Miami Dolphins team next year won more of those games.

One of the benefits of being in the same division as the Patriots is the fact that now that Tom Brady is back everyone expects Miami to not win the division. In fact a lot of people are putting them as 3rd and 4th for some weird reason. There is no reason why Miami should get a big head and expect to win. Which in my opinion will help the against us mentality that is used a lot in football and tends to get people to work a little harder. Also one thing Tony Sparano did was install a winning mentality into Miami. He was talking about winning the superbowl right away to the players. He did not want to hear anything about rebuilding and that, in my opinion, is another reason he is so beloved by players. He wants to win. Last year Miami was a disciplined team and with the Patriots still in Miami's division looking to take back their crown that everyone says they are lucky to have gotten because Tom Brady was hurt, there is no reason to expect Miami to not want to be disciplined again. They are not going to believe their own press clippings because they are not getting them. Next year's Miami Dolphin team is like Rocky II. The year before people see as a fluke. Now it is to prove that Miami is not a fluke and they can win the championship.

The only big hole I see in Miami is secondary and wide receiver. Having Jason Taylor back should help the secondary and Chad Pennington proved last year that having super awesome wide receivers was not important to him. Bess really came on during the second half of last year and Ginn is good enough of a deep threat to keep safeties to give Bess room to get open. If Miami's interior line stays healthy and smash mouth as they look they can, Miami can have a very scary offense next year. Especially if Ronnie recaptures his pre ACL injury form.

Defensively Miami is young and has a lot of room to improve. Having Jason Taylor and Wake will hopefully make the pass rushing more dynamic.

When people talk about championships and Miami, I say, “Why not us?” Things will have to go right, however that is true for every team in the NFL. I do know that Miami has the talent to contend with anyone in the NFL and they now have the mentality to back it up.

    GO PHINS!!!!

right now the only area that clearly needs help imo is ILB..Crowder/Ayodele/Torbor are ok, but we can definitely go LB heavy next years' draft..oh and NT.

I really would not be surprised if we cut Camarillo... Martin would come to me as a surprise, but not so much a shocker. Thanks for putting this together, Dupree. Looks like a lot of work.....

Oh and what did you say to piss off Rob Konrad's dad?

If memory serves me correctly I wasn't that polite about his son's play or roll in the offense and mentioned something along the line that Jeff Ogden was performing some kind of sex act to remain on the team.

DANG! Rob was the most under-utilized and best FB I've seen... I loved that guy! He was more like a TE who was a great pass-catcher but for some reason they never gave the guy a real chance! I still remember that beautiful TD he caught from Marino against Denver...

Nice write-up! I think it will be Fasano (Pro-Bowler) with Martin, Nalbone and maybe even Haynos battling it out through the preseason for positioning.

I have a hard time seeing Camarillo going anywhere. He just keeps proving people wrong and did a VERY good job last year before the injury. I feel really good about the receivers we have though, it will be fun to see what happens there. I also see the addition of so much more firepower on offense that people like Cobbs will be affected because of the effectiveness of a base offense. I see Ginn, Bess, Turner, Hartline, Camarillo, London as the WR's with Armstrong and Marion or the other little guy making the practice squad.

I also think the true depth we have now gives us a winning record in the preseason as well and good confidence from that.

ESPECIALLY if Donald Thomas is healthy and ready to go along with the rest of the projected "Whales" Ronnie is gonna have a MONSTER year! I'm talking over a 5 ypc average with some big plays... He's a beast!

    Nice stuff!

I'd classify Bess, however, as quick. Not straight line speedy, but very quick and nimble

Thanks for taking the time to think everything out & write an article. Excellent piece!
Basically, I think you are on the money. Your analysis is solid., well written & thought out.
    My very few digressions:
    1) Ricky will step up big this year, well beyond what is expected of him.
    2) Murphy & Quinn will stick w/ the OL & Terrius George stays @ LB
    3) N. Jones will make the team
    4) Rodrigue Wright & Ellis will stick, Orion Martin cut

Amazing write-up as always. This part got me amped:
