Sammy Sosa, whose memorable home run race with Mark McGwire in 1998 is credited with helping revive baseball after the 1994 players' strike, tested positive for steroids in 2003, according to the New York Times. The Times cited "lawyers with knowledge of the drug-testing results from that year."

And the dam begins to leak, soon we will hear more names. Sosa is not a surprise at all.

    Big surprise....

Unortunately, this is also going to expose Gonzo :pity:

I have said over and over he wasn't included in all this...but, nope, he is certain to be included

Anyone remember how before every game he would "run" out to right field? It was comical to watch, dude couldn't even run properly he was so juiced.

And Sosa is in even more trouble.....he testified UNDER OATH to Congress that he never took or tested positive for PED's. He lied to Congress and that is a felony. They can prosucute if they want too.....Sammy may sing like a bird to get out of that, and then we may find out a whole lot more.

Now I hate Canseco more than most, because he brought shame to my own High School (we both went to Miami Coral Park High), so it hurts me to say this, but when Cansucko claimed a couple of years ago that 80% of players were on "the juice" and most people pooh-pooh'd him, he now once again looks like that for one time in his life, he was telling the truth.

Is there no doubt that it was way more pervasive in MLB than anyone thought...just look at the list of those that we now know were juicing : Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, McGuire, A-Rod, Petite, Knoblauch, and the list goes on.....

    :pity: :pity: :pity:

The sad thing is that baseball is a lot more fun to watch with LESS home runs to me. I like stolen bases, triples into the gap, the hit and run.

Those concepts are dying because of this love for the long ball, and players juicing to try and hit more.

Its a shame when you think most of the games you witnessed growing up were tainted, that all of the stars you routed for are tainted. At this point the only superstar player I'd bet was clean was Ken Griffey Jr. Seeing that he kept pace with all of these guys short of the Bonds years when healthy puts him as the top player our my generation to me personally.

I may have to think about giving up pro baseball if Junior ends up being tainted too. I just wouldn't believe anything about it anymore. Such a shame, because its such a great game to be a fan of.
